Stairlift Service Across Union County

Union County, NJ

We install across every part of Summit. In Northside, the stately Tudors and Colonials on Hillcrest and Woodland Avenues have wide oak treads with steep rises — ideal for a tread-bolted straight rail. The Prospect Street Historic District is full of 1900–1915 Victorians whose narrow, winding staircases need a custom-curved rail to clear the turns. Memorial Field mixes pre-war two-stories with newer builds, often with stone or tile entryways. Mountain-Oak Ridge split-levels and expanded Capes have mid-stair landings that suit short straight runs. We also serve Briant Park near the Watchung Reservation, Tatlock Park raised ranches, and the Downtown Historic District. Nearby: New Providence, Springfield, Short Hills, Millburn, Chatham, Berkeley Heights.

Straight

Northside — straight rail on original 1928 oak treads

Franklin Place, NJ Installed March 2026

Mrs. Harrington, 78, had stopped climbing the oak staircase in her 1928 Colonial on Franklin Place after two falls in six months. Luis bolted a 14-foot straight rail directly into the hardwood treads. The cream seat parks at the bottom landing beside the newel post — no drywall touched, no repainting. She was upstairs in her own bedroom that evening.

Prospect Street — curved rail wrapping a half-wall to the upper landing

Prospect Street Historic District, NJ Installed February 2026

A 1910 Queen Anne Victorian whose staircase bends 90° at the mid-stair landing, then 90° again before the top floor. Luis laser-measured it in an hour. The custom-curved rail wraps around the half-wall and parks the brown seat at the upper landing — the chandelier above stayed untouched. The family's mother now reaches her bedroom without help.

Memorial Field — compact straight rail past a wooden sideboard

Memorial Field, NJ Installed April 2026

A pre-war two-story with stone-tread stairs from the living room to the kitchen level. The run is tight — 32 inches wide — with a wooden sideboard at the base. Luis mounted a 12-foot rail on the tread side, leaving the sideboard exactly where it was. The brown seat parks neatly at the bottom, and Mr. O'Brien now reaches the kitchen in under 30 seconds.

Outdoor

Briant Park — outdoor lift on stone porch steps

Briant Park, NJ Installed January 2026

A Briant Park home near the Watchung Reservation with six stone steps from the driveway to the front porch — impassable for Mrs. Kowalski after a hip replacement. Luis installed an IP55-sealed outdoor unit on the rough stone paving: cream seat, weather-sealed aluminum rail, key-lock operation. After January's freezing rain, the seat cleared off with a broom. She rides up every morning.

Tatlock Park — straight rail on carpeted treads

Tatlock Park, NJ Installed May 2026

A 1972 raised ranch near Washington Elementary with carpeted stairs in a warm beige tone. The brown seat matched the carpet almost exactly. Five brackets bolted through the carpet into the treads below, and the fibers closed back over the bolt heads. Tiled floor at the base landing. Mr. Williams' father now rides up from the finished level twice a day.

Platform Lift

Hidden Valley — indoor wheelchair platform lift

Hidden Valley, NJ Installed February 2026

Mr. Reyes uses a wheelchair full-time, and the staircase from the living room to the bedrooms is a straight 15-foot indoor run. Luis installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift — flat black deck, yellow safety edges, fold-up ramps at both landings, and a white handrail along the wall. The platform carries Mr. Reyes and his chair, a combined 480 lb, up and down on a battery-backed DC motor.

Common Questions

Everything Summit Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding, no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a straight stairlift cost in Summit?

Straight models begin at $2,800 installed. Summit homes typically need 12 to 16 feet of rail. Hardwood treads — common in Northside and Oak Ridge — allow direct bolting with no drywall work, which keeps cost down. Monthly financing runs about $79/month.

How much is a curved stairlift for a Summit Victorian?

Curved stairlifts start at $9,000. The price depends on the number of turns, since each rail is custom-bent after a one-hour on-site laser measurement. That's the norm for the winding staircases in the Prospect Street Historic District. The package includes a swivel seat, battery backup, and 5-year warranty.

Does Medicare cover stairlift costs in Summit?

No. Original Medicare (Parts A and B) classifies stairlifts as home modifications, not durable medical equipment, so it pays nothing. Real funding paths for Summit residents are the VA HISA grant ($6,800 for service-connected veterans), New Jersey MLTSS through Medicaid, and the JACC program for seniors 60+.

What's the all-in price for an outdoor stairlift in Summit?

Outdoor units start at $4,000 and include the IP55-sealed motor, weatherproof rail cover, and key-lock operation. Pricing depends on the number of porch steps. Built for NJ freeze-thaw winters — no special seasonal servicing required.

A word from Luis

Summit is one of my favorite towns to work in because no two staircases are alike. I've bolted straight rails into the oak treads of Northside Colonials, curved a rail through three turns in a Prospect Street Victorian, and fit split-level lifts near Memorial Field. The pre-war homes here run narrow — 30 to 36 inches is common — so I measure on-site before I ever quote.

Most Summit installs finish in 3 to 4 hours, bolted into the treads, never the walls. If you want to know what your staircase needs, call me at (800) 965-0350 and I'll come measure it for free.

Luis Ramírez, Summit
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Summit's housing runs from 1890s Queen Anne Victorians on Prospect Street to mid-century split-levels near Memorial Field, so no two staircases are identical. Every install starts with a free in-home measurement, runs on a tread-bolted rail (never drywall), and uses a DC motor with battery backup that keeps working through winter power outages. Most jobs finish in 3 to 4 hours.

Call Luis Ramírez at (800) 965-0350 for a free assessment. Describe your staircase, get a firm quote, and schedule a professional install — often the same week for straight rails.
