Stairlift Service Across Morris County

Morris County, NJ

From the stately Tudors and colonials lining Fairmount Avenue and Southern Boulevard in the borough center — where homes built in the 1920s and 1930s feature narrow hardwood staircases and original plaster walls — to the larger mid-century colonials and split-levels of the Lafayette section west of River Road, our crew has measured staircases across every Chatham neighborhood. Tallmadge Avenue homes near the train station have steep Victorian-era stairways with tight banisters that require slim-profile rails. The Green Village Road corridor features post-war capes and raised ranches with garage-to-main-floor transitions. Properties along the Passaic River near Stanley Park often have walkout basements with exterior steps that benefit from weather-sealed outdoor lifts. Newer construction in the Hickory Tree Road area has wider treads and open stairways that accommodate any rail configuration.

1928 Tallmadge Avenue Tudor — slim-profile rail on steep original treads

Tallmadge Avenue, NJ Installed March 2026

A 1928 Tudor near the Chatham train station with steep original hardwood treads only 31 inches wide between the wall and the banister. Mrs. DiNapoli had been sleeping on the sofa for three weeks after knee surgery at Morristown Medical Center because the stairs were off-limits. We laser-measured the run, confirmed the slim-profile rail would leave 20 inches of clear passage, and installed the same week. The brown-upholstered seat folds flat against the wall at the bottom. Mrs. DiNapoli slept in her own bed that night for the first time in a month.

1962 Lafayette split-level — curved rail through a 90° landing turn

Lafayette, NJ Installed February 2026

A 1962 split-level in the Lafayette section west of River Road with five steps from the front entry to the living area, a 90-degree landing, then nine more steps to the bedrooms. Mr. Silverman has lived in this house since 1985. We laser-scanned the full run on the first visit, fabricated a single curved rail that carries him from the entry to the upper hallway without stopping, and installed a swivel-exit seat at the top so he steps onto carpet instead of balancing on the top tread. His VA provider at the Morristown clinic wrote the HISA prescription, and the grant covered $6,800. One ride, zero transfers.

Fairmount Avenue colonial — straight rail on carpeted stairs

Fairmount Avenue, NJ Installed January 2026

A 1940s colonial on Fairmount Avenue with carpeted stairs and a standard 36-inch-wide staircase. The brown-upholstered seat sits at the bottom of the stairs near the front entry. The rail bolts through the carpet into the wooden treads beneath — no carpet removal, no damage to the pile. Folded, the seat and rail take up 11 inches, leaving 25 inches of clear passage. The JACC program through Morris County covered the full installation cost after Mrs. Petersen's assessment through the Division on Aging.

Stanley Park home — outdoor lift on walkout basement concrete steps

Stanley Park, NJ Installed December 2025

A home near Stanley Park along the Passaic River with a walkout basement and eight concrete exterior steps that iced over every winter. Mr. Kovac had already fallen on the steps the previous January and his daughter demanded a solution before the next cold snap. The cream-colored weather-resistant seat sits at the bottom step, ready when he comes home. Every component is freeze-rated to -20°F, UV-stabilized for summer sun, and carries an IP55 seal against rain, snow, and ice. The battery backup kept the lift running through two nor'easter power outages.

Green Village Road cape — straight rail on narrow stairway, same-week install

Green Village Road, NJ Installed November 2025

A post-war cape on the Green Village Road corridor with a narrow enclosed stairway leading to the second-floor bedrooms. Mr. Romano's son called from New York City on Monday, we measured Tuesday afternoon, and the install crew arrived Thursday morning. The rail mounts flush against the wall on the right side, leaving the left banister fully open. The swivel seat at the top lets Mr. Romano step off facing the upstairs hallway. He was riding it by Thursday evening. The son said it was the fastest home project he had ever coordinated from out of state.

Platform Lift

Hickory Tree Road home — inclined wheelchair platform lift with yellow safety edges

Hickory Tree Road, NJ Installed October 2025

A home in the Hickory Tree Road area where Mr. Fitzgerald uses a power wheelchair full-time after a service-connected spinal injury. A seated stairlift was not an option — he needed to ride his chair between the garage level and the main floor. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift along the interior transition: a flat black anti-slip platform with yellow high-visibility safety edges on all thresholds, white handrails, and a keyed lockout so visiting grandchildren cannot activate it unsupervised. The HISA grant covered $6,800 and NJ FamilyCare covered the remaining balance through his managed care organization. Mr. Fitzgerald rolls onto the platform, presses one button, and rides the incline without leaving his chair.

Common Questions

Everything Chatham Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Chatham, NJ?

Straight rails in standard Chatham homes — the colonials on Fairmount Avenue, the Tudors on Southern Boulevard, the split-levels in the Lafayette section — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for landing turns common in Chatham's mid-century and pre-war homes run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your staircase's exact geometry. Outdoor models for raised entries and walkout basement steps run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are Chatham prices different from other parts of Morris County?

Equipment prices are the same across New Jersey — we do not adjust based on town or county. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: narrow pre-war treads in 1920s Tudors on Tallmadge Avenue, split-level landing fabrication in Lafayette section homes, and reinforced mounting for steep Victorian-era staircases near the borough center. Those are baseline specs, not upcharges. We list every line item on the written quote.

Is a stairlift cheaper than moving to a single-story home?

Moving costs in Morris County — real estate commission, closing costs, moving crew, new deposits — typically run $40,000 to $80,000 given current home values in the Chatham market. A straight stairlift installs in under four hours for $2,800 to $5,500 and lets you stay in the home you have lived in for decades, in the neighborhood you know, close to your doctors at Morristown Medical Center and your community. For most Chatham families, the stairlift costs less than the real estate commission alone.

Do you offer financing for Chatham homeowners?

Yes. We offer 12-month interest-free financing and extended terms up to 60 months starting at $79 per month for a standard straight install. Approval takes minutes during the in-home visit. We also help you stack financing with VA HISA, NJ JACC, or NJ FamilyCare so you pay the lowest possible out-of-pocket.

A word from Luis

Chatham families call after a scare on the stairs — a grandmother who slipped on the hardwood in a Fairmount Avenue colonial she has lived in since the 1980s, a father in the Lafayette section recovering from knee surgery at Morristown Medical Center who has not been upstairs in five weeks, a daughter in Manhattan worried about her parents in a 1920s Tudor on Tallmadge Avenue they will never willingly leave.

I drive out, measure the staircase, and hand you a written quote honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
