Stairlift Service Across Union County

Union County, NJ

From the 1970s colonials of Cinnamon Ridge — where cul-de-sac streets run along the Second Watchung Mountain ridge — to the split-levels and ranches of Spring Ridge built in the 1960s along the slopes above Diamond Hill Road, our crew has measured staircases across every Berkeley Heights section. Glenside Park homes near the Watchung Reservation feature wide-tread colonials with straight runs ideal for standard rails. Union Village properties along the Passaic River corridor include older farmhouse conversions with narrow treads that need slim-profile seats. Stony Hill homes near the Long Hill Township border have raised entries with outdoor steps that benefit from weather-sealed lifts.

1972 Cinnamon Ridge colonial — straight rail on carpeted treads

Cinnamon Ridge, NJ Installed March 2026

A 1972 colonial on a cul-de-sac in Cinnamon Ridge with 14 carpeted treads and a painted wood banister. Mr. Martinez, 76, had both knees replaced at Overlook Medical Center and his wife called us the week before his second surgery. We through-bolted the brackets into the subfloor beneath the carpet pad at each bracket point, re-tucked the carpet, and mounted a brown-upholstered seat that folds flat at the upper landing. He rode the lift from the front hall to the bedroom the evening he came home from rehab.

1965 Spring Ridge split-level — curved rail through the half-landing turn

Spring Ridge, NJ Installed February 2026

A 1965 split-level in Spring Ridge with the classic NJ layout: five treads up from the foyer to a half-landing, a 90-degree turn, then seven more treads to the bedroom floor. Two national chains told Mrs. Kowalski, 84, the turn was too tight for a curved rail. We laser-scanned the entire run, fabricated a curved rail with a factory-welded bend at the half-landing, and installed a swivel-exit seat so she steps off onto the hallway carpet. The rail clears the walls on both sides by more than two inches.

Glenside Park ranch — straight rail to finished basement workshop

Glenside Park, NJ Installed January 2026

A 1958 ranch in Glenside Park near the Watchung Reservation with a finished basement Mr. DeStefano used as his woodworking shop for four decades. After a stroke limited his right-side mobility, the basement stairs were off-limits. We bolted a straight rail into the wooden treads, routed the charging cable along the baseboard so it does not cross the basement doorway, and installed a folding seat that parks at the top of the stairs. He was back at his workbench the next morning.

Outdoor

Stony Hill raised entry — weather-sealed outdoor rail on concrete steps

Stony Hill, NJ Installed December 2025

A raised-entry home in the Stony Hill section near Long Hill Township with eight concrete steps from the driveway to the front door. Mr. Lombardi fell on those steps during an ice storm two winters ago and stopped using the front entry entirely. We anchor-bolted a weather-sealed outdoor rail into the concrete treads with stainless fasteners rated for New Jersey freeze-thaw cycles, sealed the motor housing to IP55, and added a rain cover for the parked seat. He rides from the driveway to the front door in any weather.

Union Village farmhouse conversion — straight rail on narrow original treads

Union Village, NJ Installed November 2025

A converted 1940s farmhouse in the Union Village section along the Passaic River with narrow original hardwood treads — only 33 inches wide. Mrs. Walsh, a retired Army veteran, needed the lift after hip surgery at Overlook. We spec'd the slim-profile model with the compact footrest, confirmed 21 inches of clear passage remained, and installed the same week. The VA HISA grant covered the bulk of the cost and we handled the paperwork with the Morristown VA Clinic.

Platform Lift

Berkeley Heights colonial — inclined wheelchair platform lift between floors

Berkeley Heights, NJ Installed October 2025

A 1975 colonial where Mr. Alvarez, 68, uses a power wheelchair full-time after a spinal cord injury. A seated stairlift was not an option — he needed to ride between floors in his chair. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift with a flat black anti-slip platform and yellow high-visibility safety edges along the perimeter. The unit runs on a track mounted to the stairwell wall and carries the wheelchair and occupant between the main floor and upper bedrooms. His occupational therapist from Kessler Rehabilitation signed off on the install.

Common Questions

Everything Berkeley Heights Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Berkeley Heights right now?

Straight rails in standard Berkeley Heights homes — the Cinnamon Ridge colonials, the Spring Ridge split-levels, the Glenside Park ranches — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for the split-level landing turns common in 1960s–70s Berkeley Heights construction run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor weather-sealed models for raised entries and hillside steps run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Berkeley Heights than neighboring Summit or New Providence?

Equipment prices are the same across Union County — we do not inflate quotes for Cinnamon Ridge or Spring Ridge addresses. What can add cost is unusual conditions: a pre-1950 farmhouse conversion in Union Village with narrow treads, a new dedicated circuit in an older home without a grounded outlet near the staircase, or a multi-landing curved rail in a Watchung Mountain hillside home. We show you every line item upfront.

Does NJ FamilyCare cover stairlifts?

Yes. NJ FamilyCare (Medicaid) covers up to $15,000 in home accessibility modifications including stairlifts through the Home and Community-Based Services waiver. You must be financially eligible for Medicaid and assessed at nursing-facility level of care. Contact your managed care organization or the NJ FamilyCare hotline at 1-800-701-0710 to start the process. We are an enrolled provider and handle the authorization paperwork once your service coordinator assigns us.

Is a used or refurbished stairlift a good option for a Berkeley Heights home?

A factory-refurbished straight rail can save 30–40% over new — typically $1,800 to $3,200 installed for a standard Berkeley Heights colonial staircase. We inspect, re-certify, and warranty refurbished units the same as new: 3 years parts, lifetime rail. Curved rails are almost never available refurbished because every curved rail is custom-fabricated to a specific staircase. If your stairs are a clean straight run (most Cinnamon Ridge colonials and Spring Ridge two-stories qualify), ask about refurbished options during the free assessment.

A word from Luis

Most Berkeley Heights calls come after a close call on the stairs — a slip on the carpeted split-level landing in a 1960s Spring Ridge home, a father who stopped going down to his finished basement in Glenside Park after a knee replacement at Overlook Medical Center, a daughter in Manhattan who noticed her mother gripping the banister in a Cinnamon Ridge colonial she's lived in for 30 years.

My job is straightforward: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and hand you a written quote honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
