Stairlift Service Across DeKalb County

DeKalb County, GA

Scottdale's residential landscape splits into two distinct eras — and stairlift needs change with each one. Tobie Grant Estates and the streets off Glendale Road date to the 1950s and '60s, with ranch homes built narrow-stair tight. These treads run 30 to 34 inches wide, and the hardwood is original — our straight rails bolt directly to the treads with zero wall damage. Valley Brook mixes mid-century ranches with newer builds; the older homes often need a custom rail length because staircases were cut before standard building codes. Mills at Scottdale and Park Pointe went up after 2020 — open-concept townhomes with wider stairs but occasionally odd landing geometry where the builder tucked the staircase against a half-wall.

Straight

Tobie Grant Estates Ranch, 1958

Tobie Grant Estates, GA Installed February 2026

1958 ranch with original oak treads — 32 inches wide, steep rise of 7.5 inches. The homeowner needed a lift after a knee replacement made the stairs unmanageable. Straight rail, 12 feet, bolted to the treads in five positions. The beige seat parks at the bottom landing by the front door. No wall drilling, no drywall repair. The oak held the brackets solid — those old-growth treads are denser than anything milled today.

Two-Story near DeKalb Farmers Market

Cedar Park, GA Installed January 2026

This 1972 split-level has a 90-degree turn at the upper landing where the staircase meets the hallway. The rail was laser-measured on site, then custom-bent to follow the turn radius exactly. Brown seat parks at the top floor, clear of the chandelier. The rail hugs the half-wall at the turn — only four inches of clearance needed. Two-week fabrication, single-day install.

Compact Cottage, Valley Brook

Greater Valley Brook, GA Installed March 2026

Small 1960s cottage with stone tile treads — an unusual surface in Scottdale, where hardwood dominates. The tile required a slightly different bracket set to maintain grip without cracking the stone. Straight rail, 10 feet, brown seat matching the dark tile tones. The staircase is tight — 31 inches between walls — but the slim-rail option kept the walkway clear. Install wrapped in under three hours.

Outdoor

Front-Porch Access, Mills at Scottdale

Mills at Scottdale, GA Installed April 2026

Outdoor install on a townhome front porch with rough stone paving. The homeowner needed exterior access — four steps up from the sidewalk to the front door, no ramp space because the porch is narrow. Cream outdoor unit, IP55-rated against Georgia summer storms and pollen season. Marine-grade rail coating. The stone required anchor bolts set into the masonry, no different than a deck post. Full weather seal on all electrical connections.

Carpeted Stairs, Park Pointe Townhome

Park Pointe, GA Installed December 2025

This 2022 townhome has wall-to-wall beige carpet on the stairs — a match for the brown seat upholstery. The carpet pile is medium-density, which means the brackets seat firmly through to the plywood sub-tread without compressing unevenly. Straight rail, 13 feet, standard residential spec. The stairs are 36 inches wide — comfortably above the Scottdale minimum — so the rail leaves a full 24-inch walkway. Tile floor at the base landing.

Platform Lift

Wheelchair Access, Glendale Road

Glendale Road area, GA Installed February 2026

Indoor inclined platform lift for a wheelchair user in a 1964 ranch. The staircase is straight but the homeowner cannot transfer to a seat — the platform carries the chair directly. Flat black deck with yellow safety edges, white handrail, 600 lb capacity. The rail runs 14 feet along the main staircase, bolted to the treads every 18 inches. The platform folds up against the wall when not in use to keep the stairs passable.

Common Questions

Everything Scottdale Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a straight stairlift cost in Scottdale, GA?

Straight stairlifts in Scottdale start at $2,800 installed. That covers a standard straight staircase up to 14 feet — which fits most of the 1950s ranch homes in Tobie Grant Estates and along Glendale Road. If your stairs run longer than 14 feet, additional rail sections add roughly $150 per foot. The price includes the DC motor with battery backup, the seat, the rail, all mounting hardware, and on-site installation. No hidden fees. We give you a firm quote after the free in-home assessment — the number on the quote is the number you pay.

How much is a curved stairlift in Scottdale?

Curved stairlifts start at $9,000 in Scottdale. The final price depends on the number of turns and the total rail length. Older two-story homes near the DeKalb Farmers Market and split-levels in Cedar Park often have one 90-degree turn at the landing — those typically land between $9,000 and $11,000. The rail is custom-bent to your staircase after a one-hour laser measurement on site. The rail fabrication takes about two weeks, then installation is a single three-to-four-hour visit.

What financing options work for a Scottdale stairlift purchase?

We offer financing from $79/month with approved credit. That covers both straight and curved units. For Scottdale veterans, the VA HISA grant covers up to $6,800 — that's the full cost of most straight stairlifts, leaving you with zero out-of-pocket. Georgia's EDWP Medicaid waiver has a $10,000 lifetime cap for home modifications including stairlifts. And DeKalb County runs the Special Purpose Home Repair Program for seniors 62+ and disabled adults 21+, which can fund accessibility modifications. We walk you through which one fits your situation at the assessment.

Are there any hidden costs with stairlift installation in Scottdale?

No. The price we quote at the assessment is the final price — period. It covers the lift, the rail, the mounting hardware, the installation labor, and the first-year service check. If your Scottdale home has especially narrow stairs (some of the 30-inch treads in older ranches off McLendon Drive, for example), we may need a slim-rail option, but we tell you that at the quote stage. The only thing not included is optional extended warranty beyond year five.

A word from Luis

Scottdale's housing stock runs the full DeKalb County range. Over in Tobie Grant Estates and along Glendale Road you'll find 1950s and '60s ranches with narrow staircases — 32-inch treads, tight landings, hardwood that's been there since the mill days. Then two streets over in Mills at Scottdale or Park Pointe, you've got brand-new townhomes with open-concept stairs and oak treads that need a completely different rail spec.

The PATH trail runs right through this community, and I've done installs in homes where you can see cyclists heading toward Stone Mountain from the stair window. Cedar Park families tend to call when a parent moves in — those split-levels off Cedar Street are trickier than they look. Valley Brook's ranch homes need the straight rail nine times out of ten, but I've also put curved rails into some of the older two-story places near the DeKalb Farmers Market that have 90-degree turns at the landing.

What I tell every Scottdale family: we measure on site, we bolt to the treads — never the drywall — and most installs wrap in three hours. The humidity here means we spec the DC motor with the sealed bearing kit. No surprises, no upsells. Just a stairlift that works when your mom needs to get upstairs at night.

— Luis Ramírez, Scottdale
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Scottdale started as a mill town in 1901 and spent most of the 20th century as one of DeKalb County's quietest corners. Today it sits at the crossroads of PATH trail traffic, new townhome construction, and families who've owned the same ranch house for fifty years — a mix that creates every kind of staircase geometry you can picture.

If you're in Tobie Grant Estates, Cedar Park, Valley Brook, or one of the newer communities off Kelly Street, the process is the same: call, we come out, we measure, we install. Most jobs wrap in three hours. Your mom gets her upstairs back. That's the whole point.
