Stairlift Service Across Gwinnett County

Gwinnett County, GA

Mountain Park is a 250-acre lake town with two distinct pockets. South of Lake Garrett, the tree-named streets — Beech, Hickory, Magnolia, Walnut — hold the original 1927-1950 lake cottages, many with narrow staircases and the short risers typical of pre-war Georgia builds. North of the lake, the bird-named streets — Robin Drive, Cardinal Drive, Thrush Drive, Blue Heron Drive — went up between the 1950s and 1980s as the city expanded, mostly brick ranches and split-levels with wider straight runs. West Lake Drive and East Lake Drive circle the shoreline with the lakefront houses, many on raised stone foundations needing outdoor porch lifts.

13-Step Oak Straight Rail on Robin Drive 1960s Ranch

Robin Drive, GA Installed April 2026

The Pattersons' 1968 brick ranch on Robin Drive — Mountain Park's bird-street north side — has dark oak treads, 13 steps, no turns. Standard mid-century build with bedrooms upstairs. Luis bolted a cream straight rail to the treads in three hours. The seat parks at the bottom landing near the front entry. No wall contact. Mrs. Patterson needed access to the upstairs bedrooms after hip surgery and was back upstairs by dinner.

1932 Cottage Stone-Tile Run on Beech Street

Beech Street, GA Installed February 2026

The Simmons family's 1932 lake cottage on Beech Street has the original stone tile in the front foyer and a short, narrow staircase — 9 feet, 8 steps, heart-pine treads under the tile at the base. A wooden sideboard sits beside the bottom landing. Luis positioned the brown seat to dock beside the sideboard without blocking the foyer. The rail bolted cleanly through the heart-pine treads with a slow bit.

Common Questions

Everything Mountain Park Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Mountain Park, GA?

A straight stairlift on a standard Mountain Park staircase — common in the 1950s-70s ranches on Robin Drive and Cardinal Drive — starts at $2,800 installed. Curved units for the split-landings in lakefront homes on West Lake Drive start at $9,000, custom-bent from a 1-hour laser scan. Outdoor lifts for porch entries on the original 1927 cottages start at $4,000. Heavy-duty models supporting up to 600 lb start at $5,050. Every quote includes the rail, seat, install, and 5-year warranty with lifetime rail coverage. Financing is $79/month with approved credit.

Why is a curved stairlift more expensive than a straight one in Mountain Park?

A straight rail is a stock component we carry on the truck and cut to length on site. A curved rail is custom-fabricated — after a 1-hour laser measurement at your home, the rail is bent at the factory to match your specific stair turn. For Mountain Park lakefront homes with split-landings or 90° turns at the upper hallway, the custom rail is the only way to get a clean fit without gaps or shimming. The added manufacturing step and the longer install drive the higher price.

Are there hidden fees or recurring charges on a Mountain Park stairlift?

No. The price quoted at the free measure visit is the price you pay. It covers the unit, install labor, and all hardware. The warranty runs 5 years on parts and the lifetime of the rail. After year one, annual service visits are optional. The only potential add-on is running a new outlet to the staircase if there isn't one within reach — uncommon in Mountain Park homes where most outlets are placed near the stair base by code.

Does Medicare cover stairlift costs in Mountain Park, Georgia?

Medicare Parts A and B do not cover stairlifts — they classify them as home modifications, not durable medical equipment. Some Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans offer limited home-modification benefits, but coverage varies by plan and is rarely the full cost. The more reliable funding sources in north Fulton are the VA HISA grant for veterans (up to $6,800) and the Georgia EDWP Medicaid waiver (up to $10,000 lifetime).

A word from Luis

Mountain Park is the smallest city in Fulton County — 250 acres, 583 people, one Post Office, no commercial zoning. The original 1927 cottages on Beech Street and Magnolia Street still stand, and they have the narrow staircases and short ceiling heights you'd expect from a 1920s lake-cabin build. The bird-street side north of Lake Garrett — Robin, Cardinal, Thrush — went up later, mostly 1950s through 1970s, with wider straight runs that take a stock straight rail in three hours.

What's unique here is the lakefront. Houses on West Lake Drive and East Lake Drive face Lake Garrett, and a lot of them have a finished lower level that opens onto the water. The main staircase usually goes up to bedrooms — so the stairlift travels up from the entry, not down. For outdoor installs, we use the IP55-rated unit because Georgia humidity is hard on motors, and most Mountain Park porches have stone or brick steps from the original 1927-1950 builds. Most of my Mountain Park jobs run morning to lunch. The rail bolts to the treads, the drywall stays clean, and the lift's on before I leave for the next call.

— Luis Ramírez, Mountain Park
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Mountain Park has fewer than 600 residents, no commercial strip, and one lake at its center — but it has the same aging-in-place challenge as any Atlanta-metro suburb. The 1927 cottages on Beech Street don't bend their staircases to fit modern hips, and the 1970s ranches on Cardinal Drive weren't built for walkers. A stairlift is the lowest-friction fix that keeps people in the home they chose precisely because it sits on a lake five minutes from Roswell's town center.

Call Luis at (800) 965-0350 to schedule a free measure visit. Whether you're on West Lake Drive with stairs down to the dock or in a bird-street ranch off Hardscrabble Road, he'll measure your stairs, walk you through the VA HISA grant or Georgia EDWP waiver, and have a firm quote in your hands before he leaves.
