Stairlift Service Across York County

York County, PA

Newberry Township covers a wide swath of northern York County, from the Susquehanna riverfront in Goldsboro and York Haven — where homes date to the early 1800s and staircases run narrow and steep — to the Newberrytown historic village, laid out in 1791, full of farmhouses with curved stairwells that demand custom rail fabrication. The I-83 corridor brought newer construction: The Woods subdivision off Old Trail Road, built by McNaughton Homes, features open-concept layouts with straight flights, while the Valley Green townhome community sits on the former golf course land with multi-level units. Out toward Paddletown and the Conewago Heights crossings, you find a mix of 20th-century split-levels and rural Cape Cods near Yocumtown.

Common Questions

Everything Newberry Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Newberry Township?

A straight stairlift in Newberry Township starts at $2,800 installed. Curved lifts, custom-built for your staircase after a 1-hour laser measurement on site, start at $9,000. Outdoor units for porch or deck access start at $4,000. These prices include the rail, seat, installation, and a 5-year warranty. The final number depends on stair length, number of turns, and whether you need a heavy-duty unit (600 lb capacity, from $5,050).

Why do curved stairlifts cost more in older Newberrytown homes?

Curved lifts are fabricated to match your exact staircase — every turn, landing, and angle. In a 1790s Newberrytown farmhouse, the stair geometry is unique. There's no stock rail that fits. A technician spends about an hour taking laser measurements of every tread and riser, then the rail is bent at the factory to those specifications. That custom fabrication plus the additional rail material drives the cost. The result is a rail that follows the original staircase without forcing you to modify the home.

Is an outdoor stairlift worth the cost in Pennsylvania weather?

For homes in Goldsboro, York Haven, and other areas where the main entrance involves exterior steps, an outdoor lift can be the difference between getting out for a VA appointment or staying inside all winter. The outdoor units are IP55-rated — weather-sealed against rain, snow, and the freeze-thaw cycles common in south-central PA. Components are stainless to resist corrosion in humid riverfront air. Starting at $4,000, it's a one-time install that holds up through multiple winters.

Can I finance a stairlift in Newberry Township?

Yes. Financing starts at $79/month through our lending partners. Many Newberry Township families combine financing with one of the local funding programs — the YCAAA Home Modification Program for seniors 60+, the PA Accessible Housing Program (PAHP) for low-to-moderate-income residents with disabilities, or the VA HISA grant for veterans ($6,800 for those with a service-connected disability). Luis can walk you through which programs apply to your situation at the free in-home assessment.

A word from Luis

Newberry Township is one of those places where every house tells you a different story. You've got 1790s farmhouses in Newberrytown with staircases that turn twice — I've measured a dozen of those for curved rails. Then five miles away in The Woods, you're looking at a clean straight flight with oak treads, done in three hours. The Conewago Creek cuts right through here, and the homes on the south side tend to be older, tighter stairwells. On the north end, toward Yocumtown, it's mostly 1970s split-levels. I keep a rail kit for each type in the van because I never know which one I'm walking into that day.

What I tell families here is that the install itself is never the hard part. The hard part is watching someone give up the upstairs because they're afraid of falling. Once that rail is bolted to the treads and they test it the first time — that changes. For the older homes around Goldsboro and York Haven especially, where the stairs are narrow and the turns are tight, the curved rail gives them back the whole house. I did a curved install on Paddletown Road last month for a woman whose bedroom had been on the second floor since 1963. She hadn't been up there in eight months. Three hours after we finished, she was back in her own bed.

— Luis Ramírez, Newberry
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Newberry Township's location between Harrisburg and York means most families here are within a 25-minute drive of the York VA Clinic at 2251 Eastern Boulevard — the CBOC satellite of Lebanon VA Medical Center — where the HISA grant paperwork starts. For veterans with a service-connected disability rating, that's up to $6,800 toward a stairlift, tax-free and never repaid. The Community HealthChoices (CHC) waiver through Pennsylvania's Office of Long-Term Living can also cover home modifications for those dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid, and the York County Area Agency on Aging runs a home modification program for seniors 60 and older.

Whether the house is a 1790s stone farmhouse in Newberrytown with a double-turn staircase or a 2005 Colonial in The Woods with a straight flight off the foyer, the lift gets measured, fabricated, and bolted to the treads — no wall damage, no rewiring. Three to four hours for a straight rail. One day with a morning laser scan for a curved one. Battery backup runs through the PA winter outages that knock out power along the Conewago Creek corridor. Call us at (800) 965-0350 and Luis will be out to measure within the week.
