Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Cumberland County

Cumberland County, PA

Lower Allen Township covers the West Shore from Rossmoyne and Beacon Hill near New Cumberland, west through Highland Estates and Allendale, out to Sheepford Crossing, Peters Field, and the Highland Park area near Camp Hill. Homes built between 1945 and 1980 dominate — ranches with straight 12-step staircases, split-levels with two short flights, and colonials where a landing turn means a curved rail. The township runs south to Yellow Breeches Creek. Cedar Cliff High School sits near the center, and Lower Allen Community Park on Lisburn Road anchors the recreational space. Many homes still have original oak treads under decades of carpet — we see that daily at the assessment.

Straight

Classic Straight Rail on Oak Treads in Beacon Hill

Beacon Hill, PA Installed March 2026

The Pattersons' 1963 ranch in Beacon Hill had a straight 12-step staircase with original oak treads — dark-stained, well-maintained, but steep. Mrs. Patterson, 78, had stopped using the upstairs bathroom because climbing the stairs left her winded. Luis installed a beige straight-rail lift, bolted to the treads, with the seat parked at the bottom landing. The rail color was matched to the warm wood tones.

Curved

Curved Rail Around a Mid-Landing in Rossmoyne

Rossmoyne, PA Installed April 2026

The Delgados' 1972 colonial in Rossmoyne had a staircase that rose eight steps to a landing, then turned 90 degrees left for another six steps to the upper hallway. Mr. Delgado, 82, had fallen on the landing the previous winter. Luis spent 55 minutes on site with the laser measurement tool, mapping every rise, tread depth, and the turn radius.

Compact Straight Rail in an Allendale Cape Cod

Allendale, PA Installed January 2026

The Hendersons' 1958 Cape Cod in Allendale had the classic narrow staircase — 32 inches wide, 13 steps, stone-look tile treads. Mrs. Henderson, 74, needed a straight lift but worried it would block the hallway at the bottom. Luis mounted the rail close to the wall and positioned the folding seat to leave 21 inches of walking clearance. The brown upholstered chair matched the warm tones of the living room furniture visible from the staircase.

Outdoor

Outdoor Lift on a Sheepford Crossing Porch Entry

Sheepford Crossing, PA Installed March 2026

The Colemans' split-level in Sheepford Crossing had a front entry with five stone-paved steps up to the porch — handsome but unusable for Mr. Coleman after his stroke. Luis installed a cream-colored outdoor stairlift with IP55 weather sealing and a gasketed motor housing rated for Pennsylvania's freeze-thaw winters. The rail was anchored to the stone treads with stainless steel brackets. A waterproof seat cover protects the upholstery when not in use.

Straight Rail on Carpeted Stairs Near Peters Field

Peters Field, PA Installed February 2026

The Kowalskis' 1978 two-story near Peters Field had a standard straight staircase with beige wall-to-wall carpet. Mr. Kowalski, 80, needed a lift but his wife worried the carpet would be ruined. Luis explained the brackets bolt through the carpet directly into the wooden treads underneath — a small slit at each bracket point, hidden entirely under the rail. The brown upholstered seat nearly matched the carpet tone.

Platform Lift

Inclined Platform Lift in a Highland Estates Two-Story

Highland Estates, PA Installed November 2025

Mr. Rivera, 68, uses a wheelchair full-time after a spinal injury. The family's 1985 two-story in Highland Estates had a straight 14-step staircase with no room for a vertical lift. Luis installed an indoor inclined wheelchair platform lift — a flat black deck with yellow safety edges and an integrated white handrail.

Common Questions

Everything Lower Allen Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Lower Allen Township?

A straight stairlift for a standard Lower Allen staircase starts at $2,800 installed. Curved lifts, built to match a landing turn in an older colonial or Cape Cod, start at $9,000. Outdoor units for deck or porch stairs start at $4,000. All prices include the assessment, rail, installation, and a demo of how the lift works. Financing runs $79/month. The final number depends on rail length, turn geometry, and any power-outlet work — but you get a firm quote at the free in-home visit.

Why do curved stairlifts cost more in Lower Allen?

Curved rails are not off-the-shelf. Every curved staircase in the township — whether it's a 1950s colonial near Cedar Cliff High School or a split-level in Rossmoyne with a mid-landing turn — requires a custom rail. We spend about an hour on site with a laser measurement tool, mapping every step, rise, and turn. The rail is then fabricated to those exact dimensions. The $9,000 starting price reflects that custom manufacturing and the longer install time.

Are there any hidden fees with stairlift installation in Lower Allen?

No hidden fees. The quote you get after the in-home assessment is the price you pay. It covers the rail, the chair, the install labor, and the walkthrough. If we need to add an outlet near the staircase — common in some 1950s homes in Beacon Hill where there's no plug at the top of the stairs — we tell you at the assessment. That runs about $150–$200 through a local electrician we can coordinate.

What financing options are available for a stairlift in Cumberland County?

We offer financing starting at $79/month. Many Lower Allen families combine financing with a VA HISA grant ($6,800 for service-connected veterans) or the Pennsylvania Community HealthChoices waiver, which covers home modifications for Medicaid-eligible residents. The PA Accessible Housing Program (PAHP) is another option — a state grant for low-to-moderate-income homeowners and renters with disabilities. We help you sort through which programs apply at the assessment.

A word from Luis

Lower Allen is one of the more interesting townships I work in because the housing stock is all over the place. You've got 1950s Cape Cods in Allendale with the classic steep interior staircase — 12 steps, narrow, often a turn at the top landing. Then half a mile away in Rossmoyne, it's a 1970s split-level with a wider stair but two short flights. I've put straight rails in ranch homes along Lisburn Road and curved rails through the landings of older colonials off Gettysburg Road. What I tell every family at the assessment is the same: the house tells us what it needs, and we listen.

The West Shore is tight-knit. A lot of my customers are adult kids who grew up here and moved back, or never left, and now they're helping their parents stay in the house. Yellow Breeches Creek is the southern boundary of the township — some of those homes have walkout basements with long staircases to the main level, different geometry from a standard two-story. We've done plenty of them. The Cumberland County VA Clinic on Ritter Road handles all the HISA paperwork for local vets — I've walked a dozen families through that process in Lower Allen alone.

— Luis Ramírez, Lower Allen
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Lower Allen Township sits at the center of the West Shore — three miles from Harrisburg, a short drive to Mechanicsburg, and bordered by Yellow Breeches Creek to the south. The township's post-war housing stock means a lot of families are now helping parents stay in homes they bought forty or fifty years ago. A stairlift is often the one modification that makes that work.

Whether you're in a Cape Cod in Allendale, a split-level in Rossmoyne, or a ranch along Gettysburg Road, the assessment visit tells us exactly what your staircase needs. Straight rail, curved rail, outdoor lift for a porch entry — we handle all of it. Call Luis at the number above to set up a free in-home measurement.
