Expert Stairlift Installation in Elizabethtown, PA

Masonic Village sits right inside Elizabethtown's borough limits — one of the larger continuing-care retirement communities in Lancaster County — and it shapes how a lot of families here think about aging in place. The 2020 census counted 15.9% of residents 65 or older, and with employers like Elizabethtown College, Mars Chocolate North America, and Continental Press keeping the borough full of working families, plenty of my calls are adult kids trying to keep a parent in their own house rather than moving them onto the Masonic Village campus. The borough's post-WWII growth pushed newer split-levels and ranches out into what used to be farmland, while the older 1827 Center Square core still has the tighter staircases you'd expect from a town that age.

Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Lancaster County

Lancaster County, PA

Elizabethtown borough runs about 11,500 residents across a walkable downtown grid and a growth belt. Homes off East High Street, South Mount Joy Street, East Willow Street, and Groff Avenue are late 1800s to 1930s — narrow oak treads, taller risers, straight rails under 13 feet. The East Willow Street corridor near Elizabethtown College picks up 1960s-1980s split-levels where a curved rail handles the winder landing. Masonic Village on the west side is a 1,400-acre CCRC — we do cottage-side installs when residents' stairs need a rail the campus standard does not cover. Outlying Rheems, Bainbridge along Conoy Creek, and the Westbrooke Hills belt on Route 283 hold modern wider-tread subdivisions.

Common Questions

Everything Elizabethtown Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding, no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost for a home in Elizabethtown?

Straight staircases run less than curved ones, and Elizabethtown has a genuine mix of both — the newer split-levels and ranches from the borough's post-WWII expansion mostly have simple straight runs, while homes closer to the 1827 Center Square core sometimes have a turn or half-landing that needs a custom curved rail. Either way, the PA Assistive Technology Foundation (PATF) offers a Mini-Loan up to $7,000 at 0% interest, or a Low-Interest Loan over $7,000 at 3.75% up to $60,000 total, with no income limit — that's usually the first place I point Elizabethtown families before they even look at Medicaid.

Is a stairlift a one-time expense, or does it come with ongoing costs?

It's a purchase, not a subscription — you pay once for the unit and the install, plus whatever service you choose to schedule down the road. Homeownership in Elizabethtown runs around 54%, lower than a lot of fully owner-occupied suburbs, so I see more renters and family members buying for a house they don't own outright than in some other towns. For a shorter-term need, like someone transitioning off the Masonic Village campus back into a relative's home for a while, a rental unit usually makes more financial sense than buying outright.

A word from Luis
A fair number of my Elizabethtown jobs are folks trying to avoid a move onto the Masonic Village campus, or bringing a parent back off it into a family member's house instead — I've put lifts in a few homes within walking distance of Center Square with staircases that still match that original 1827 footprint, narrow and a little steep. Conoy Creek runs through the south side of town toward the Susquehanna, and the newer construction down that way tends to have wider, straighter runs that go in fast, no custom rail needed. Between Masonic Village, the college, and Mars keeping this a working town instead of just a retirement stop, I see both ends of it — young families installing for a grandparent moving in, and seniors installing to stay put themselves.

Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Elizabethtown is a borough where a stairlift has to respect a 1910 row-home on East High Street, the winder landing in a 1970s split-level near Elizabethtown College, and the wider tread of a newer Westbrooke Hills home — all in the same week. One template does not fit.

Call the number above and I will measure your stairs myself — no sub-contractors, no sales script. If you are a CHC Waiver participant or a veteran filing HISA through the Lancaster County VA Clinic (212 Willow Valley Lakes Dr, Willow Street), I will pre-fill the itemized quote you need so approval runs in weeks, not months. Straight rails install in about two weeks, curved in four to six.
