The Emergency Home Repair Program (up to $10,000, same 609-265-5072 line) is scoped to inoperative heating, water, and electrical systems and defective roofs — an immediate-hazard program, not accessibility work. The Sheriff's Department's Residential Maintenance Program is a free home-security service (locks, minor repairs to deter crime), not a mobility-modification program, despite showing up in the county's aging-services directory.
Jersey Assistance for Community Caregiving (JACC) is a state-funded, non-Medicaid program capped at $929.88 a month, or $11,158.56 a year, covering the full package of home-modification help, not just a lift. NJ Medicaid MLTSS can fund a stairlift through its HCBS waiver with no fixed dollar cap, based on the approved Plan of Care. Veterans have their own path: VA Prosthetics can cover the lift itself with no set cap when medically prescribed, and HISA grants add up to $6,800 for service-connected veterans or $2,000 for non-service-connected veterans toward the surrounding structural work.
