Stairlift Service Across Montgomery County

Montgomery County, MD

Redland's residential streets branch out from the Muncaster Mill Road corridor, with neighborhoods reflecting Montgomery County's suburban expansion from the 1970s through the 1990s. Mill Creek Towne features colonials and split-levels from the mid-1970s — most with 13- to 15-step straight staircases on standard-width oak treads. Derwood Station mixes single-family homes and townhouses near the Shady Grove Metro, many with carpeted stairs and tight upper-landing turns. Needwood Estates offers larger homes on wooded lots near Rock Creek Regional Park, where curved staircases with mid-flight landings are common. Park Overlook and the Muncaster Mill corridor include 1980s and 1990s construction — predominantly straight-flight stairs.

Straight

1974 Split-Level in Mill Creek Towne

Mill Creek Towne, MD Installed March 2026

Classic 1974 split-level with dark oak treads — 14 steps, straight flight, standard 36-inch width. The Morrisons needed a lift for the grandmother who had moved into the downstairs bedroom but needed bathroom access upstairs. Rail bolted to the treads in three hours. The cream upholstery seat parked at the bottom landing blends with the warm wood tones of the entryway.

Curved Rail in Needwood Estates Colonial

Needwood Estates, MD Installed January 2026

Spacious colonial backing up to wooded parkland — the staircase curves 90 degrees at a half-wall upper landing beneath a chandelier. The custom-bent rail follows the inside radius precisely, with the brown seat parked at the top floor. Laser measurement took one hour on site. The rail color was matched to the existing banister and trim for a near-invisible look.

Historic Derwood Cottage Fit

Historic Derwood, MD Installed February 2026

Turn-of-the-century vernacular cottage with stone-tile treads — only 30 inches wide. The brown seat unit was mounted at the bottom near a wooden sideboard. Tighter spacing between treads and the narrow width meant a compact rail profile was essential. The lift folds to 12 inches when parked, leaving a clear walking path for the Crawfords' daily use.

Porch Entry in Park Overlook

Park Overlook, MD Installed October 2025

Outdoor install on a rough stone-paved porch entry — six steps up from the driveway. The cream seat unit is IP55 weather-sealed with marine-grade upholstery and a powder-coated rail rated for Maryland's freeze-thaw cycles. The Vances' father uses it daily year-round. Rail mounted directly into the stone with anchor bolts.

Carpeted Stairs in Derwood Station Townhouse

Derwood Station, MD Installed April 2026

Townhouse near the Shady Grove Metro — 13 carpeted steps in beige that nearly matched the brown seat upholstery. The Nguyens needed a lift for an aging parent who could no longer manage the climb to the bedroom level. Tiled floor at the base landing. Straight rail bolted through the carpet into the sub-treads in three hours.

Indoor Platform Lift in Muncaster Manor

Muncaster Manor, MD Installed February 2026

1980s colonial on a quiet cul-de-sac off Redland Road. The Harris family needed a wheelchair solution — a flat black deck platform with yellow safety edges, indoor-rated, rated to 600 lb. White handrail along the wall side. The unit follows the straight flight up 14 steps. Their son, a wheelchair user, now reaches the second floor independently.

Common Questions

Everything Redland Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

How much does a stairlift cost in Redland?

A straight stairlift for a standard Redland colonial staircase — 13 to 15 steps, straight flight — starts at $2,800 installed. Curved lifts, which are custom-built to your specific stair geometry, start at $9,000. Outdoor lifts for porch or deck stairs start at $4,000, and heavy-duty units rated to 600 lb start at $5,050. Every quote includes the in-home assessment, rail fabrication, professional installation, and a 5-year warranty with lifetime rail coverage.

Does the $2,800 price include installation in Redland?

Yes. The $2,800 starting price covers the full install — the assessment, the rail, the seat unit, and the labor to bolt the rail to your stair treads. Most Redland installs take about 3 hours. There is no extra charge for travel within Montgomery County, and we do not use subcontractors — Luis or a member of his direct team handles every job.

Are there cheaper options for a straight staircase in Redland?

We offer refurbished straight stairlifts starting around $1,800 for Redland homeowners on a tighter budget. These units are factory-inspected, come with new batteries and upholstery, and carry the same 5-year warranty. For families who qualify, Maryland's Accessible Homes for Seniors program provides grants up to $25,000 for accessibility work, and the VA HISA grant covers up to $6,800 — which can bring your out-of-pocket cost to zero.

Do you offer financing for Redland residents?

Yes. Financing starts at $79 per month. There is no prepayment penalty, and most applicants get a decision same-day. We also help Redland families stack multiple funding sources — for example, pairing a VA HISA grant with Maryland's Community First Choice Medicaid program or the Montgomery County Design for Life property tax credit — to reduce or eliminate out-of-pocket costs.

A word from Luis

I've installed lifts in just about every neighborhood between Muncaster Mill Road and Shady Grove. The split-levels in Mill Creek Towne from the 1970s — those are the ones where I see families struggling the most. Straight staircases, but steep, and the landing at the top is tighter than you'd think. Three hours, bolts into the treads, and your mom can get upstairs without anyone hovering behind her.

The older homes in the Historic Derwood district are a different challenge. Turn-of-the-century construction, narrow stairs — sometimes 30 inches wide. But we've put curved rails into several of those, and it works. The rail hugs the wall and the seat folds up when not in use. Nobody has to give up the house they've lived in for 40 years.

What most Redland families don't know is that Maryland's Community First Choice program through Medicaid can cover a stairlift, and Montgomery County's own Design for Life tax credit can offset the cost if you're making other accessibility upgrades. Between that and the VA's HISA grant — $6,800 for service-connected veterans processed through the Montgomery County VA Clinic on Gaither Drive — the out-of-pocket cost is often a lot lower than people expect.

— Luis Ramírez, Redland
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Redland isn't a place people tend to leave. The neighborhoods are quiet, the schools are strong, and Rock Creek Regional Park is five minutes away. But the houses that made sense at 45 — the colonials with 14 steps, the split-levels with that short flight to the bedrooms — start to feel like a daily risk by 75. A stairlift lets you keep the house and drop the worry. No remodeling, no move, no giving up the garden you've tended for 30 years.

If you're in Mill Creek Towne, Derwood Station, Needwood Estates, or anywhere along the Muncaster Mill corridor, give Luis a call. He'll come out, measure your stairs, and tell you exactly what it takes — usually about three hours once the rail arrives. The assessment is free, and he can walk you through every funding option that applies in Maryland, from VA grants to Medicaid waivers to the Accessible Homes for Seniors grant of up to $25,000.
