Stairlift Service Across Passaic County

Passaic County, NJ

The Third Ward and First Ward between Main Avenue and the Passaic River hold the densest concentration of pre-war two-families — brick facades, steep interior stairs, narrow lots, and plaster-walled stairwells where our slim-profile rail is the only model that fits. The East Side along Gregory Avenue has older single-family Colonials and Cape Cods from the 1940s with wider, more conventional staircases — standard straight rails install in under four hours. Passaic Park in the southwest has the city's largest concentration of owner-occupied homes, many 1920s and 1930s Tudors with original hardwood treads and formal banisters owners want preserved. The West Side between Paulison Avenue and the Clifton border blends two-families and small apartment buildings with the occasional 1960s raised ranch needing split-level treatment.

Third Ward two-family — slim-profile rail in a 27-inch stairwell

Third Ward, NJ Installed March 2026

A 1924 brick two-family on Monroe Street with a 27-inch-wide interior staircase between plaster walls. Sra. Medina owns the building and lives on the second floor. Two other companies told her the stairs were too narrow. We installed the slim-profile rail, bolted into the original hardwood treads, with the seat and footrest folding to just 11 inches from the wall. Her tenant on the first floor walks past the parked chair every morning without turning sideways. Luis conducted the entire consultation in Spanish. Sra. Medina rode the lift upstairs that evening carrying a bag of groceries on her lap — the first time she hadn't needed her grandson to carry them in three months.

First Ward walk-up — curved rail around a tight 90-degree upper turn

First Ward, NJ Installed February 2026

A 1918 three-family walk-up on Passaic Street where the interior staircase makes a 90-degree turn at the second-floor landing before continuing to the third. Mr. Alvarez, 81, had been sleeping in the living room since November after a hip replacement at St. Mary's in Passaic. We laser-scanned the full run, fabricated a curved rail that threads the tight upper turn, and installed a swivel-exit seat so Mr. Alvarez steps off onto the second-floor hallway instead of the top tread. His NJ MLTSS plan through Horizon covered the full cost. Mrs. Alvarez cried when he walked into their bedroom for the first time in three months.

Passaic Park Colonial — straight rail on original hardwood treads beside a walnut banister

Passaic Park, NJ Installed January 2026

A 1938 Colonial in Passaic Park with original hardwood treads, a turned-spindle banister, and a wooden sideboard at the bottom landing. Mrs. Jankowski made it clear the front hall needed to look the same as it always had. We matched the rail finish to the existing walnut tone, bolted the track into the treads only — never touched the banister or the spindles — and positioned the parked seat flush against the wall at the bottom. Her son drove over from Rutherford for the install and stayed to learn the controls. The banister is untouched. The front hall looks the same. Thanksgiving is still at her house.

East Side row house — outdoor lift on a stone-paved front stoop that ices every winter

East Side, NJ Installed December 2025

A 1940s row house on Gregory Avenue with eight concrete exterior steps from the sidewalk to the front door — rough stone paving, no handrail, and a north-facing exposure that ices over from December through March. Mr. Petrov, a retired machinist, slipped on those steps in February 2025 and spent two weeks at St. Mary's General Hospital. His daughter in Wallington found us the week he came home. We anchored the outdoor rail into the stone treads with stainless-steel wedge bolts, sealed the motor housing to IP55 against the North Jersey freeze-thaw cycle, and installed the cold-weather battery rated to -20°F. The cream-colored seat parks at the top beside the front door.

West Side raised ranch — straight rail on carpeted stairs after knee surgery

West Side, NJ Installed November 2025

A 1965 raised ranch near the Clifton border with a standard 13-step carpeted staircase from the entry foyer to the main living level. Mrs. Okonkwo's bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom are all upstairs. After bilateral knee replacement at Hackensack University Medical Center, her orthopedist told her no stairs for eight weeks. We bolted the rail through the carpet and pad into the tread lumber, tested the full cycle, and walked Mrs. Okonkwo through the controls in under three hours. The brown upholstery matches the carpet tones. She rode it upstairs that evening and slept in her own bed for the first time in two weeks.

Platform Lift

First Ward two-family — indoor wheelchair platform lift for a resident who cannot transfer to a seat

First Ward, NJ Installed October 2025

A 1920s two-family on River Drive where Mr. Santiago uses a wheelchair full-time and cannot transfer to a seated stairlift. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift on the indoor stairway — a flat, anti-slip platform with high-visibility yellow safety edges and a white handrail that lets him roll on at the bottom, ride the incline, and roll off at the upper landing without leaving his chair. The warm orange-toned walls of the stairwell frame the unit cleanly. His application through the Passaic County Board of Social Services covered a portion of the cost, and he financed the remainder at $62/month through one of our lending partners.

Common Questions

Everything Passaic Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in a Passaic two-family right now?

Straight rails in the typical Passaic two-family — the pre-war walk-ups along Monroe Street, Passaic Street, Gregory Avenue — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed, including the slim-profile model if the staircase is narrower than 28 inches. Curved rails for the occasional mid-landing turn or 90-degree upper bend run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor lifts for front stoops run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

I'm a tenant in a Passaic walk-up. Can I still get a stairlift installed?

Yes. Under the NJ Law Against Discrimination (N.J.S.A. 10:5-1) and the federal Fair Housing Amendments Act, landlords must permit reasonable accessibility modifications for tenants with documented disabilities. The tenant typically pays for the installation, and the landlord may require restoration to the original condition at move-out — though a stairlift bolted into treads leaves only small pilot holes that a carpenter fills in an hour. We provide the reasonable-accommodation request letter, the landlord notification packet, and the restoration-clause language at no charge. Most Passaic landlords we've worked with sign off within a week.

Do you charge more for the slim-profile model that fits narrow Passaic stairs?

The slim-profile model is priced within the same range as our standard straight rail — $2,800 to $5,500 depending on rail length and site conditions. We do not tack on a "narrow staircase surcharge." National chains that quote Passaic walk-ups either turn the job down or add $1,000 to $2,000 for the narrowness. We carry the slim-profile rail as standard inventory because this is the market we work in every week.

Do you charge extra for Spanish-language service?

No. The majority of our Passaic assessments are conducted entirely in Spanish. Luis is bilingual and handles every step — the phone call, the home visit, the measurement, the quote explanation, the install-day walkthrough, and the follow-up call — in Spanish at zero surcharge. Every printed quote, consent form, operating manual, and safety reference card is available in Spanish. This is not a courtesy we offer in Passaic. It is how we do business here.

A word from Luis

Most Passaic families call me after the same moment — a stumble on the steep interior stairs of a two-family on Monroe Street, a mother who hasn't been to the second floor since a fall in March, a daughter in Garfield calling because her parents' walk-up on Passaic Street has no elevator and never will.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure the staircase once, and leave you with a written price honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español desde la primera llamada — la mayoría de mis visitas en Passaic son en español.
