Stairlift Service Across Passaic County

Passaic County, NJ

From the historic Botany Village — where early-1900s worker housing built for the Botany Worsted Mills packs narrow staircases into tight two-family footprints that most installers refuse to touch — to the tree-lined Colonial Revivals and Cape Cods of Athenia along Van Houten Avenue, our team has measured staircases in every section of Clifton. We know which Richfield Colonials have the wide, formal entries where aesthetics matter as much as function, which Allwood and Delawanna split-levels have the exposed north-facing front steps that ice over every winter and need outdoor rails, and which Botany Village two-families have staircases under 28 inches wide that require the slim-profile rail model.

Richfield Colonial — straight rail on original hardwood oak treads

Richfield, NJ Installed March 2026

A 1952 Colonial Revival in Richfield with original oak treads, a formal banister, and a homeowner who made it clear that nothing visible should change in her front hall. Mrs. Papadopoulos had lived in this house for 38 years and hosted Easter dinner for the extended family every spring — she wasn't about to let a stairlift turn her entryway into something that looked institutional. We matched the rail finish to the existing oak tone, bolted the track into the treads only, and positioned the parked seat flush against the wall at the bottom landing. Her daughter drove over from Woodland Park for the install and stayed to learn the controls. Mrs. Papadopoulos rode it upstairs that evening carrying a laundry basket on her lap — the first time she'd done laundry upstairs in four months.

1928 Athenia Cape Cod — curved rail around the tight upper landing

Athenia, NJ Installed February 2026

A 1928 Cape Cod on a tree-lined street in Athenia with a narrow staircase that turns 90 degrees at the upper landing before opening into a short hallway. The landing is barely three feet square — standard in Cape Cods of that era — and a straight rail was impossible. Mr. Mancini had a stroke in October and spent five weeks at St. Joseph's in Paterson before coming home to a staircase he could no longer climb safely. We laser-scanned the full run during the first visit, fabricated a curved rail that threads the tight upper turn, and installed a swivel-exit seat so he steps off onto the hallway floor instead of the top tread. The rail parks flush at the bottom and the footrest folds flat so Mrs. Mancini can walk the stairs normally beside it.

Botany Village two-family — straight rail on stone-trimmed interior stairs

Botany Village, NJ Installed January 2026

A 1910 two-family in the historic Botany Village district — originally worker housing for the Botany Worsted Mills — with steep, narrow interior stairs and stone-trimmed risers typical of the industrial-era construction in this part of Clifton. The Reyes family lives on both floors: abuela downstairs, the younger family upstairs. The staircase is only 28 inches wide between walls, which two other companies said was too narrow. We installed the slim-profile rail model that requires just 11 inches of stair width, bolted into the original hardwood treads, and confirmed the remaining 17 inches of clearance met NJ code. Luis walked abuela through every control in Spanish and left a Spanish-language manual. She rides up for dinner with the grandchildren every evening now.

Allwood split-level — outdoor lift on stone-paved front entry steps

Allwood, NJ Installed December 2025

A 1960s split-level in Allwood with six stone-paved exterior steps from the driveway up to the front entry — no handrail, no landing, and a north-facing exposure that ices over every winter. Mr. Kowalski slipped on those steps in January 2025 and fractured his wrist. His daughter in Montclair called us the week he got out of the cast. We anchored the outdoor rail into the stone treads with stainless-steel wedge bolts, sealed the motor housing to IP55 against the North Jersey freeze-thaw cycle, and added the cold-weather battery spec rated to -20°F. The lift has run through a full NJ winter — ice, road salt spray, nor'easter wind — without a service call. Mr. Kowalski no longer waits for his daughter to drive over before leaving the house.

Delawanna raised ranch — straight rail on carpeted stairs, quick install

Delawanna, NJ Installed November 2025

A 1970s raised ranch in Delawanna with a standard 13-step carpeted staircase from the entry foyer up to the main living level. Mrs. Okonkwo's bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom are all upstairs — the entire daily living floor is accessed by those stairs. After bilateral knee replacement surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center, her orthopedist told her to avoid stairs for eight weeks. Her son found us online and scheduled the assessment for the same week. We bolted the rail through the carpet and pad into the tread lumber, tested the full cycle, and walked Mrs. Okonkwo through the controls in under three hours. She rode it home from the hospital the following Monday without touching a single stair.

Platform Lift

Clifton split-level — indoor wheelchair platform lift with yellow safety edges

Allwood, NJ Installed October 2025

A 1965 split-level in Allwood where the main living area sits five steps above the garage-level entry — the classic North Jersey split-level layout. Mr. Petrov is a full-time wheelchair user after a motorcycle accident and a seated stairlift was never an option. We installed an indoor inclined platform lift with bright yellow safety edges around the platform perimeter, a keyed lockout switch, and an automatic gate at the upper landing. The flat anti-slip platform carries him and his chair from the entry to the living room along the stair rail. The yellow safety edges are required under ASME A18.1 and provide a visible boundary that halts the platform if anything crosses the plane. His NJ MLTSS plan through UnitedHealthcare covered the full cost — we handled the prior authorization with his Care Manager.

Common Questions

Everything Clifton Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Clifton right now?

Straight rails in standard Clifton homes — the Richfield Colonials, the Delawanna raised ranches, the Athenia Cape Cods — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you'll need for the Cape Cod upper-landing turns in Athenia and the split-level entry bends across Allwood and Delawanna, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is custom-manufactured for your exact staircase. Outdoor models sealed for the North Jersey freeze-thaw cycle run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and covers rail, seat, battery backup, installation, and first service visit.

Is Clifton more expensive than other North Jersey towns?

Equipment costs are identical across our NJ coverage area — we don't inflate quotes for Clifton, Montclair, or Woodland Park addresses. What can vary slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: the narrow two-family staircases in Botany Village that require the slim-profile model, the tight Cape Cod landing turns in Athenia, or pulling an electrical permit for a new dedicated circuit in a pre-war home. Every cost is itemized on the written quote before you sign. No surprise surcharges.

Why is Clifton listed as a 'premium' affordability band?

North Jersey real estate prices are high, but stairlift prices are not. Equipment and installation costs are the same as anywhere in our coverage area. What 'premium' means for our purposes is that most Clifton homeowners have significant home equity — which gives you more financing options, stronger HELOC rates, and a larger IRS medical deduction if you itemize. We walk through all the math during the free assessment.

Do you charge extra for two-family homes in Botany Village?

No. The install is priced by the staircase, not the building type. What does matter is the stair width — the early-1900s two-families in Botany Village often have staircases under 30 inches wide, which requires our slim-profile rail model. That model is the same price as the standard. The only scenario where a two-family install costs more is if the building has two separate staircases and you want lifts on both.

A word from Luis

Most Clifton families call me after a near-miss on a steep set of stairs — a slip on the narrow treads in a Botany Village two-family, a parent who hasn't been to the second floor of her Richfield Colonial in weeks after a hip replacement, a son in Hoboken worried about his mother alone in the Athenia Cape Cod she's lived in for 40 years.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a written price that's good for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
