Miramar is an elongated city of about 31 square miles at a very low 7 ft elevation on the southern Broward flatland; a 2017 study ranked it fifth among U.S. cities most vulnerable to coastal flooding, with 93,000 residents inside FEMA's coastal floodplain.

West of the turnpike, Miramar's newer two-story homes often hide a retiree who spent a career at Spirit Airlines or Comcast and simply stopped climbing to the primary suite upstairs. These modern staircases are easy to fit, so the real work is scheduling around your family's timeline, not fighting the architecture. Tell me when works and I'll build the install around it.

What makes Miramar different
Why a stairlift installed in Miramar, FL is planned around the way this specific community lives, not stamped out from a one-size-fits-all template.
Miramar began in 1955 when developer A.L. Mailman built 56 inexpensive concrete flat-roofed homes; the city adopted a Comprehensive Land Use Plan in 1972 ahead of any state mandate, and roughly two-thirds of the land within city limits remains undeveloped, driving newer master-planned growth in western Miramar.

Stairlift Service Across Broward County
From the 1990s CBS two-stories of Silver Lakes, where anchoring means drilling through hardwood or tile into concrete substrate, to the 2000s Mediterranean-style homes of Riviera Isles with grand foyer staircases and wrought-iron balustrades that curved rails must thread past, our team has installed in every major Miramar subdivision. We know which Sunset Lakes gated communities have HOA boards that approve fastest, which Huntington originals from the late 1980s have the ceramic tile treads that require diamond-tip drill bits, and which Harbour Lakes guard-gated homes have wider staircases that accommodate wheelchair platform lifts. In Miramar Park, raised front entries with stone-paver overlays are the standard outdoor install.

Hear It From Your Miramar Neighbors
Common situations we get called out for across Miramar's neighborhoods. Drag to scroll, or use the arrows and dots below.
Our Silver Lakes home is CBS construction, concrete block stairs with hardwood on top, and the first company I called said they couldn't install on concrete. All American showed up with masonry anchors and had the rail bolted into the substrate in three hours. My mother has used it every day since March and we haven't had a single issue. The grandkids still run past her on the stairs without any trouble.
Mon mari had both knees replaced at Memorial Regional and we needed the lift working before he came home. All American scanned our Riviera Isles staircase on a Friday and had the curved rail fabricated and installed eleven days later, the day before his discharge. He rode it upstairs to our bedroom that first night. Mèsi anpil, we are grateful beyond words.
Our Sunset Lakes HOA board told me I needed architectural review for the stairlift. All American submitted the Florida Fair Housing Act accommodation request on my behalf and the board approved it in nine days without a hearing. The install itself took three hours. The HOA paperwork took longer than putting in the actual lift. I wish I'd called six months earlier.
I'm a retired Army staff sergeant, bilateral amputee, and I need my power chair to get around. The Bruce W. Carter VA in Miami prescribed the platform lift and All American handled every piece of HISA paperwork. The grant covered $6,800. From VA prescription to finished install was five weeks. The yellow safety edges on the platform are exactly what my VA OT wanted to see. Best accessibility install I've had in 20 years of dealing with the VA.
My father is 83, retired Miami-Dade Fire, and still calls his house in Huntington 'the station.' He told the installer exactly how the concrete block walls were poured in 1987. They drilled through his ceramic tile into the concrete without cracking a single tile. He checked every one with a flashlight. He said the ride is smoother than Engine 7. Coming from him, that's a five-star review.
I live in New York and my parents are in Miramar Park. My mother had a stroke and my father was carrying her down the front steps to get to doctor appointments. I found All American online, they did a FaceTime walkthrough so I could see the stairs and hear the quote in real time, and installed the outdoor lift three days later. Mom rides down to the driveway on her own now. Dad says he can finally sleep through the night.

Everything Miramar Homeowners Actually Ask
Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding, no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.
What's a stairlift going to cost in a newer Miramar home?
Most of what I quote in western Miramar's newer subdivisions is a straight run on a two-story floor plan, which is the least expensive configuration since the rail doesn't need custom bends. If your stair turns at a landing, more common in some of the city's older sections near the eastern edge, expect a curved-rail quote instead, priced higher because that track is bent to order for your exact stair. Miramar's median household income runs around $81,812, on the higher side for Broward, and I still see most families either finance the purchase or pair it with a program from the list below rather than write one check.
Does Miramar's flood risk affect what a stairlift costs or how it's installed?
Not directly. A 2017 study ranked Miramar fifth nationally for coastal flood vulnerability, with roughly 93,000 residents inside the FEMA coastal floodplain, but that's a concern for the home's foundation and insurance, not for a stairlift rail bolted to interior stair treads. I don't add any flood-related surcharge to a quote. Where it can matter is if a home was raised or retrofitted after a flood claim and the stair geometry changed, which is worth mentioning when you call so I bring the right measuring tools.
How long does installation take on a typical Miramar staircase?
On the straight staircases common in Miramar's newer western neighborhoods, install is usually done in a day, since the rail attaches to the treads themselves, so there's no wall demolition or rewiring involved. For a curved or landing staircase, which you're more likely to find in an older part of the city, we send someone out first to measure and confirm rail clearance, then schedule the install once the custom rail is fabricated.
My house is in one of the newer master-planned sections west of the turnpike. Does that change anything?
Usually it makes things easier. Homes built as part of Miramar's western expansion tend to follow current building code on stair width and railing clearance, so we rarely run into the tight pinch points that show up in older housing stock. The main thing we check on-site is landing space at the top and bottom of the stair for the swivel seat, since floor plans vary even within the same subdivision.
Will Florida Medicaid help pay for a stairlift for a Miramar resident?
Possibly. Florida's Statewide Medicaid Managed Care Long-Term Care (SMMC LTC) program can fund a Home Accessibility Adaptation, and the state's own consumer description names grab bars and a special toilet seat as examples while ruling out major changes like new carpeting, roof repairs, or plumbing systems. Stairlifts aren't listed either way, so coverage comes down to your specific managed-care plan and case manager. Call 1-800-963-5337 to ask what your plan will approve.
What does the VA actually cover for a veteran in Broward County?
The VA's HISA grant explicitly excludes "removable equipment or appliances such as portable ramps, porch lifts, and stair glides," so it won't pay for the lift itself. HISA is for structural work like widening a doorway, capped at $6,800 for a service-connected disability or $2,000 otherwise (call 1-800-827-1000). A stairlift can instead be furnished through the VA's Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service when a doctor documents medical necessity, which is a separate authority from HISA and has no fixed dollar cap.
Is there a local Broward County program that might help, beyond Medicaid and the VA?
The Area Agency on Aging of Broward County runs a Home Repair Program through the Home Touch Program and Rebuilding Together Broward, described publicly as covering carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and other minor repairs needed for health and safety. Stairlifts aren't named on the program page, so it's worth calling 954-745-9779 directly to ask whether your situation qualifies. Separately, Florida's Homestead and Senior Additional Homestead Exemption won't hand you cash for a lift, but it can reduce your property tax bill by up to $50,000 on top of the standard $50,000 exemption, which frees up money in the household budget for an accessibility upgrade like this.

A lot of my Miramar calls come out of the newer construction west of the turnpike, big two-story homes with a primary suite upstairs that somebody stopped climbing to reach. Spirit Airlines and Comcast South Florida both have a real presence here, and I meet plenty of retirees who spent their careers with one of the corporate employers in town and bought a bigger house than they now actually use. The staircases in these newer builds are usually straightforward to fit; it's more often a matter of scheduling around a family's timeline than fighting the architecture.
