Cooper City lies in the flat, low-lying South Florida coastal plain of western Broward County at just about 7 feet of elevation, covering 8.3 square miles. Its very low, flat terrain places it in a tropical, flood-prone region of the Miami metropolitan area.

What makes Cooper City different
Why a stairlift installed in Cooper City, FL is planned around the way this specific community lives, not stamped out from a one-size-fits-all template.
Cooper City, founded in 1959, is a suburban community built largely of detached single-family homes within master-planned, often gated subdivisions. Monterra, a gated master-planned community of single-family homes, was built out roughly 2010 to 2012 and ranked among the fastest-selling new-home communities in the U.S. before selling out.

Hear It From Your Cooper City Neighbors
How stairlift projects tend to go for homeowners in Cooper City. Drag to scroll, or use the arrows and dots below.
We've lived in Rock Creek since 1978. The stairs are wide and straight but my husband's hip replacement made them impossible. The crew installed the rail in three hours and bolted it through the hardwood treads cleanly. The grandkids who visit every Sunday barely noticed it was there.
I'm a Navy veteran and the Pembroke Pines VA Clinic on Sheridan Street wrote the HISA prescription within a week. All American prefilled every form and the grant covered $6,800. The lift was installed four weeks after my first call. No bureaucratic runaround, no chasing paperwork.
Our Embassy Lakes home has a 90-degree turn at the top of the foyer staircase. Two other companies said they couldn't fit a single rail without redoing the railing. All American scanned the curve and fabricated one rail that follows the wall side. The opposite railing is untouched. Five months in, zero problems.
My mother qualified for the SMMC-LTC program through Broward County and the managed care plan covered the full cost. All American handled the authorization and installed two weeks after approval. She hasn't slept on the living room couch since December. The seat folds flat against the stone-tile staircase and the hallway is still wide enough for her walker.
Dad's flagstone porch steps were a hazard every time it rained. Slippery wet stone and no handrail. He'd already fallen once. I called on Tuesday, they measured Wednesday, and installed Friday. The outdoor lift handles the rain, humidity, and South Florida sun without any issues. He uses it every day to get to his garden.
I use a power wheelchair and a standard stairlift was not an option. All American installed an inclined platform lift with yellow safety edges along the indoor stairs. The HISA grant and SMMC-LTC covered everything. I roll onto the platform and ride between floors without getting out of my chair.

Everything Cooper City Homeowners Actually Ask
Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding, no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.
What does a stairlift usually cost for a Cooper City home?
Most of Cooper City's housing stock, including Monterra and the other master-planned subdivisions, was built with straight staircases, and a straight-rail lift is the lower-cost option, generally landing somewhere in the $3,000-$5,000 range. Curved or custom staircases cost more because the rail has to be fabricated to fit the exact turns, and that's less common in a town built mostly to standard single-family plans.
Does Cooper City's high home values push stairlift prices up?
No. A stairlift is priced off the staircase -- length, number of turns, straight vs. curved -- not the neighborhood or the home's value. A house in Monterra with a standard straight staircase costs about the same to fit as a comparable staircase anywhere else in Broward County.
Do I need HOA approval to install a stairlift in Monterra or another gated subdivision?
Usually yes, at least a notification, and you'll need to arrange gate access for the install crew ahead of time. It's the most common logistical question I get from Cooper City customers, and it's worth checking your HOA's paperwork before you schedule anything so the install day isn't held up at the gate.
How long does a typical installation take in a Cooper City house?
Since most homes here were built with straight staircases, a straight-rail lift is usually a same-day install -- measure, order the rail, and it's mounted and tested in one visit once the rail arrives. A curved staircase adds lead time because that rail has to be custom-built first.
Will Florida Medicaid pay for a stairlift in Broward County?
It can, through the Statewide Medicaid Managed Care Long-Term Care program's Home Accessibility Adaptation benefit, which has no fixed dollar cap -- it's approved per individual plan of care. AHCA's public description names grab bars and toilet seats as examples and doesn't list stairlifts either way, so approval is case-by-case. Call 1-800-963-5337 to ask your plan directly.
Can a veteran in Cooper City get VA help toward a stairlift?
Not through the HISA grant -- HISA explicitly excludes stair glides, even though it covers other structural work up to $6,800 for service-connected veterans or $2,000 for non-service-connected. The route that does work is the VA Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service, which can furnish a stair glide on medical necessity with no set dollar cap. Start at 1-800-827-1000.
Are there local Broward County programs that help with the cost?
The Area Agency on Aging of Broward County runs a Home Repair Program (954-745-9779) through the Home Touch Program and Rebuilding Together Broward -- it's built around carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs and doesn't name stairlifts specifically, but it's worth a call. Two other options: FAAST's New Horizon Loan Program, a low-interest loan roughly $3,000-$30,000 for home modifications, and Florida's Homestead plus Senior Additional Homestead Exemption, which won't pay for a lift directly but can free up as much as $100,000 in taxable value to help cover it.

I get more calls out of Monterra and the other gated sections than anywhere else in Cooper City, and the first question is almost never about the lift -- it's the gate code and whether the HOA needs a heads-up before a crew shows up. The town sits low and flat, right around seven feet of elevation, so I've never had a foundation or drainage issue here complicate a rail install the way it sometimes does closer to the coast. Most jobs I run in Cooper City are a straight rail on a standard staircase, done in a day.
