Straight Stairlift

Bestseller

The workhorse of Lakeville’s two-story colonials and split-entry homes. More than 70% of the stairlifts we install in Lakeville are straight rails. They bolt directly into the stair treads — never into the wall or the banister — and the battery backup keeps the lift running through winter power outages. Every Lakeville unit ships with cold-pack batteries rated to -30°F as a baseline spec. Most two-story installs wrap in under four hours.

Stairlift Service Across Dakota County

Dakota County, MN

The defining house in Lakeville is the 1990s–2000s two-story colonial — built across Spirit of Brandtjen Farm, Raven Lake, Stone Ridge, and Lake Marion with open-plan great rooms, hardwood-tread open staircases, and 14- to 16-step runs to the bedroom level. Straight rails handle these runs and install in under four hours.

Split-entry homes are the second most common layout, concentrated along Kenyon Boulevard and the older subdivisions near downtown Lakeville. The foyer opens to a short stair run up and another down — two compact rails, one house, is a standard Lakeville install. Townhomes near Antlers Park and along I-35 have interior stairs with HOA boards that need accommodation paperwork — we handle the packet. Walkout ramblers south of County Road 50 have exterior stairs from driveway to lower-level entry — outdoor lifts with cold-pack batteries and drainage channels for ice-dam meltwater.

Spirit of Brandtjen Farm two-story — rail mounted on open hardwood treads

Spirit of Brandtjen Farm, MN Installed March 2026

A 2002 two-story colonial in Spirit of Brandtjen Farm with an open staircase off the great room — 15 hardwood oak treads, visible from the kitchen and living area. Mrs. Engstrom’s husband had a hip replacement at Fairview Ridges and his physical therapist recommended a lift before his first winter home. We bolted the rail into the existing oak treads without touching the banister or the drywall, and the beige seat folds flat at the bottom landing so it disappears when the grandchildren are running through. Cold-pack battery tested to -30°F before we left the house.

Curved rail at the upper landing in a Raven Lake two-story

Raven Lake, MN Installed February 2026

A 1998 two-story in Raven Lake with a 90° turn at the upper landing where the staircase opens onto the second-floor hallway. Mrs. Sorensen’s mother moved in after a fall at her own home and the upstairs guest suite was the only bedroom available. We digitally scanned the staircase, fabricated a curved rail that threads the 90° turn and parks the chair flush at the upper hallway, and installed in a single afternoon. The swivel-exit seat lets her step off onto the hallway floor instead of the top tread. She rides it four times a day without help.

Kenyon Green split-entry — compact rail in a traditional foyer

Kenyon Green, MN Installed January 2026

A 1995 split-entry in Kenyon Green with the classic Lakeville layout — a narrow foyer with a short stair run up to the main floor and another run down to the lower level. Mrs. Olson needed only the upstairs run for now. The foyer is compact and traditional — a wooden hall table, a potted plant on a stand, stone-tiled landing at the base. We fitted a compact straight rail that tucks tight against the wall when the seat is folded, clearing the hall table she keeps at the base of the stairs. Three hours from first bolt to walkthrough. Cold-pack battery standard.

Walkout rambler south of County Road 50 — outdoor lift on stone-paved entry

South Lakeville, MN Installed December 2025

A walkout rambler south of County Road 50 with eight exterior stone-paved steps from the driveway down to the lower-level entry. Mr. Kowalski is a retired police officer who had a knee replacement and couldn’t handle the icy descent anymore. We installed an outdoor stoop lift with a cream-white weather-resistant seat, drainage channels to prevent meltwater from pooling and re-freezing on the rail, and the cold-pack battery rated for a Minnesota winter. Natural daylight floods the entry. The lift ran through the entire January cold snap without a service call.

Lake Marion two-story — straight rail on carpeted stairs with swivel-exit

Lake Marion, MN Installed November 2025

A 2004 two-story in Lake Marion with 14 carpeted treads from the main floor to the bedroom level. Mrs. Anderson’s husband has Parkinson’s and the carpet was becoming more of a hazard than a comfort — his feet caught the pile on every step. We installed a straight rail with a swivel-exit seat that rotates 90° at the upper landing so he steps off onto the hallway carpet instead of the top tread. The brown upholstery blends with the existing carpet. He rides it six times a day and hasn’t had a near-miss since installation.

Platform Lift

Antlers Park townhome — indoor wheelchair platform with yellow safety edges

Antlers Park, MN Installed October 2025

The Nguyen family’s grandmother uses a power wheelchair after a spinal cord injury. Their Antlers Park townhome has four steps between the garage entry and the main living floor — the standard townhome layout that assumes everyone walks. A seated stairlift was not an option because she cannot transfer from the wheelchair. We installed an inclined platform lift inside the stairway with a flat anti-slip platform, yellow high-visibility safety edges, and a keyed call station at the garage level. The HOA board approved our accommodation packet in nine days. The Elderly Waiver covered the full cost through Dakota County’s lead agency.

Common Questions

Everything Lakeville Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Lakeville right now?

Straight rails in a standard Lakeville two-story — the colonials in Spirit of Brandtjen Farm, the homes in Raven Lake and Stone Ridge — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Split-entry homes that need two compact rails (one run up, one run down from the foyer) run $5,000 to $9,500 for both. Outdoor lifts for walkout ramblers south of County Road 50 run $4,500 to $7,500 and include the cold-pack battery and drainage channels standard. Every written quote includes installation, rail, seat, cold-pack battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Lakeville than Minneapolis or St. Paul?

Equipment prices are the same across Minnesota — we don’t adjust quotes based on zip code. What’s consistent statewide is the cold-weather spec: every Lakeville install ships with the -30°F cold-pack battery standard, whether the lift is indoor or outdoor. We tell you the line items upfront. No surprise premiums.

My house was built in 2003 — is a stairlift still worth it?

Absolutely. Post-2000 construction is actually the easiest to install on. The treads are level, the stair width is standard 36 inches, and the framing is consistent. Most two-story colonials in Lakeville install in three to four hours with zero surprises. The question isn’t whether the house is right for a stairlift — it’s whether you’d rather spend $3,000 on a lift or $150,000 on a move to a single-story.

Any hidden fees for HOA or townhome installs?

Our quote includes the HOA accommodation paperwork we prepare for you. Under Minnesota Statutes Chapter 515B and the federal Fair Housing Act, associations are required to make reasonable accommodation for disabled residents. We prepare the full documentation packet — medical-necessity letter template, equipment specs, installation drawing, insurance certificate — at no charge. Most Lakeville HOA boards approve within 5 to 10 business days.

A word from Luis

Most Lakeville families call me when a parent’s relationship with the stairs changes — a father who pauses halfway up the two-story in Spirit of Brandtjen Farm to catch his breath, a grandmother who hasn’t seen the upstairs bedrooms in weeks after a knee replacement at Fairview Ridges, a daughter in Apple Valley worried about her mother alone in a house built with stairs in every direction.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that’s honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. Cold-pack batteries rated to -30°F standard on every install.
