Stairlift Service Across Dakota County

Dakota County, MN

From River Hills — set along the Minnesota River valley with larger lots, mature trees, and homes ranging from mid-century ramblers to updated two-stories where the terrain creates raised entries and steep driveways — to Southcross Heights, the walkable neighborhood where 1970s split-levels line every block, our team has mapped every staircase layout in the city. We know which Birnamwood townhomes have the wide stairs that install in three hours flat, which Nicollet ramblers have the narrow stairwell that only fits a slim-profile rail, and which Burnsville Heights and Crystal Lake homes near Buck Hill have raised front entries where outdoor lifts earn their keep through Minnesota's six-month winter.

1968 River Hills rambler — straight rail on original oak treads overlooking the Minnesota River

River Hills, MN Installed March 2026

A 1968 rambler in the River Hills neighborhood with 14 original dark oak treads to the upper bedrooms. Mrs. Lindgren had been sleeping on the main-floor sofa for two weeks after a knee replacement at Fairview Ridges because the stairs were off-limits. We bolted the straight rail directly into the oak treads using pilot holes to prevent splitting, the beige seat parked at the bottom landing with the footrest folded up. The rail runs the right side of the staircase, leaving the left handrail free. Cold-pack battery rated to -30°F tested through a full charge-discharge cycle before we left. She slept in her own bedroom that night.

1974 Southcross Heights split-level — curved rail through a 90° landing turn

Southcross Heights, MN Installed February 2026

A 1974 split-level in Southcross Heights — the most common staircase layout we measure in Burnsville. The staircase curves around a half-wall at the upper floor landing, with a 90-degree turn from the lower run to the upper hallway. Mr. Johansson retired from Honeywell and has lived here since 1979. Two companies said he needed two separate lifts. We laser-scanned the full run, fabricated a single curved rail that bends around the balustrade, and parked the brown-upholstered seat at the upper landing. He swivels off onto hallway carpet. One ride, zero transfers. The framed art on the wall stays untouched.

1971 Nicollet rambler — slim-profile rail in a tight stairwell with original furnishings

Nicollet, MN Installed January 2026

A 1971 rambler in the Nicollet neighborhood with a staircase only 30 inches wide between the banister and the wall, a wooden sideboard at the base landing, and a grandmother who moved in from Laos in 2014 and speaks only Hmong. We specified the slim-profile model — folded seat and rail together take up 11 inches, leaving 19 inches of clear passage. The brown-upholstered seat rides past the wooden sideboard and potted plant at the base without contact. The stone-tile treads and compact cottage feel of the home stay intact. Luis coordinated with a Dakota County interpreter for the walkthrough, and the controls are labeled with pictograms.

Burnsville Heights raised entry — outdoor lift on stone paving steps near Buck Hill

Burnsville Heights, MN Installed December 2025

A 1976 home in Burnsville Heights with a raised front entry and seven stone-paved steps from the driveway to the front door. Mr. Swenson is a Vietnam-era veteran enrolled at the Minneapolis VA. We prefilled VA Form 10-0103 and the HISA grant covered $6,800 of the cost. The cream weather-resistant seat rides along the outdoor rail, anchored into the rough stone paving at the base. A carpeted outdoor tread at the bottom step provides grip. Every component is sealed to -30°F with drainage channels so snowmelt from the roof doesn't pool on the stone and refreeze. He rode it through the full January polar vortex without a service call.

Birnamwood townhome — straight rail on carpeted stairs, Tuesday measure, Thursday install

Birnamwood, MN Installed November 2025

A townhome in the Birnamwood development with wide carpeted stairs and generous floor plans. The rail bolts through the carpet into the wooden treads beneath — no carpet removal, no damage to the pile. The brown upholstery matches the carpet tones, and the seat folds flat against the wall at the landing so the stairwell stays passable. Wall-mounted light switches remain accessible. Mrs. Olson's son called on a Tuesday, we measured that afternoon, and the crew installed Thursday morning. Cold-pack battery rated to -30°F standard. She called Monday to say it was the best money she spent all year.

Platform Lift

Crystal Lake area home — indoor wheelchair platform lift for a disabled veteran

Crystal Lake, MN Installed October 2025

A two-story home near Crystal Lake on the south side of Burnsville. Mr. Xiong is a disabled veteran who uses a power wheelchair full-time — a seated stairlift was not an option. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift along the indoor stairway — a flat black anti-slip deck with yellow high-visibility safety edges on the platform and gate thresholds, white handrail along the wall. The orange-toned walls frame the unit against the window at mid-stair. The VA HISA grant covered the full $6,800 service-connected maximum, and the Minnesota Elderly Waiver covered the remaining balance through Dakota County. He rolls on, presses one button, and exits at the upper floor without leaving his chair. Keyed lockout keeps the grandchildren from activating it unsupervised.

Common Questions

Everything Burnsville Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Burnsville right now?

Straight rails in standard Burnsville homes — the 1970s ramblers in Nicollet, the split-levels in Southcross Heights, the two-stories near Crystal Lake — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you'll need for most split-levels in River Hills and Burnsville Heights with a landing turn, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor lifts for raised front entries run $4,500 to $8,000 with cold-pack batteries and drainage channels standard. Every written quote includes installation, rail, seat, cold-pack battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Burnsville than in Bloomington or Eagan?

Equipment prices are the same across the south metro — we don't inflate quotes based on city or zip code. What varies slightly is cold-weather spec: every Burnsville install ships with the -30°F cold-pack battery as standard, which adds a modest hardware cost but keeps the lift running through polar vortex outages. We show you the line items upfront.

Does the Minnesota Elderly Waiver cover stairlifts for Burnsville residents?

Yes — through the Elderly Waiver under Minnesota's Medical Assistance program, administered in Burnsville through Dakota County. Stairlifts fall under the Environmental Accessibility Adaptations (EAA) benefit, with a cap of $20,000 per waiver year that covers most curved rail installs outright. Start by calling the Senior LinkAge Line at 1-800-333-2433, get routed to Dakota County, complete a MnCHOICES assessment (typically 14 to 45 days), and name us as your EAA vendor. We handle the Community Support Plan paperwork at no charge.

Do Burnsville's townhome or condo HOAs add to the cost?

Our quote includes the HOA paperwork we handle for you. We've worked with associations across Birnamwood, the Heart of the City condos, and several Burnsville 55+ communities — the reasonable-accommodation letters are already templated. Under Minnesota Statutes Chapter 515B and the federal Fair Housing Act, boards are required to approve accessibility modifications for disabled residents. If a board requires its own structural engineer letter, we tell you before we start.

A word from Luis

Most Burnsville families call me after a near-miss on winter stairs — a slip on the carpeted run in a 1970s River Hills split-level, a father who hasn't been upstairs since his knee replacement at Fairview Ridges, a daughter in Chicago worried about her mother in a Southcross Heights rambler she's lived in for 40 years and isn't leaving.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
