Straight Stairlift

Bestseller

The most common install in Apple Valley — built for ramblers, two-stories, and raised entries across Palomino Hills, Greenleaf, and Cobblestone Lake. Most stairlifts we install in Apple Valley are straight rails. The track bolts to your stair treads — never into the wall — the seat and footrest fold up out of the way, and the cold-pack battery backup keeps you moving through Dakota County power outages and polar vortex stretches. Every south metro install ships with batteries rated to -30°F as a baseline spec. Most Greenleaf and Cobblestone Lake installs finish in under four hours.

Starting at $3,200 installed

What's Included

  • Battery backup for power outages
  • Swivel seat with safety lock
  • Two wireless remote controls

Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Dakota County

Dakota County, MN

From Palomino Hills — Apple Valley's oldest neighborhood, built in the early 1970s with two-story colonials and raised ramblers — to Cobblestone Lake, where wider staircases make straight-rail installs the most common job, our team has mapped this city's staircase layouts. We know which Greenleaf ramblers have the narrow 28-inch stairwell requiring a slim-profile rail, which Diamond Path homes have raised front entries needing outdoor lifts through eight months of Minnesota winter, and which Wildwood split-levels have original carpet over hardwood that bolts cleanly without pulling a seam. We also cover Burnsville, Eagan, Lakeville, and Rosemount at the same pricing — no mileage surcharge anywhere in the south metro.

Greenleaf rambler — straight rail on original dark hardwood treads

Greenleaf, MN Installed February 2026

A 1979 rambler in Greenleaf with 13 dark hardwood stairs — the warm oak treads original to the home. Mrs. Bergstrom's daughter called from Milwaukee after her mother stopped going upstairs following a stroke. We bolted the straight rail directly into the oak treads, the beige seat parked at the bottom landing with the footrest folded up. The rail runs the right side of the staircase, leaving the left handrail free. Cold-pack battery rated to -30°F tested and confirmed before we left.

Palomino Hills split-level — curved rail bending 90° at the upper landing

Palomino Hills, MN Installed March 2026

A 1973 split-level in Palomino Hills with a 90-degree turn at the upper landing where the staircase meets the hallway. Mr. Svensson, 79, had avoided the upper floor for four months after knee surgery at Fairview Ridges. We laser-scanned the full run, fabricated a single curved rail that bends around the half-wall at the top, and parked the brown-upholstered seat at the upper landing. He swivels off onto the hallway carpet — no balancing on the top tread. The chandelier above the landing stays untouched.

Diamond Path cottage — compact rail alongside hallway sideboard

Diamond Path, MN Installed December 2025

A compact Diamond Path home with stone-tile treads and a wooden sideboard built into the wall alongside the stairs — furniture the family refused to move. We measured clearance on the first visit, specified the narrow-profile rail on the opposite side, and mounted the brown-upholstered seat so it rides past the sideboard with inches to spare. The cottage feel of the home stays intact. Mrs. Peterson uses it eight times a day.

Wildwood raised entry — outdoor lift on stone-paved porch steps

Wildwood, MN Installed November 2025

A raised front entry in Wildwood with five stone-paved steps from the driveway to the front door — manageable in summer, treacherous from November through March. Mr. Andersen's COPD made those porch steps dangerous after his discharge from Fairview. We installed the cream weather-resistant seat on the outdoor rail with drainage channels so snowmelt from the roof overhang doesn't pool on the stone paving and refreeze. Every bracket is sealed and cold-rated to -30°F. The lift ran through the full polar vortex without a service call.

Cobblestone Lake two-story — straight rail on carpeted stairs

Cobblestone Lake, MN Installed January 2026

A newer Cobblestone Lake two-story with 14 carpeted stairs and a landing at the midpoint. Mr. Chen's 82-year-old mother was visiting from Minneapolis and needed the upstairs guest room. We bolted the straight rail through the carpet into the solid wood treads beneath — no carpet removal, no visible seam pulling. The brown upholstery matches the carpet tones, and the seat folds flat at the landing when not in use. The grandchildren run up and down around it without a second thought.

Platform Lift

Apple Valley East — indoor wheelchair platform lift with safety edges

Apple Valley East, MN Installed October 2025

The Xiong family's son uses a power wheelchair and needed access from the main floor to the upper bedrooms in their 1986 Apple Valley East home. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift along the indoor stairway — a flat black anti-slip deck with yellow high-visibility safety edges, white handrail, and a fold-up platform when not in use. No transfers required: he rolls on, rides up, and rolls off at the top. The terracotta-toned walls frame the unit cleanly against the window at the mid-landing.

Common Questions

Everything Apple Valley Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Apple Valley right now?

Straight rails in standard Apple Valley homes — the ramblers in Palomino Hills, the two-stories near Cobblestone Lake, the raised entries in Wildwood — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, required for the 1970s and 1980s split-levels in Greenleaf and Diamond Path with a mid-landing turn, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is custom-fabricated to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor lifts for raised front entries run $4,500 to $8,000 with cold-pack batteries and drainage channels included. Every written quote covers installation, rail, seat, cold-pack battery backup, and the first service visit.

Why does a curved rail cost so much more than a straight rail?

A straight rail is a standard product — we cut it to length and bolt it in. A curved rail is manufactured to your specific staircase geometry after a laser scan: every bend, every turn radius, every degree of pitch is built into the steel on the factory floor before it ships. That's 10 to 14 days of fabrication time and bespoke materials. For the split-levels in Greenleaf and Diamond Path, it's the only rail that works as a single continuous ride — no transferring mid-stair.

Are prices higher in Apple Valley than in Eagan or Burnsville?

Equipment pricing is the same across the south metro — we don't add zip code premiums. The only Apple Valley-specific item is the cold-pack battery, which we include on every install statewide. We show you every line item in the written quote before you decide.

Do Apple Valley HOA or townhome associations add to the cost?

Our quote includes any HOA paperwork assistance. Under Minnesota Statutes Chapter 515B and the federal Fair Housing Act, condo and townhome associations must grant reasonable accommodations for accessibility modifications. We prepare the accommodation packet — medical-necessity letter, installer credentials, equipment specs — at no charge. If a board requires a structural engineer's letter, we tell you before we start.

A word from Luis

Most Apple Valley calls I take start the same way — someone's parent has been sleeping on the main floor for three weeks after a hip replacement at Fairview Ridges, or a daughter calling from out of state who needs this handled fast because she can't fly out again. The split-levels and ramblers here were built for young families in the 1970s and 1980s. They were never designed for a 78-year-old with a bad knee.

My job is simple: get to your door within 24 hours, measure every tread with a laser, and hand you a written quote honored for 30 days. No upsells. No surprises. Cold-pack batteries on every install — because Minnesota winters don't forgive standard equipment.
