Pelican Pointe — The Commons, The Village, The Pointe — is modern waterfront homes bordering the Coast Guard station. Hugh Cale and Downtown Elizabeth City round out the central neighborhoods. We also serve Camden across the river and Hertford, Edenton, and Moyock within 30 minutes.

Northside Historic District, NC Installed March 2026

Queen Anne Victorian with original oak treads and a 14-foot straight run to the second floor. Beige seat parked at the bottom landing. Common Questions

Everything Elizabeth City Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a straight stairlift cost in Elizabeth City, NC?

Straight rails start at $2,800 installed for a Pelican Pointe townhome or Hugh Cale modern cottage with a 13–14 foot run. Curved rails for a Riverside two-story or a Northside Historic Victorian with a landing turn start at $9,000 because the track is site-measured and factory-bent to your exact staircase.

Are Elizabeth City installs the same price as Chesapeake or Hampton?

We don't charge travel fees in Pasquotank County. Elizabeth City, Camden, Hertford, Edenton, and Moyock all get the same pricing. Across the state line into Chesapeake VA or down to Hampton there's no upcharge either — same rail, same labor rate.

Can I finance a stairlift in Elizabeth City?

Yes. Financing starts at $79/month through our partner lender with a soft credit check and no prepayment penalty. Most Elizabeth City families finance curved and outdoor units; straight rails at $2,800 are often paid outright from savings or VA HISA.

Do waterfront homes in Pelican Pointe cost more to install?

Only the outdoor units. An indoor straight rail in a Pelican Pointe townhome costs the same $2,800 as anywhere else in Pasquotank County. For any outdoor rail — dock access, riverfront deck — we quote the marine-grade IP55 from $4,000 because it's the only unit that survives Albemarle Sound salt air past year two.

A word from Luis

Elizabeth City housing breaks into three clear buckets and each one gets a different rail. The Northside and Shepard Street-South Road historic districts have 1880s-1920s Victorians, Queen Annes, and Colonial Revivals — original narrow treads, hand-milled banisters, plaster walls. Those need tread-nose brackets and a careful measure; I won't drill a riser on a 130-year-old tread. Riverside along the Pasquotank is mostly 1930s-1950s two-stories with mid-flight landings — curved-rail territory. Then Pelican Pointe is modern townhomes and single-family homes bordering the Coast Guard station, standard 36-inch stairs, easy straight runs.

The other thing I plan for here is weather. Elizabeth City takes hurricanes from the Atlantic, nor'easters off the Albemarle Sound, and salt air any time the wind comes from the east off the Pasquotank River. For outdoor lifts — and the waterfront homes in Pelican Pointe and Riverside all want them — I specify marine-grade IP55 with stainless fasteners and a sealed rail. The river name is Pasquotank, not James; people confuse the two because the James River is a few hours north in Virginia.

— Luis Ramírez, Elizabeth City
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Elizabeth City homes weren't built for aging in place — the Northside Victorians have narrow treads, the Riverside two-stories have mid-flight landings, and salt air off the Pasquotank and Albemarle Sound eats anything that isn't marine-grade. The right rail respects the housing stock and the weather.

Call for a free in-home measure. Most straight Elizabeth City installs are done the same week we quote, and every outdoor unit we sell here — whether it's for a Pelican Pointe porch or a Riverside deck — is marine-grade from day one.
