Stairlift Service Across Hillsborough County

Hillsborough County, NH

From the executive colonials in Pulpit Estates with their two-story foyers and wide oak staircases to the cape and ranch homes along Bedford Center Road where original 1960s stairs are steep and narrow, our team has measured every part of Bedford. We know which Oak Hill homes have the formal center-hall staircase needing a straight rail with swivel exit, which Meetinghouse Commons properties have the split-level double-landing configuration requiring a single curved rail, which Route 101 corridor raised ranches need outdoor-rated rails for exposed granite entry steps, and which Historic District colonials near the Old Town Hall have the narrow 33-inch back stair passage. We also cover Manchester, Merrimack, Amherst, Goffstown, New Boston, and Litchfield.

Straight

Oak Hill colonial — straight rail on original hardwood treads alongside white spindle balustrade

Oak Hill, NH Installed March 2026

A 1962 cape-style colonial on Oak Hill with a formal staircase to the second floor, original oak treads, and a white-painted spindle balustrade. Mrs. Nevins is 86 and has lived here since 1981. Her daughter in Manchester had been driving over every morning to help her mother down the stairs to the kitchen. Mrs. Nevins’s one condition: no marks on the spindles or the wallpaper. We bolted the rail into the tread wood only — never a spindle, never the wall. The rail finish matches the oak, the seat folds flat against the wall at the upper landing, and the staircase looks exactly as it has for sixty years.

Pulpit Estates executive colonial — curved rail around switchback turn in two-story foyer

Pulpit Estates, NH Installed February 2026

A 1995 executive colonial in Pulpit Estates with a two-story foyer and a 16-step staircase that turns 180 degrees at an intermediate landing. Mr. Graham, 88, built the house himself and refused to leave it. Two other companies quoted two separate lifts. We laser-scanned the full staircase, fabricated a single curved rail that carries him from the foyer to the upstairs hallway in one continuous ride, and installed a powered swivel-exit seat at the upper landing. One motor, one seat, one remote.

Bedford Center Road cape — compact straight rail on four-step garage-to-kitchen rise

Bedford Center Road, NH Installed January 2026

A 1968 cape on Bedford Center Road with a four-step rise between the attached garage and the main kitchen level. Mrs. Connors is 83 and had her hip replaced at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester. Her surgeon cleared her for daily activity but prohibited unassisted stairs for six weeks. We bolted a compact straight rail into the wood treads, ran the power cord to the existing garage outlet, and left the adjacent wall shelving untouched. The compact seat folds flat when not in use, keeping the narrow passage clear.

Route 101 corridor — weather-sealed outdoor lift on granite entry steps

Route 101 corridor, NH Installed December 2025

A 1974 raised ranch along the Route 101 corridor with six exterior granite steps and no covered entry. Mrs. Anderson, 82, uses a rolling walker and had not left the house without her son’s help since a fall on the icy front steps the previous February. We drilled stainless-steel masonry anchors into the granite treads, sealed the motor housing to IP55 against New Hampshire rain, ice, and road salt, and applied the cold-weather rail coating standard on every northern New England outdoor install. The lift ran through the winter of 2025–2026 — sub-zero nights, nor’easters, salt trucks on Route 101 — without a single service call.

Historic District colonial — slim-profile straight rail in narrow 33-inch back staircase

Historic District, NH Installed November 2025

A colonial near the Old Town Hall in Bedford’s Historic District with a narrow 33-inch back staircase connecting the kitchen to the upstairs bedrooms. The formal front staircase is wider but Mrs. Wheeler, 91, uses the back stairs exclusively because they are closer to the kitchen and bathroom. We specified a slim-profile rail that clears 11 inches from the wall when the seat is folded, leaving 22 inches of passable width. The rail bolts into the pine treads only, preserving the historic character of the home.

Platform Lift

Meetinghouse Commons split-level — indoor wheelchair platform lift with yellow safety edges

Meetinghouse Commons, NH Installed October 2025

A 1978 split-level near Meetinghouse Commons where Mr. Foster, 75, uses a power wheelchair after a stroke left him with limited mobility on his right side. The five-step rise between the sunken family room and the kitchen was the barrier — he could not transfer out of his chair for a seated stairlift. We installed an indoor inclined wheelchair platform lift adjacent to the step-up, against the existing wall. The flat black anti-slip platform has high-visibility yellow safety edges on all sides, a white handrail, and an automatic gate that locks during travel. Mr. Foster rolls on in the family room, presses one button, and rolls off at kitchen level.

Common Questions

Everything Bedford Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Bedford, NH right now?

Straight rails in standard Bedford homes — the colonials along Bedford Center Road, the capes on Oak Hill, the split-levels near Meetinghouse Commons — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for executive-home switchback turns in Pulpit Estates and split-level double landings run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is fabricated to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor lifts with cold-weather coating for New Hampshire winters run $4,200 to $7,800. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Bedford than in Manchester or Merrimack?

Equipment prices are identical across southern New Hampshire. We do not inflate quotes for Pulpit Estates or discount them for ranches near the Goffstown line. What can vary slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: compensating rail brackets in older colonials where settling has left treads uneven, running a dedicated outlet to a stairwell that shares a circuit, or anchoring an outdoor rail into granite entry steps that need masonry-specific fasteners. We itemize everything upfront.

Is a stairlift cheaper than downsizing in Bedford?

Significantly. Bedford is one of the most expensive housing markets in New Hampshire, with a median home price well above $600,000. Between realtor commissions, closing costs, moving expenses, and the emotional cost of leaving a home your family has lived in for decades, downsizing runs $45,000 to $80,000 minimum. A straight stairlift installed and warrantied costs under $5,500. A curved rail for the most complex staircase in Bedford costs under $15,000. The math is not close.

Do you charge more for the larger executive homes in Pulpit Estates?

No. Equipment pricing is based on staircase length and configuration, not home value. A 14-foot straight rail in a Pulpit Estates colonial costs the same as a 14-foot straight rail in a cape on Bedford Center Road. Larger homes sometimes have longer or more complex staircases, which affects the quote, but the per-foot pricing is identical. We never charge a premium based on neighborhood or assessed value.

A word from Luis

Bedford families call me after the same thing — a retired executive whose knees can no longer manage the two-story colonial he built in the 1990s, or an 84-year-old widow on Bedford Center Road whose children in Manchester worry about her alone in the house she’s owned since 1978, or a daughter in Merrimack who found her father gripping both handrails on the split-level stairs he used to take two at a time. I drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a written price that’s honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. If you’re a veteran, I prefill your HISA paperwork before I leave the driveway.
