Straight Stairlift

Bestseller

The standard for Nashua’s Victorians, colonials, and two-story additions. Over 65% of the stairlifts we install in Nashua are straight rails. The rail bolts into your stair treads (never the wall), the seat and footrest fold flat, and the battery backup keeps you moving when a nor’easter kills the power. Nashua installs ship with cold-weather lubricant rated to -10°F and a humidity-sealed motor housing for the spring thaw season. Most installs wrap in under four hours.

Starting at $3,200 installed

What's Included

  • Battery backup for power outages
  • Swivel seat with safety lock
  • Two wireless remote controls

Stairlift Service Across Hillsborough County

Hillsborough County, NH

From the ornate Victorian stairwells of the Tree Streets to the wide-tread colonials on Crown Hill, from the converted ranches in the Indian Head neighborhood to the new construction along South Nashua’s commercial corridor, our team has mapped every block in this city. We know which Main Street-area mill conversions have the original industrial staircases with metal treads, which North End duplexes have the steeper-than-code rise that requires the adjustable-angle rail mount, and which Crown Hill homes have the 90-degree landing turn that makes a straight rail impossible. Because Nashua borders Hudson, Hollis, Merrimack, and Litchfield, we staff dedicated coverage for those towns — plus Manchester 15 minutes north — so you never wait on a tech driving from Boston.

Dark oak stairs in a Tree Streets Victorian — beige seat preserving the original banister

Tree Streets, NH Installed March 2026

An 1898 Victorian on Ash Street with dark oak stair treads, original heart-pine risers, and a hand-carved banister the Sullivans were not willing to alter. We brought color swatches, matched the beige seat to the warm wood tones, and bolted the rail into the oak treads using backing plates to distribute the load on the century-old wood. The rail blends into the dark hardwood when the seat is parked at the landing. Mrs. Sullivan’s visiting nurse said she didn’t notice it until the second appointment.

90° curved rail in a Crown Hill colonial — brown seat at the upper landing

Crown Hill, NH Installed February 2026

A 1952 Crown Hill colonial with an L-shaped staircase, a 90-degree turn at the upper landing, and a chandelier that hung directly in the path of any standard rail. We digitally scanned the geometry, custom-fabricated a curved rail that threads past the chandelier with clearance to spare, and mounted the brown upholstered seat so it parks flush at the upper landing. Mrs. Fontaine swivels and steps onto the hallway hardwood, not the top tread. The chandelier — original to the house — stayed exactly where it’s hung since 1952.

Stone-tread stairs in an Indian Head cottage — compact rail beside the sideboard

Indian Head, NH Installed January 2026

A renovated 1940s Indian Head cottage with stone tile treads and a wooden sideboard at the base of the stairs that belonged to Mrs. Levesque’s mother. We mounted the brown-upholstered seat on the compact-profile rail, positioned the lower park point so the folded chair clears the sideboard by two inches, and drilled into the stone using masonry anchors rated for the full weight capacity. The cottage character is unchanged. Her son said it looks like it was built with the house.

Outdoor

Outdoor rail on stone paving at a Main Street raised entry

Main Street, NH Installed December 2025

The Bouchards’ Main Street home has a raised front entry with stone paving and five exterior steps that turn into an ice ramp every November. We installed the cream-colored outdoor seat on a hot-dip galvanized rail anchored into the stone, added a weather hood over the joystick, and fitted the cold-weather battery rated to -10°F. Mr. Bouchard — 82 and a Korean War-era veteran — rode it through the entire 2025-2026 winter without a single day it wouldn’t start. The VA HISA grant covered most of the cost.

Carpeted stairs in a South Nashua two-story — swivel seat at the landing

South Nashua, NH Installed November 2025

A 1998 South Nashua two-story with 14 carpeted treads and a residential landing that opens to the upstairs hallway. Mrs. O’Brien’s husband had fallen at the top of the stairs the previous winter — socks on carpet, middle of the night. We installed the brown-upholstered seat with the swivel-exit feature so the chair rotates 90 degrees at the upper landing. She stands on the hallway carpet instead of the top step. The rail runs along the carpeted treads without bunching or pulling the pile.

Platform Lift

Indoor platform lift with yellow safety edges for a North End veteran

North End, NH Installed October 2025

Mr. Pellerin served 20 years in the Army and uses a power wheelchair after a service-connected injury. His North End duplex has an indoor stairway between the first-floor living area and the second-floor bedrooms. We installed an inclined platform lift with a flat deck and yellow high-visibility safety edges on all sides. The platform folds against the wall when not in use so his wife and visiting family still walk the stairs. The Manchester VA processed his HISA grant in five weeks. He hasn’t slept on the first floor since install day.

Common Questions

Everything Nashua Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Nashua right now?

Straight rails in standard Nashua homes run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails — needed for Crown Hill L-shaped staircases and Tree Streets Victorian switchbacks — run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact geometry. Outdoor models with cold-weather batteries and freeze-proof hardware run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Nashua than Manchester or the Boston suburbs?

Equipment prices are the same across southern New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts — we don’t inflate quotes based on town. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: backing-plate reinforcement on pre-1900 treads, masonry anchoring into stone, or historic-district review paperwork. Every line item is broken out upfront.

Do you charge extra for cold-weather upgrades on outdoor installs?

No. Every outdoor install in Nashua ships with hot-dip galvanized bracket hardware, sealed neoprene isolation washers, stainless-steel fasteners, and a cold-weather battery rated to -10°F. These are the New Hampshire defaults — not add-ons. A factory-default outdoor stairlift installed in Nashua without these specs will fail within two winters.

What about the really old homes — do the narrow stairs cost more?

The compact-profile rail fits staircases as narrow as 26 inches — which covers virtually every Victorian and mill-worker house in Nashua. Narrow stairs don’t add to the equipment cost. Occasionally the century-old treads need a backing plate to distribute the bolt load, which adds $50-$100 in hardware. We tell you at the assessment, not on install day.

A word from Luis

Most Nashua families call after a specific scare — a slip on an icy front step, a parent who stopped going upstairs after Thanksgiving and hasn’t been in their own bedroom since, a fall in one of those narrow Victorian stairwells on the Tree Streets. My job is simple: get to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and hand you a written quote honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells.

The Manchester VA is 15 minutes away and I’ve walked dozens of southern NH veterans through the HISA paperwork. If your parent is putting off this call, I understand — most of the 380 families I’ve helped in Nashua waited longer than they wish they had. One visit, one quote, and you’ll know exactly what it costs and how long it takes.
