Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Hidalgo County

Hidalgo County, TX

From the established block homes along Tower Road — where 1970s three-bedroom single-stories with interior stairs to a converted attic or second floor sit on compact lots with chain-link fences and mature mesquite — to the newer two-story subdivisions south of Business 83 near the Pharr city line, our crew has measured stairs across every part of Alamo. The older homes along Alamo Road and near the railroad tracks have narrower stairways with original tile or concrete treads. The colonias along FM 907 west of town often have raised concrete-block entries with outdoor steps that need weather-sealed rails. Newer builds east of Tower Road toward Donna have builder-grade carpeted stairs and standard 36-inch widths.

1978 Tower Road block home — straight rail on hardwood treads

Tower Road, TX Installed March 2026

A 1978 concrete-block home on Tower Road with 13 hardwood treads leading from the ground floor to an upstairs bedroom converted from an attic in the 1990s. Mrs. Garza had been sleeping in the living room recliner for three weeks after knee replacement surgery at DHR Health because the narrow staircase was impossible post-op. We drove out the same day she called, confirmed the 14-foot straight run with a laser, and installed two days later. The cream-upholstered seat parks at the bottom landing. Mrs. Garza slept in her own bed that night.

Alamo Road two-story — curved rail through 90° landing turn

Alamo Road, TX Installed February 2026

A 1985 two-story near Alamo Road with five steps from the entry to the living area, a 90-degree landing, and eight more steps to the bedrooms. Mr. Salinas, a retired Army veteran, has lived here since 1992. We laser-scanned the full run, fabricated a single curved rail custom-bent for this turn, and parked the brown-upholstered seat at the upper landing. Curved rails start at $9,000. His VA provider at the McAllen VA Outpatient Clinic wrote the HISA prescription, and the grant covered $6,800. Luis ran the entire process in Spanish.

Central Alamo cottage — compact stairway, tile treads, brown seat at base

Central Alamo, TX Installed January 2026

A 1960s cottage near the railroad tracks in central Alamo with a compact staircase only 33 inches wide between the banister and the wall. The brown-upholstered seat sits at the bottom of the stairs next to the family's wooden sideboard and a potted plant Mrs. Peña keeps by the landing. The tile treads gave the slim-profile rail solid anchoring — folded, the seat and rail together take up just 11 inches, leaving 22 inches of clear passage for the grandchildren who visit every Sunday from Pharr. Luis walked the family through every button in Spanish.

FM 907 colonia — outdoor lift on raised concrete-block entry steps

FM 907, TX Installed December 2025

A single-story along FM 907 west of Alamo with a raised concrete-block front entry and five flagstone steps from the ground to the covered porch. Mr. Hinojosa, a retired veteran with a service-connected back injury, fell on the rain-slick steps twice in one season. The cream-colored weather-resistant seat mounts on a galvanized rail anchored into the concrete with stainless expansion bolts. The IP55-sealed motor handles South Texas humidity, and the UV-coated components withstand the Valley sun. Outdoor lifts start at $4,000. The McAllen VA HISA grant covered $6,800.

South Business 83 two-story — straight rail on carpeted stairs, same-week install

South Business 83, TX Installed November 2025

A 2006 two-story in a newer subdivision south of Business 83 with carpeted stairs and a standard 36-inch-wide staircase. The brown-upholstered seat matches the warm-tan carpet on the landing, blending into the stairway rather than standing out. Mr. Villarreal's father-in-law moved in after a stroke and needed access to the upstairs guest bedroom. The daughter called Monday, we measured Monday afternoon, and the install crew was at the house Wednesday morning. The rail bolts through the carpet into the wood treads beneath — no carpet removal, no damage to the pile. Tile floor at the base.

Platform Lift

East Tenth Street home — inclined wheelchair platform lift, yellow safety edges

East Tenth Street, TX Installed October 2025

A two-story concrete-block home on East Tenth Street near central Alamo. Mr. Torres, a disabled veteran, uses a power wheelchair full-time after a service-connected spinal injury. A seated stairlift was not an option — he needed to roll on, ride up, roll off. We installed an indoor inclined platform lift along the interior stairway: a flat black anti-slip deck with yellow high-visibility safety edges on all thresholds, a white handrail on one side, and a keyed lockout so the grandchildren cannot activate it. Loads up to 600 lb. The VA HISA grant covered the full $6,800 service-connected maximum, and STAR+PLUS through Molina covered the remaining balance.

Common Questions

Everything Alamo Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Alamo, TX right now?

Straight rails in standard Alamo homes — the block homes along Tower Road, the newer two-stories south of Business 83, the older homes near Alamo Road — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for homes with landing turns run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised concrete-block entries and porch steps run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit. Cotizaciones disponibles en español.

Are Alamo prices different from McAllen or Pharr?

Equipment prices are the same across the entire Rio Grande Valley — we do not adjust pricing by city. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: narrow treads in older Alamo Road homes, the extra-thick concrete-block steps along FM 907 that need masonry anchors instead of wood bolts, and the heat-rated lubricant we spec as standard on every RGV install — baseline, not an upcharge. We list every line item upfront on the written quote.

Is a stairlift cheaper than moving to a single-story home?

Moving costs in Hidalgo County — real estate commission, closing costs, packing, new deposit — typically run $8,000 to $18,000 minimum even in Alamo's more affordable market. A straight stairlift installs in under four hours for $2,800 to $5,500 and lets you stay in the home you have lived in for decades, near the neighbors and family you see every day, close to DHR Health and the doctors who already know you. For most Alamo families, the stairlift costs less than the real estate commission alone.

Is the entire process available in Spanish?

Yes — from the first phone call to the final walkthrough. Luis conducts the majority of his Alamo assessments in Spanish. Every printed quote, consent form, operating manual, and warranty document is available in Spanish. The STAR+PLUS Medicaid paperwork, VA forms, and financing applications can all be completed in Spanish. Zero surcharge, zero delay. This is not a translation service — it is how we operate in the Valley.

A word from Luis

Alamo families call because someone they love is struggling on the stairs and leaving the Rio Grande Valley is not an option. A mother in the Tower Road neighborhood who has not been upstairs since her knee surgery at DHR Health. A father near Alamo Road whose daughter in Houston calls every night to make sure he did not fall. A retired veteran along Business 83 who built his house 30 years ago and is not selling it because of five steps.

I drive out the same day you call, measure your staircase, and hand you a written quote that holds for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere — la mayoría de mis visitas en Alamo son en español.
