Straight Stairlift

The standard for West Valley City's 1960s–1970s Granger ranches and 2000s Hunter colonials.

Over 70% of the stairlifts we install in West Valley City are straight rails. The brick ranches that line 3500 South through Granger and Chesterfield almost always have a single straight run to the upper bedrooms or the finished basement. The rail bolts into your stair treads — never the wall, never the banister — and every Utah install ships with an altitude-rated motor controller calibrated for 4,000–7,500 feet, a temperature-swing gasket kit, and dry-air lubricant. Most West Valley City installs wrap in under four hours.

Stairlift Service Across Salt Lake County

Salt Lake County, UT

From the 1960s–1970s brick ranches of Granger and East Granger — where the staircase is almost always a straight run to the basement or a rise to the upper bedrooms — to the 1990s–2000s planned developments in Hunter and Woodhaven, where taller ceilings and wider stair treads mean faster installs, our team has mapped every neighborhood in West Valley City. We know which Chesterfield split-levels near the TRAX Green Line have the landing turns that only a curved rail can handle, which Redwood homes carry original aluminum wiring that requires a DOPL-licensed electrician before install, and which Woodhaven homes in the western foothills face the Oquirrh Mountain afternoon sun that demands UV-stabilized seat upholstery.

We also cover the full Salt Lake County ring — Kearns, Taylorsville, West Jordan, South Salt Lake, Murray, and Salt Lake City proper — so you never wait on a tech driving up from Provo.

1968 Granger ranch — straight rail on original oak treads to the upper bedrooms

Granger, UT Installed March 2026

A 1968 brick ranch in the Granger neighborhood with original red oak treads and a walnut banister the homeowner had maintained for 58 years. Mr. Sorensen had a hip replacement at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray and his daughter called us the week before surgery so the lift would be waiting when he came home. We bolted the rail directly into the oak treads — never touching the banister, never drilling into the wall — and configured the motor controller for 4,400-foot altitude rather than the factory sea-level default. The temperature-swing gasket kit and dry-air lubricant are standard on every Utah install. Mr. Sorensen rode upstairs to his own bedroom the afternoon he came home from the hospital.

Chesterfield split-level — curved rail through a 90° landing near the TRAX line

Chesterfield, UT Installed February 2026

A 1972 split-level in Chesterfield, three blocks from the TRAX Green Line station, with the classic West Valley City layout: five steps up from the entry to the living area, a 90° turn at the mid-landing, and seven more steps to the bedrooms. Mrs. Nguyen’s cardiologist at the George E. Wahlen VA Medical Center had told her to eliminate stair climbing entirely after a cardiac event. Two other companies quoted two separate straight rails with a transfer at the landing. We laser-scanned the full run, fabricated a single curved rail that carries her from the entry to the upper hallway in one continuous ride, and added a swivel-exit seat at the top. One ride, zero transfers. Her cardiologist signed off on the home safety modification the following week.

1965 East Granger bungalow — straight rail to the finished basement on stone treads

East Granger, UT Installed January 2026

A 1965 bungalow in the East Granger area with a stone-walled basement staircase and poured concrete treads — the kind of mid-century construction common in eastern West Valley City. Mrs. Wallace does her quilting in the basement craft room and was not about to give it up. The stone walls meant we couldn’t wall-mount anything, so the rail bolts into the concrete treads with masonry anchors rated for the load. We also identified original aluminum wiring on the basement circuit and brought in a DOPL-licensed electrician to pull a new dedicated 20-amp line before install. The dry-air lubricant spec keeps the mechanism running smooth through Utah’s bone-dry winters. Mrs. Wallace quilts downstairs three days a week and rides the lift like she’s done it her whole life.

Raised front entry in Hunter — weather-sealed outdoor lift on stone paving

Hunter, UT Installed December 2025

A 1998 two-story in the Hunter neighborhood with a raised front entry, six exterior steps with flagstone paving, and full western exposure to the Oquirrh Mountain afternoon sun. The Garcias’ son called from Provo because his mother had stopped leaving the house — the icy steps in December were the last straw. We installed a weather-sealed outdoor rail with an IP55-rated motor housing, UV-stabilized seat upholstery (standard for any Wasatch Front install with western exposure), and a temperature-swing gasket kit rated for Utah’s 50-degree daily winter cycling. The rail brackets bolt into the flagstone with stainless-steel masonry anchors. Luis walked the family through every control in Spanish at their request. Mrs. Garcia rode it to the mailbox the day after install. The lift has been through one full Utah winter — inversions, ice, sub-zero Wasatch nights — without a single issue.

Carpeted staircase in a Hunter colonial — installed around the existing runner

Hunter, UT Installed November 2025

A 2001 colonial in the Hunter neighborhood with wall-to-wall carpeted stairs and a runner the homeowner had just replaced four months earlier. Mrs. Christensen was clear: do not rip up the carpet. We mounted the rail brackets through the carpet into the plywood subtread below, leaving the runner completely intact on both sides of the track. The folding seat and footrest park flush against the wall at the bottom so the full stair width stays open for the grandchildren. Mr. Christensen, a retired Hill Air Force Base aircraft mechanic, tested the battery backup by unplugging the unit mid-ride. It switched over without a hitch. His wife has used it twice a day for five months without the carpet showing a single mark.

Platform Lift

Indoor wheelchair platform lift with yellow safety edges — VA-funded install in Redwood

Redwood, UT Installed October 2025

A 1970s ranch in the Redwood neighborhood where Mr. Kimball, a Gulf War veteran with a below-knee amputation, needed full wheelchair access between the main floor and the sunken family room — a four-step drop that a seated stairlift couldn’t solve. We installed an indoor vertical platform lift with yellow safety edges on the platform perimeter, interlocked upper and lower gates, and a battery backup rated for Utah’s temperature swings. The entire cost was covered by his VA HISA grant through the George E. Wahlen VA Medical Center in Salt Lake City — we prefilled VA Form 10-0103 and had approval in five weeks through the outpatient clinic on 5600 West. Mr. Kimball rolls onto the platform in his wheelchair, presses a single button, and rides to the family room without transferring. The yellow edge markings meet ADA visibility standards and the interlocked gates won’t open unless the platform is fully at level.

Common Questions

Everything West Valley City Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in West Valley City right now?

Straight rails in standard West Valley City homes — the 1960s–1970s Granger ranches, the Chesterfield brick homes, the 2000s Hunter colonials — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for split-level homes with mid-landing turns (common in Chesterfield and older Granger) run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models with UV-stabilized seats and altitude-rated motors run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, altitude-rated motor controller, temperature-swing gasket, and your first service visit.

Does the altitude-rated motor controller cost extra in Utah?

No. Every stairlift we install in Utah ships with an altitude-rated motor controller calibrated for 4,000–7,500 feet, a temperature-swing gasket kit, and dry-air lubricant as baseline specs. West Valley City sits at about 4,400 feet — the factory sea-level motor profile overheats at that altitude under sustained load. Our Utah configuration prevents that. Same price on the quote whether you're in Granger, Hunter, or Taylorsville.

Are prices different in West Valley City than Salt Lake City proper?

Equipment prices are the same across Salt Lake County. We don't inflate quotes based on zip code. What can add a modest line item is electrical work when older Granger or Redwood homes have original aluminum wiring that requires a DOPL-licensed electrician to pull a new circuit. We identify that at the first assessment and the electrical cost is on your written quote before you sign.

Do you charge travel fees inside Salt Lake County?

Zero travel fees anywhere in Salt Lake County — West Valley City, Kearns, Taylorsville, West Jordan, Murray, South Salt Lake, Salt Lake City, all of it. The price on the written quote is the price you pay.

A word from Luis

West Valley City calls follow a pattern I've learned from 18 years on the Wasatch Front. A daughter in Taylorsville phones because her father hasn't been upstairs in his Granger ranch since his hip replacement at Intermountain Medical Center. Or a retired Hill AFB mechanic in Hunter finally admits the six steps to the bedrooms aren't safe anymore and his wife found us through the VA Salt Lake City outpatient clinic on 5600 West.

I drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and hand you a written quote good for 30 days. No pressure. No upsell. If you want the walkthrough in Spanish, I do that too — en español si lo prefiere.
