Stairlift Service Across Salt Lake County

Salt Lake County, UT

From the Victorian streetscapes of the Avenues Historic District to the Craftsman bungalows of Sugar House, from the Tudor Revivals of Federal Heights near the University of Utah to the post-war ranches of Rose Park and Glendale, our team has mapped Salt Lake City block by block.

We know which Capitol Hill mansions need Historic Landmark Commission review, which East Bench hillside properties need outdoor runs before the front door, and which 9th & 9th bungalows have low-clearance archways where only our compact-profile rail fits. We cover Marmalade, Liberty Wells, Fairpark, and Central City. Salt Lake County DOPL rules mean we staff S350-licensed installers who never get pulled to Provo or Ogden jobs.

1903 Avenues Queen Anne — straight rail on original hardwood treads

The Avenues Historic District, UT Installed March 2026

A 1903 Queen Anne on Third Avenue with the original two-story oak staircase, carved newel post, and 14 fir treads that have been refinished exactly once in 120 years. Mrs. Sorensen is 86 and hadn't been upstairs since a fall on the landing last November. Luis bolted a slim-profile straight rail into the hardwood treads — not into the oak banister, not near the newel — and the upper landing chair parks flush against the wall so the hallway reads clean. The Historic Landmark Commission did not require review because the installation is interior-only and invisible from the public way. She was back in her own bedroom that evening.

1895 Capitol Hill mansion — curved rail past the original walnut balustrade at the upper landing

Capitol Hill, UT Installed February 2026

An 1895 Victorian on North Main Street below the State Capitol — three stories, a 90-degree turn at the mid-landing, and an original walnut balustrade the family considered non-negotiable. The home sits inside the Capitol Hill Historic District, so any exterior-visible modification requires Historic Landmark Commission review. The interior was fair game. Luis laser-scanned the run on visit one, fabricated the curved rail to thread past the original newel and balustrade, and installed on a Saturday. The rail sweeps around the upper landing and the chair parks flush against the wall at the top floor. Mrs. Richardson's 89-year-old mother now uses all three floors again.

1924 Sugar House Craftsman — compact straight rail under the original archway

Sugar House, UT Installed December 2025

A 1924 Craftsman bungalow on Wilmington Avenue with the classic Sugar House layout: 1.5 stories, the staircase passing under a low archway between the living room and the upper bedroom. Every inch counted. Luis ran the entire consultation in Spanish with Señora Gutiérrez — twice, at her request — fitted the slimmest compact-profile rail in our catalog, and added a folding footrest so the chair tucks fully under the archway when parked. The swivel-exit seat rotates 90 degrees at the upper landing so she steps off onto the hallway floor, not the top tread. Her grandchildren still run up and down around her.

1940s East Bench Tudor — outdoor rail on the concrete porch steps from driveway to front door

East Bench / Federal Heights, UT Installed January 2026

A 1942 Tudor Revival on the hillside below the University of Utah with the classic East Bench problem: the driveway sits 12 steps below the front entry porch. Mr. Jensen, 83, had been using a handrail and willpower through two winters, but his physical therapist at the Wahlen VA Medical Center finally said the risk wasn't worth it. Luis anchored an outdoor rail through the concrete porch treads into the footer below Utah's 30-inch frost line, routed the battery to a weatherproof junction inside the garage, and sealed every penetration against snowmelt. The motor housing is impact-rated for the canyon wind gusts that blow down from the Cottonwoods. Mr. Jensen's VA HISA grant covered $6,800 of the install.

1960s Rose Park ranch — straight rail on carpeted split-level stairs

Rose Park, UT Installed November 2025

A 1963 ranch in Rose Park with a carpeted split-level staircase — eight steps from the living room down to the family room, covered in the same brown wall-to-wall carpet the house has had since the 1980s remodel. Mrs. Olsen, 80, had been avoiding the lower level entirely after a fall on the carpeted treads last winter. Luis bolted the straight rail through the carpet into the treads beneath — no carpet removal, no re-stretching, no mess. The brown upholstered seat blends with the carpet tones so naturally her grandchildren barely noticed it. Battery backup carried through every winter outage without interruption.

Platform Lift

Glendale two-story — indoor wheelchair platform lift for a service-connected veteran

Glendale, UT Installed October 2025

A 1975 two-story in Glendale where Sgt. (Ret.) Delgado uses a power wheelchair after a service-connected spinal injury and cannot transfer to a seated stairlift. Luis installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift with a flat anti-slip deck and yellow high-visibility safety edges along the indoor stairway between the main floor and the upstairs bedrooms. The HISA grant through the Wahlen VA Medical Center covered $6,800 of the installed cost, and the VA prosthetics team at 500 Foothill Drive handled the prescription. The platform folds flat against the wall when not in use, and the consultation was conducted entirely in Spanish at Mrs. Delgado's request.

Common Questions

Everything Salt Lake City Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Salt Lake City right now?

Straight rails in a standard Salt Lake home run $2,900 to $5,600 installed. Curved rails — common in Avenues Victorians, Capitol Hill mansions with the original newel, and Federal Heights Tudors with the switchback landing — run $9,500 to $15,500 because the rail is laser-scanned and manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor rails for an East Bench hillside entry or a Sugar House front stoop run $4,500 to $8,000 and ship with cold-weather lithium batteries and UV-stabilized upholstery as standard at this altitude. Every Salt Lake quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes install, rail, seat, altitude-rated battery, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in the Avenues or Federal Heights than the west side?

Equipment prices are identical whether you're in Federal Heights or Rose Park — we don't inflate quotes for east-side addresses. What occasionally adds a line item is Salt Lake-specific work: a dedicated 20-amp circuit in a pre-1920 Avenues Victorian still running original knob-and-tube (requires a DOPL-licensed Journeyman or Master Electrician and a Salt Lake City electrical permit), or a Historic Landmark Commission Certificate of Appropriateness for exterior-visible work in the Avenues, Capitol Hill, South Temple, Central City, Westmoreland, or Yalecrest historic districts. We quote those line items separately so you see them before you sign.

Do you charge extra for Spanish-language service?

No. Luis is bilingual Spanish and runs every assessment in Glendale, Poplar Grove, and Rose Park directly in Spanish. Every printed quote, consent form, and operator manual is available in Spanish at no charge. Salt Lake City's west-side neighborhoods have a growing Spanish-speaking senior population and we've been doing bilingual installs there since 2014. No add-on fee, no phone-tree hand-off, no second visit required.

Any hidden fees for historic-district or HOA homes?

The quote includes the paperwork we handle for you — Historic Landmark Commission submissions for the Avenues HD, Capitol Hill HD, South Temple HD, Westmoreland HD, Yalecrest HD, and Central City, plus HOA accommodation packets for newer east-side and Sugar House developments. Federal Fair Housing Act requires HOAs to grant reasonable accommodations for residents with documented disabilities, and we provide the accommodation packet at no charge. The only third-party add-on that sometimes applies is a structural engineer's letter (roughly $350-$600) when a condo board asks for one — we tell you before the work starts, never after.

A word from Luis

Most Salt Lake City calls come after a winter. A retired professor in a 1905 Avenues Victorian who stopped using the second floor after slipping on the landing in January. A widow in a 1960s East Bench ranch who can't manage the eight concrete steps from the garage to the kitchen door when they're glazed with black ice. A daughter in Federal Heights worried about the original fir staircase in her mother's Tudor — the one with the hand-turned newel that nobody in the family will let a contractor touch.

My job is simple: get to your Salt Lake address inside 24 hours, measure once, and hold the price for 30 days. En español si lo prefiere — especially in Glendale, Poplar Grove, and Rose Park where I run assessments in Spanish every week.

— Luis Ramírez, Salt Lake City
