Straight Stairlift

The standard for West Jordan's 1990s two-story homes — Oquirrh Highlands to Mountain Vistas.

Over 70% of the stairlifts we install across West Jordan and the southwest Salt Lake Valley are straight models. The rail bolts to your stair treads — never into the wall — and the seat and footrest fold flat when not in use. Every West Jordan unit ships with an altitude-rated motor controller calibrated for 4,500 feet rather than the factory sea-level default. Battery backup keeps you moving through winter storm power outages. Most West Jordan installs finish in under four hours.

Starting at $3,200 installed

What's Included

  • Battery backup for power outages
  • Swivel seat with safety lock
  • Two wireless remote controls
  • Soft start and soft stop motion
  • Fold-up seat, arms, and footrest
  • 10-year motor & gearbox warranty

Compared to Alternatives

vs Curved: 3x less expensive and installed in one visit. vs Home elevator: 10-15x less cost and no construction. vs Moving bedroom downstairs: Keeps your home exactly as it is.

Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Salt Lake County

Salt Lake County, UT

From the 1990s two-stories of Oquirrh Highlands and Oquirrh Shadows — where the housing stock was built for young families who are now grandparents — to the established ramblers of Shadow Mountain along the foothills, to the newer sections around Copper Hills High School where stone-tile entries require masonry anchors, our team has measured stairs in every section of West Jordan. We know which Jordan Oaks colonials have the upper-landing curve that requires a custom-fabricated rail, which 1980s ramblers off 7800 South have the split-level entry that makes a standard straight rail impossible, and which Mountain Vistas and Oquirrh Hills homes have the fully carpeted treads that need countersunk mounting.

We also cover South Jordan, Kearns, West Valley City, Taylorsville, and Copperton without travel surcharges.

Oquirrh Highlands two-story — straight rail on oak-stained treads

Oquirrh Highlands, UT Installed March 2026

A 1994 two-story in the Oquirrh Highlands subdivision with oak-stained treads and a carpeted runner down the center that the homeowner wanted to keep. Mrs. Larsen is 78 and had a partial knee replacement at Jordan Valley Medical Center last November. Her son in South Jordan called us on a Wednesday and we measured Thursday morning. The rail is color-matched to the existing oak stain, the runner is completely untouched, and the folding seat leaves the full stair width open. She was riding before the weekend.

Jordan Oaks colonial — curved rail wrapping the upper landing turn

Jordan Oaks, UT Installed February 2026

A 1997 colonial in the Jordan Oaks subdivision with a formal two-story foyer and a staircase that turns 90 degrees at the upper landing before opening onto the bedroom hallway. Mr. Christiansen has Parkinson’s — the tremor makes the turn at the top the most dangerous part of the staircase. Two other companies told the family they needed two separate lifts. We laser-scanned the geometry and fabricated a single curved rail. One ride from foyer to hallway. His neurologist at U of U Redwood confirmed the single-ride design eliminates the fall risk a mid-staircase transfer would have created.

Copper Hills area — straight rail over stone-tile entry steps

Copper Hills, UT Installed January 2026

A 2001 home in the Copper Hills area with a stone-tile entry staircase — five steps from the garage-level mudroom up to the main living floor, all interior, with cultured-stone risers and slate treads the Sorensens picked out when the house was built. Mr. Sorensen is 81 and was using the garage entry exclusively because the front-door steps had become too risky. We drilled precision masonry anchors into the slate treads — each anchor footprint is smaller than a quarter — and mounted a straight rail with a soft-start motor. He uses the main entry again for the first time in two years.

Outdoor

Shadow Mountain — outdoor lift on stone-paver front porch entry

Shadow Mountain, UT Installed December 2025

A 1993 rambler in the Shadow Mountain subdivision with a raised front porch, six exterior stone-paver steps, and full exposure to Utah’s four-season weather — 100-degree summer days, sub-zero January nights, spring freeze-thaw cycles that crack anything not anchored properly. Mr. Webb is a Korean War-era veteran who served at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden and qualified for a HISA grant through the VA Salt Lake City Health Care System at 500 Foothill Drive. The outdoor rail is rated IP55, sealed against snow melt and desert dust, with an altitude-calibrated motor controller. It has been through a full Utah winter without a single service call.

Mountain Vistas — straight rail on fully carpeted staircase

Mountain Vistas, UT Installed November 2025

A 1996 two-story in the Mountain Vistas subdivision with plush wall-to-wall carpet on every tread and riser — standard for the 1990s Wasatch Front tract homes that make up most of West Jordan’s housing stock. Mrs. Jensen had been living exclusively on the main floor for four months after a fall on the top step. We countersunk every bracket bolt through the carpet into the wood tread below. The carpet fibers close around each bolt head. Three hours start to finish, and she went upstairs that evening for the first time since July.

Platform Lift

West Jordan split-level — indoor wheelchair platform lift with yellow safety edges

West Jordan, UT Installed October 2025

A 1988 split-level rambler off 7800 South where Mr. Gutierrez’s full-time wheelchair made a seated stairlift impractical — the transfer from wheelchair to seat and back would have been required twice per trip, and his spinal cord injury makes unsupported standing transfers unsafe. We installed an indoor vertical wheelchair platform lift alongside the existing staircase, with yellow pressure-sensitive safety edges on every perimeter, self-closing gates at both landings, and a keyed lockout so visiting grandchildren cannot operate it unsupervised. His DSPD case manager confirmed the install met every specification in his individualized service plan.

Common Questions

Everything West Jordan Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in West Jordan?

Straight rails in standard West Jordan homes — the two-story colonials in Oquirrh Highlands, the 1990s ramblers in Mountain Vistas, the newer builds near Copper Hills — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for homes with landing turns or split-level geometries run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase measurements. Outdoor models rated for Utah’s four-season extremes run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes the rail, seat, battery backup, altitude-rated motor controller, installation labor, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in West Jordan than Salt Lake City proper?

Equipment prices are identical across the Salt Lake Valley — we do not adjust quotes based on zip code. What can vary slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: masonry anchors on stone-tile entry stairs in newer Copper Hills builds, compensating shims for foundation settlement in pre-1990 ramblers, or the rare electrical work when a 1980s home needs a dedicated 20A circuit because of aluminum wiring. We itemize every line upfront. No surprises.

Is there a travel fee for South Jordan, Kearns, or Taylorsville?

No. West Jordan, South Jordan, Kearns, Taylorsville, Midvale, West Valley City, and the entire southwest Salt Lake Valley fall inside our standard service radius. Zero travel surcharge, zero mileage add-ons. The price on the quote is the price you pay.

Does the altitude-rated motor add cost?

No. Every stairlift we install in West Jordan ships with the motor controller recalibrated for 4,500 feet — it is the Utah default, not an upgrade. The factory sea-level cooling profile runs the motor hotter at altitude, which shortens the lifespan. We recalibrate before the truck leaves. It is built into the standard quote.

A word from Luis

West Jordan families usually call me for one of two reasons — a parent who built or bought a two-story in the Oquirrh Highlands or Jordan Oaks subdivision in the 1990s and is now 75 with a bad knee, or a grown child in South Jordan or Taylorsville worried about a mother alone in a split-level rambler she has lived in for 30 years.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and hand you a written price honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
