Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Los Angeles County

Los Angeles County, CA

West Hollywood's residential neighborhoods pack a lot of stair variety into 1.9 square miles. Norma Triangle, bounded by Doheny, Sunset, and Santa Monica, is dense with 1920s courtyard apartments where staircases are often narrow and original — straight rails bolt cleanly to the treads here. West Hollywood West, south of Melrose, skews mid-century: wider stairwells, more split-levels, and a fair number of curved rail installs where the stairs turn at a half-landing. Tri-West, between Santa Monica and Melrose, mixes 1930s bungalows with newer condo conversions — compact homes where space is tight and a rail that hugs the wall makes the difference. West Hollywood North climbs into the foothills below Runyon Canyon; outdoor stoop lifts and weather-sealed straight units are common here on hillside entries.

Straight

Spanish Revival Straight Rail, Norma Triangle

Norma Triangle, CA Installed February 2026

1928 Spanish Revival courtyard apartment off Doheny Drive. The staircase is original dark hardwood — tight-grained oak, 34 inches wide. The straight rail bolts directly to the treads with five brackets, no wall drilling. The beige seat matches the cream plaster walls. Homeowner needed a way to reach the upstairs bathroom after a hip replacement. The lift parks at the bottom landing, tucked beside a built-in bookshelf.

Curved

Split-Level Curved Rail, West Hollywood West

West Hollywood West, CA Installed March 2026

1960s split-level condo south of Melrose. The staircase climbs six steps to a half-landing, turns 90 degrees left, then climbs eight more steps to the upper floor. A chandelier hangs centered over the landing. Luis took a 1-hour laser template on site. The custom curved rail was fabricated off-site and installed in one visit — it follows the turn radius exactly, clears the chandelier by 10 inches, and the brown seat parks at the top landing.

Bungalow Straight Lift, Tri-West

Tri-West, CA Installed January 2026

1930s compact bungalow on a tree-lined street near Santa Monica Boulevard. The staircase has stone-tread steps with a wooden sideboard built in at the base — tight quarters, 32 inches wide. A straight brown seat rail mounts to the treads and hugs the wall without interfering with the sideboard. The homeowner's mother, 78, uses it to reach the only bathroom, which is upstairs. Install took a morning.

Outdoor

Hillside Outdoor Entry Lift, West Hollywood North

West Hollywood North, CA Installed April 2026

Hillside property north of Sunset, below Runyon Canyon. The entry stoop climbs 14 stone-paved steps from street level to the front door — no garage access, no ramp option. The cream outdoor lift is IP55 weather-sealed with marine-grade components, mounted directly to the stone treads. The homeowner's father, an 82-year-old with COPD, can now get from the car to the house without stopping to catch his breath on the steps. Installed in one morning, tested in the rain two days later.

Condo Carpeted Staircase, SoFo

SoFo, CA Installed March 2026

1980s condo building south of Fountain Avenue. The staircase is fully carpeted in beige — the brown seat matches the carpet tone almost exactly. Straight rail, 15 feet, mounted through the carpet into the wood treads beneath. The homeowner's wife has MS and was limiting herself to the ground floor. Now she uses the lift three times a day to reach the bedroom and home office upstairs. Tile floor at the base landing is untouched by the install.

Platform Lift

Wheelchair Platform Lift, West Hollywood East

West Hollywood East, CA Installed January 2026

Multi-unit building near Santa Monica Boulevard. The resident is a full-time wheelchair user who could not transfer to a seat lift. The inclined platform lift — flat black deck with yellow safety edges — rides a straight rail up a 14-step staircase in the building's common stairwell. The platform folds up when not in use, leaving the stairs passable for other residents. Key-fob operated from both landings. The HOA approved it after reviewing our spec sheet at one board meeting.

Common Questions

Everything West Hollywood Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

How much does a stairlift cost in West Hollywood?

A straight stairlift for a standard West Hollywood staircase starts at $2,800 installed. Curved lifts, which require custom rail fabrication, start at $9,000. Outdoor straight lifts for hillside entries start at $4,000. Heavy-duty models with 600 lb capacity start at $5,050. Every quote includes the assessment, rail, carriage, installation, and a 5-year warranty. Financing runs $79/month. The final price depends on the rail length, number of turns, and whether the install is indoor or outdoor — not on the neighborhood or zip code.

Are there extra costs for installing a stairlift in an older West Hollywood building?

Not usually. The rail bolts to the stair treads, not the walls, so lath-and-plaster, original tile, and hardwood aren't disturbed. If the stairs are unusually narrow — below 32 inches — the rail can be mounted closer to the wall. The one scenario that can add cost: curved stairs in 1920s courtyard apartments where the turn radius is tighter than modern code. Those require a custom rail bent from a laser template taken on site, which adds fabrication time but no surprise fees. The assessment is free and we give you a firm price before any work starts.

What affects stairlift pricing more — the product type or the building?

The product type. Straight versus curved is the biggest cost driver — a curved rail costs roughly three times a straight one because it's custom-fabricated from a laser measurement. Rail length adds incrementally. Indoor versus outdoor matters because outdoor units need weather sealing and marine-grade components. The building itself rarely affects price unless there are access issues — a fourth-floor walk-up with no elevator, for example, requires more labor to carry the rail sections up. Most West Hollywood buildings have common stairwells or direct ground-floor access, so this is uncommon.

Do you offer financing for stairlifts in West Hollywood?

Yes. Financing starts at $79/month through third-party lenders we work with regularly. There's no prepayment penalty. We also walk you through Medi-Cal's Environmental Accessibility Adaptations (EAA) benefit through the HCBA waiver, which can cover the full cost of a medically necessary stairlift for qualifying members. VA HISA grants provide up to $6,800 for eligible veterans — one-time, tax-free, never repaid. Most West Hollywood residents use some combination of financing, insurance, or a grant rather than paying the full amount out of pocket.

A word from Luis

West Hollywood throws a curveball at stairlift installers that you don't see in newer cities. About half the homes I work on here were built between 1920 and 1940 — bungalow courts on Kings Road, Spanish Revival duplexes in Norma Triangle, courtyard apartments off Doheny. The treads are original hardwood or Saltillo tile, and the stair widths run 32 to 36 inches, not the 42 you get in a modern tract home. A straight rail bolts right to those old-growth treads without touching the walls, which matters when you're dealing with lath-and-plaster from the Coolidge administration.

Then there are the hillside properties north of Sunset — multi-level condos where the entry stairs climb two stories from the garage to the front door. We've done outdoor straight lifts on those entry stoops, sealed for the occasional winter rain. The Tri-West and West Hollywood West neighborhoods lean more mid-century, with wider stairs and cleaner runs, but even there you'll find split-levels where a curved rail is the only answer. I've installed in every zip code here — 90069, 90048, 90046 — and I know which buildings have HOAs that require board approval before any exterior modification and which ones handle it with a simple architectural-review form.

The one thing that surprises people: despite all the stairs in this city, a lot of residents don't know Medi-Cal can cover a lift through the HCBA waiver's Environmental Accessibility Adaptations benefit. Or that the West LA VA Medical Center on Wilshire processes HISA grants for veterans. Those programs exist — someone just has to tell you about them. That's part of what I do at every assessment.

— Luis Ramírez, West Hollywood
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Living in West Hollywood means stairs are part of the deal — whether it's the 1920s courtyard walk-up in Norma Triangle, the hillside entry off Sunset, or the split-level condo near the Pacific Design Center. A stairlift doesn't change the character of the building. The rail bolts to the treads, not the walls. The lift parks at the top or bottom landing, out of the way. It runs on a DC motor with a battery backup, so even if a summer brownout hits during a heat wave, the lift still operates.

Give us a call or fill out the form on this page. Luis comes out to your building — no charge for the assessment — measures your stairs, checks the tread material and width, and tells you exactly what works. Most installs are done in half a day. If funding is the thing holding you back, ask about the Medi-Cal EAA benefit or the VA HISA grant. There's usually a path that doesn't involve paying everything out of pocket.
