Lincoln Harbor's newer townhouses and apartment buildings mostly have one straight flight, which uses stock rail and keeps the price down. Older homes built into the Palisades grade — King's Bluff, the early Highwood Park houses — often have a landing or a bend partway up, and that calls for a curved rail custom-built to match the exact turn, which raises the cost.
Rarely the full amount on its own. Jersey Assistance for Community Caregiving (JACC) caps out at $11,158.56 a year — $929.88 a month — for seniors who qualify but aren't on Medicaid, which helps but usually doesn't cover a curved-rail install outright. If you're enrolled in NJ Medicaid MLTSS, the program can authorize a stairlift through your Plan of Care with no fixed dollar cap, which goes further.
Yes. A lot of the calls I get from Lincoln Harbor's rental buildings are about shorter-term or removable rail options with the landlord's sign-off, rather than the permanent install a homeowner would choose in a house they plan to stay in for years.

Curved-rail installs in homes like these take longer to fabricate than a straight run because the rail is essentially built to order.
Mostly it's a building-management question before it's a technical one. Interior stairs in a private townhouse are usually straightforward, but if the stairs in question are in a common area of a condo or apartment building, you need sign-off from the building or HOA before install day, not after.
