The workhorse of North Bergen’s two-families, walk-ups, and colonials. Over 70% of the stairlifts we install in North Bergen are this model. A single straight run, the rail bolts to your stair treads (never into the wall), the seat and footrest fold up out of the way, and the compact profile leaves 18+ inches of clear passage even in a 29-inch Bergenwood stairwell. Most installs wrap in under four hours. Battery backup carries you through a Hudson County summer brownout.

Stairlift Service Across Hudson County

Hudson County, NJ

North Bergen’s housing stock varies by elevation and era. Along Boulevard East and the Palisades ridge, detached brick colonials and oversized two-families face wind exposure and steep grades from street to front door — outdoor stoop lifts here must handle winter ice and salt air off the Hudson. The Woodcliff section near James J. Braddock Park has some of the township’s largest detached homes, many with full interior staircases and mid-landing turns requiring curved rails.

Bergenwood, the commercial and residential heart along Bergenline Avenue, is dominated by pre-war two-family brick homes with steep, narrow interior stairs — 28- to 30-inch stairwells where compact-profile rails and folding seats earn their keep. New Durham, south of Tonnelle Avenue, mixes older colonials with mid-landing turns and 1960s ranches that often need outdoor lifts rather than interior ones. Hudson County’s continuous housing stock means we also cover West New York, Guttenberg, Fairview, Union City, Secaucus, and Weehawken — all within 10 minutes of Bergenline Avenue.

Bergenwood two-family brick — compact rail in a 29-inch shared stairwell

Bergenwood, NJ Installed March 2026

A mid-century two-family brick home one block off Bergenline Avenue, where the homeowner lives on the upper floor and a tenant occupies the ground level. The shared staircase measured 29 inches wall-to-wall with dark hardwood treads. We bolted the compact-profile rail directly into the oak treads, added a folding footrest so the lift tucks completely flat when parked at the bottom landing, and left 18 inches of clear passage on the non-rail side. Mrs. Fernández, 78, rode upstairs to her own bedroom the afternoon we finished.

Woodcliff colonial — curved rail around the mid-landing turn to the upper bedrooms

Woodcliff, NJ Installed February 2026

A 1960s colonial in the Woodcliff section near James J. Braddock Park, with a classic center-hall plan and a 90-degree turn at the upper landing. We digitally scanned the staircase on the first visit, fabricated a curved rail that carries the chair from the front hall to the upper bedroom hallway in a single continuous ride, and installed a swivel-exit seat at the top so Mr. Castellano steps off onto the hallway floor instead of balancing on the top tread. The framed art along the curved wall and the chandelier above stayed untouched.

New Durham cottage — straight rail beside the family sideboard on stone treads

New Durham, NJ Installed January 2026

A compact 1955 colonial south of Tonnelle Avenue with stone-tiled treads and a cozy foyer where a wooden sideboard and potted plant sit just inches from the stair base. The stairwell is tight but straight — no turns, no landing. We bolted the rail into the stone treads, positioned the bottom charge point so the parked seat sits snug against the sideboard without blocking the hallway, and Mrs. Kim can fold the seat flat when her son visits from Fort Lee. The traditional cottage feel of the home stayed intact.

Boulevard East raised front stoop — weather-sealed outdoor lift on stone steps

Boulevard East, NJ Installed December 2025

A detached brick home on Boulevard East with a raised front stoop — seven stone-paved steps from the sidewalk to the front door, fully exposed to Hudson River wind and winter ice. Mr. Alvarez, 79, had slipped on the third step the previous February. We anchored a weather-sealed outdoor rail into the existing stone paving with stainless fasteners, installed a cream-colored weather-resistant seat with a keyed lockout, and applied marine-grade coating against the salt air. Natural daylight floods the covered porch entry where the seat parks at the top.

Bergenline Avenue walk-up — straight rail on carpeted stairs, consultation in Spanish

Bergenwood, NJ Installed November 2025

A pre-war walk-up two blocks off Bergenline Avenue where three generations live under one roof. The carpeted stairs run 13 feet from the tiled entry to the upper landing, with wall-mounted light switches along the way. We bolted the rail through the carpet into the subfloor beneath, positioned the seat so the brown upholstery blends with the carpet tones, and conducted the entire user-training walkthrough in Spanish at the kitchen table. The safety reference card on the chair is printed in both languages.

Platform Lift

New Durham two-story — inclined wheelchair platform lift for a veteran who cannot transfer

New Durham, NJ Installed October 2025

A two-story home south of Tonnelle Avenue where Mr. O’Brien, a Hudson County veteran, uses a power wheelchair after spinal surgery and cannot transfer to a seated stairlift. We installed an indoor inclined platform lift on the existing stairway — a flat black anti-slip platform with bright yellow high-visibility safety edges along the perimeter, a white handrail, and interlocking gates at both levels. The platform rides the indoor stairway between floors so he rolls on at the bottom and rolls off at the top without leaving his wheelchair. His VA provider at the East Orange campus wrote the HISA prescription.

Common Questions

Everything North Bergen Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in North Bergen right now?

Straight rails in standard North Bergen homes — the two-family brick buildings in Bergenwood, the colonials in New Durham, the walk-ups along Bergenline Avenue — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you’ll need for the mid-landing turns in Woodcliff colonials and the L-shaped staircases in some New Durham two-families, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor stoop lifts for the raised front entries along Boulevard East and throughout Bergenwood run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in North Bergen than other Hudson County towns?

Equipment prices are the same across New Jersey — we don’t inflate quotes for Boulevard East addresses or Woodcliff homes. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: compact-profile rails for Bergenwood’s sub-30-inch stairwells, stainless anchoring into stone front stoops, and the surge-rated charger we include for Palisades corridor brownouts. We tell you the line items upfront. No surprise premiums.

Do you charge extra for Spanish-language service?

No. North Bergen is roughly 69% Latino and our installer Luis conducts assessments in Spanish on request from the first phone call through the written quote, consent forms, user-training walkthrough, and the safety reference card mounted on the chair. Every printed document is available in Spanish at zero surcharge. For the Cuban, Colombian, and Dominican families along Bergenline Avenue and throughout Bergenwood, this is how we should have always done business.

Any hidden fees for two-family or condo buildings?

Our quote includes the paperwork we handle for you — we’ve worked with dozens of North Bergen two-family homeowners and multi-family boards. Under NJ’s Law Against Discrimination (N.J.S.A. 10:5-1) and the federal Fair Housing Amendments Act, boards must permit reasonable accessibility accommodations for disabled residents. What can add cost (rarely) is when a board requires its own engineer’s letter. If that happens, we tell you before we start — not after.

A word from Luis

Most North Bergen families call me after a near-miss on the stairs — a slip on the narrow treads of a Bergenwood two-family, a parent who stopped going upstairs after knee surgery in a New Durham colonial, a daughter in Manhattan who can see the Palisades from her office window but can’t be there when her mother needs help on the front stoop.

My job is simple: get to your home within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that’s honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere — Bergenline Avenue, Bergenwood, New Durham.
