Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across St. Louis County

St. Louis County, MN

We install across Virginia and the surrounding Mesabi Iron Range. The Finntown and Oldtown blocks above the Rouchleau pit hold early-1900s miner bungalows with steep, narrow stairs that often need a custom curve. Around Olcott Park the larger American Foursquares have tall, straight runs. Homes near Silver Lake and Bailey Lake mix century cottages with postwar ranches and split-levels on full basements. We also serve the Mountain Iron side and nearby Eveleth and Gilbert. Every install is sized for Range winters, with battery backup for long January outages.

Straight

Finntown — straight rail on original oak treads

Finntown, MN Installed March 2026

In a 1912 miner bungalow above the Rouchleau pit in Finntown, Luis fit a straight rail on the dark oak treads, with the beige seat parked at the bottom landing. He bolted the track into the treads, not the old plaster walls, so the staircase stayed original. The DC battery backup is sized for Range winter outages.

Olcott Park — curved rail at the upper landing

Olcott Park, MN Installed January 2026

A tall American Foursquare near Olcott Park had a 90-degree turn at the upper landing where the stairs bend around a half-wall. Luis laser-measured the corner and the rail was custom-bent to match, the brown seat parked at the top floor against the home's high ceilings. The fit is clean and tight. Curved rails like this start at $9,000.

Oldtown — compact rail by the sideboard on tile treads

Oldtown, MN Installed May 2026

A compact miner cottage in Oldtown had a short, tight run with stone-tile treads and a wooden sideboard at the foot of the stairs. Luis fit a brown-seat straight rail that hugs the wall and clears the cabinet, parked at the bottom landing. The traditional cottage feel stayed intact, and the seat folds flat between rides.

Silver Lake — outdoor lift on stone porch steps

Silver Lake, MN Installed November 2025

A home near Silver Lake had a high front stoop with steep stone-paved steps that bury in snow each winter. Luis installed the outdoor unit with its cream weather-sealed seat and IP-rated motor, built for Iron Range snow load and deep freeze-thaw. A snug winter cover protects it between uses. Outdoor lifts start at $4,000.

Mountain Iron — carpeted straight run in a postwar ranch

Mountain Iron, MN Installed March 2026

In a postwar ranch on the Mountain Iron side, Luis fit a straight rail on the carpeted treads, the brown seat matched to the warm carpet tones, with a tiled floor at the base. A standard residential run, no wall drilling. The battery backup proved itself a week later during a Range power outage, carrying the rider up without trouble.

Platform Lift

Bailey Lake — indoor wheelchair platform lift

Bailey Lake, MN Installed April 2026

A wheelchair user in a split-level near Bailey Lake needed to reach the main floor without transferring out of the chair. Luis installed an indoor inclined platform lift — a flat black deck with yellow safety edges and a white handrail — that the rider rolls straight onto. It is ADA-compliant and loads up to 600 lb, riding smoothly up the staircase.

Common Questions

Everything Virginia Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding, no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

How much does a stairlift cost in Virginia, MN?

A straight stairlift in Virginia starts at $2,800 installed. Curved rails for the steep, turning runs in Finntown and Oldtown bungalows are custom-built and start at $9,000. Outdoor units run from $4,000, and our 600 lb heavy-duty model starts at $5,050. We give a flat quote after a free in-home measure, with no separate trip charge across the Quad Cities.

Why does a curved stairlift cost more in Virginia?

A straight rail is one cut length, starting at $2,800. A curved rail must be laser-measured and bent to your exact turn — common in the early-1900s miner bungalows around Finntown where builders cut stairs narrow to save heat. That custom fabrication is why curved units start at $9,000. The taller straight runs in Olcott Park Foursquares stay at the lower price.

Can I finance a stairlift in Virginia, MN?

Yes. Financing starts at $79 per month, which keeps a straight stairlift affordable for retired Range households on fixed incomes. Many families pair financing with Minnesota's Elderly Waiver or a VA HISA grant to lower the out-of-pocket cost. We lay out every number at the free assessment so there are no surprises later.

Does winter weather affect stairlift pricing in Virginia?

The lift price is the same year-round, but our Virginia installs always include a DC battery backup sized for the long power outages a January ice storm can cause on the Range — that's standard, not an add-on. Outdoor units cost more, from $4,000, because they're sealed and rated for snow load and deep freeze-thaw cycles.

A word from Luis

Virginia's housing was built by the mines, and you can read it on the stairs. The early-1900s bungalows and American Foursquares around Finntown and Oldtown sit on small grid lots with steep, narrow runs — treads cut closer to 8 inches, because nobody was wasting heated square footage when winter hits 30 below. Closer to Olcott Park and Silver Lake you find the bigger Foursquares, and out toward the Bailey Lake side the postwar ranches and split-levels with full basements.

Cold is the real design factor up here on the Range. I size the battery backup for the long outages a January ice storm can bring, and I keep the indoor units indoors — an outdoor seat earns its keep on the high front stoops, but it has to be the sealed, weatherproof unit, not a standard chair left to freeze. I bolt every rail to the treads, never the old plaster. I'll measure your stairs for free and tell you honestly what fits.
