Stairlift Service Across Somerset County

Somerset County, NJ

The Hills spans Bedminster and Bernards townships with distinct clusters. Hills Village and Hills Village North — including Birchwood, Cortland, and Wynnewood — have townhomes where straight staircases run ground-to-upper-floor, typically 36 inches wide with carpeted or hardwood treads. Hills Highlands straddles the township line with Amherst Mews, Hamilton Crest, and Crestmont Highlands — several layouts include mid-flight landings that need curved rails. The Hills West has condo units with tighter stairwells. Signal Point and Mayfield offer wider single-family layouts, some with outdoor stair access to rear decks. Most units were built 1982–1999, so stair geometry is consistent across the development.

Hills Village Townhome — Straight Rail, Dark Hardwood

Hills Village, NJ Installed February 2026

The Callahans' Hills Village townhome has a 14-foot straight staircase with dark oak treads — standard for units built in the mid-1980s. The beige seat rail was cut to length on site and bolted directly into the treads in five positions. No wall anchoring, no drywall work. The whole job took 3 hours. Mrs. Callahan was using the upstairs bathroom independently that evening.

Hamilton Crest — Curved Rail at Upper Landing

Hamilton Crest, NJ Installed March 2026

Hamilton Crest townhomes in Hills Highlands have a distinctive 90° turn at the upper landing with a half-wall. The Patels' staircase required a custom-bent curved rail — laser-measured on site, fabricated off-site in 6 days, then installed in a single morning. The brown seat parks at the top floor, out of the hallway sightline. Modern interior with chandelier overhead.

Wynnewood Cottage-Style — Stone Treads, Compact Space

Wynnewood, NJ Installed January 2026

Wynnewood's cottage-style townhomes have stone-look tile treads and tight lower landings near built-in cabinetry. The Kowalskis' straight staircase runs 12 feet adjacent to a wooden sideboard, leaving just enough clearance for the folded seat at the bottom. The brown seat rail was mounted directly into the tile treads with masonry-rated fasteners. The fit is snug but fully code-compliant.

Outdoor

Crestmont Highlands — Outdoor Porch Entry

Crestmont Highlands, NJ Installed April 2026

Crestmont Highlands condos have front entries with rough stone paving and 8 exterior steps. The Bernsteins needed a weather-sealed outdoor lift. The cream-colored rail uses marine-grade coating and IP55-rated motor enclosure — built for Somerset County's 23-inch annual snowfall and freeze-thaw cycles. Mounted to the stone treads with stainless brackets. Full daylight exposure, no cover needed.

Amherst Mews — Carpeted Stairs, Warm-Tone Match

Amherst Mews, NJ Installed December 2025

Amherst Mews townhomes have fully carpeted stairs — beige cut-pile over plywood treads. The Robinsons chose a brown seat that matches the carpet tone. The rail brackets compressed the carpet pile slightly during mounting but did not tear or cut the fibers. The tiled floor at the base landing gives a clean fold-away position. Standard residential install, three hours door-to-door.

Platform Lift

Hills West — Indoor Wheelchair Platform Lift

Hills West, NJ Installed May 2026

The Nguyens' Hills West condo has a straight 15-foot staircase too narrow for a caregiver-assisted transfer. The solution was an indoor inclined platform lift — flat black deck with yellow safety edges, white handrail, rated to 600 lb. The platform folds up when not in use, leaving 18 inches of passable width. Installed in one day with no structural modification to the stairwell.

Common Questions

Everything The Hills Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in The Hills?

A straight rail for a standard Hills Village townhome runs from $2,800 installed. Curved rails for units with mid-flight landings — common in Hills Highlands and Amherst Mews — start at $9,000 because the rail is custom-bent to your exact stair geometry. Outdoor lifts for deck access start at $4,000. Heavy-duty units rated to 600 lb start at $5,050. All prices include the assessment, rail fabrication, installation, and cleanup. Financing starts at $79/month.

Do curved rails cost more in The Hills townhomes?

Yes. A curved rail is custom-fabricated after a 1-hour laser measurement of your exact staircase. Most Hills Highlands units — Hamilton Crest, Hamilton Ridge, Amherst Mews — have a single 90° turn at a landing. The rail is bent at the factory and ships in about a week. That engineering and fabrication is what drives the price from $9,000 versus $2,800 for a straight run. The install itself still takes about half a day.

Is financing available for stairlifts in New Jersey?

Yes — financing starts at $79/month through our lending partners. This is not a lease or rental; you own the lift outright. There is no prepayment penalty. We walk you through the application at the assessment — it takes about 10 minutes and most approvals come back same-day.

What affects the price of an outdoor stairlift at a The Hills property?

Outdoor lifts for deck stairs or front stoops start at $4,000. The main cost variable is rail length — a 6-foot porch stoop costs less than a 16-foot run down to a patio. The outdoor rail uses marine-grade coating and IP55 weather sealing to handle Somerset County winters (average 23 inches of snow, regular freeze-thaw cycles). The motor and battery are fully enclosed.

A word from Luis

I've installed lifts in every corner of this development — from Hills Village townhomes to Amherst Mews condos and the single-families over in Signal Point. The consistent thing about The Hills is the multi-level layout. Almost every unit has a full staircase, and most are straight runs — 12 to 16 feet, carpet or hardwood, standard 36-inch width. Those go in under three hours. The curved jobs are usually in Hills Highlands units with mid-flight landings. That takes a laser measurement and about a week for the rail to come back from the bender. Either way, the rail bolts into the treads, not the wall. No drywall repair, no rewiring, no mess.

We serve all of Bedminster and Bernards townships — Basking Ridge, Bernardsville, Far Hills, Peapack-Gladstone too. If you're in a Hills Village North unit with a tight stairwell, or an older Crestmont Highlands condo with a landing turn, I can tell you what fits before we even schedule the assessment. Call me.
