Straight Stairlift

Bestseller

The standard for Bristol Highlands two-stories, Canyon Lakes colonials, and Clear Creek developments. Over 70% of the stairlifts we install across Johnson County are straight rails — a clean single run from entry to upper hallway. The rail bolts into your stair treads, never touching the wall or banister, and the seat folds flat so the staircase stays fully usable for everyone else in the house. Every Kansas install ships with a cold-rated LiFePO4 battery certified to -20°F for ice-storm backup.

Starting at $3,200 installed

What's Included

  • Battery backup for power outages
  • Swivel seat with safety lock
  • Two wireless remote controls

Stairlift Service Across Johnson County

Johnson County, KS

From the 1950s and 1960s split-levels in Mill Valley and Woodland Park — where the conversation is almost always about the 90° landing turn that makes a straight rail impossible — to the two-story colonials in Bristol Highlands and Canyon Lakes with every bedroom upstairs and a half-bath on the ground floor, our team has mapped every staircase type Shawnee produces. We know which Bluejacket cottages need compact mounts for narrow stair widths and which Clear Creek homes have wider modern stair runs.

We also serve Lake Quivira, Lenexa, Edwardsville, Bonner Springs, Merriam, and Mission — same pricing, no mileage surcharge.

1962 Woodland Park ranch — beige-seat rail on original oak treads

Woodland Park, KS Installed March 2026

A 1962 ranch in Woodland Park with original oak treads and a warm wood banister the family had maintained for over 60 years. Mrs. Kessler's hip had been getting worse for two years but she refused to consider a stairlift until she slipped on the bottom tread coming down for coffee one morning. We bolted the beige-seat rail directly into the oak treads without touching the banister, the wall, or the newel post. The rail runs along the right side and the seat parks flush at the bottom landing. Her daughter drove over from Lenexa the following weekend and said the rail blends into the wood so well she walked past it twice before noticing.

90° landing turn in a 1966 Mill Valley split-level — one curved rail, zero transfers

Mill Valley, KS Installed February 2026

A 1966 split-level in Mill Valley — the most common staircase we measure in east Shawnee. Six steps from the entry to the main living level, a 90° turn at the mid-landing, then eight more steps up to the bedrooms. Another company told the Novaks they would need two separate lifts. We digitally scanned the staircase, fabricated a single curved rail that runs the full distance in one continuous track, and installed a brown-seat chair with a swivel-exit at the upper landing so Mrs. Novak steps off onto the hallway floor instead of the top tread.

Bluejacket-area cottage — compact brown-seat rail beside the family sideboard

Bluejacket, KS Installed January 2026

A 1955 cottage in the Bluejacket area near Old Shawnee Town with stone-tile entry treads and a wooden sideboard at the base of the stairs that the family has had since the house was built. Mrs. Hartley was clear: the sideboard stays, the banister stays, and nothing gets scratched. We mounted the brown-seat rail along the wall side, ran the track past the sideboard with clearance to spare, and added a folding footrest so the chair parks tight against the wall. The cozy, traditional interior is exactly the kind of older Shawnee home where every inch counts and careful installation is the difference between a stairlift that fits and one that disrupts the room.

Clear Creek raised entry — cream-seat outdoor lift on stone paving

Clear Creek, KS Installed December 2025

A Clear Creek home with a raised front entry — six stone-paved steps between the driveway and the front door, fully exposed to Kansas weather. Mr. Dawson had a stroke the previous summer and the entry stairs became the single most dangerous transition in his daily routine. We installed a cream-seat outdoor lift on the stone-paved entry with a weather hood rated for Kansas winter ice, spring hail, and summer thunderstorms. The cold-weather LiFePO4 battery has run through two ice events and a derecho without losing a ride.

Bristol Highlands two-story — brown-seat rail on carpeted stairs before knee surgery

Bristol Highlands, KS Installed November 2025

A 2004 two-story in Bristol Highlands with 14 carpeted treads and every bedroom on the second floor. Mrs. Ostrander was scheduled for a total knee replacement at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission the following month and needed the lift working before she came home. We assessed on Monday, installed the brown-seat rail on Wednesday, and she rode it from the front door to her bedroom when she came home ten days later. The seat color matches the brown carpet almost exactly, and the chair parks at the landing with a swivel-exit so she steps off safely onto the tiled hallway floor.

Platform Lift

Canyon Lakes — indoor wheelchair platform lift for a veteran's home

Canyon Lakes, KS Installed October 2025

The Ramirez family's son was injured while serving and now uses a power wheelchair. Their Canyon Lakes home has five steps from the garage level to the main floor — an indoor stairway with orange-tinted walls and a window at the mid-landing. A seated stairlift was not an option because he cannot transfer out of the chair. We installed an inclined platform lift with a flat black anti-slip deck, yellow high-visibility safety edges, and a white safety rail. The HISA grant through the Kansas City VA Medical Center covered the full cost. The platform folds up flush against the wall when not in use, and the keyed call station at the lower landing lets him summon it from the garage entry.

Common Questions

Everything Shawnee Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Shawnee right now?

Straight rails in standard Shawnee homes — the Bristol Highlands two-stories, the Canyon Lakes colonials, the newer Clear Creek developments — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you'll need for most 1960s Mill Valley and Woodland Park split-levels with a 90° landing, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, cold-weather battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Shawnee than in Overland Park or Olathe?

Equipment prices are the same across Johnson County — we don't inflate quotes for Bristol Highlands addresses or discount them for the older east-side neighborhoods. What varies is the install type: the 1960s split-levels in east Shawnee almost always need a curved rail, while the 2000s two-stories on the western side are usually straight. The rail type drives the price, not the zip code.

Do you charge extra for Spanish-language service?

No. Every Johnson County assessment can be conducted in Spanish at your request. Every printed quote, consent form, and operating manual is also available in Spanish. Zero surcharge.

Any hidden fees for HOA or 55+ community installs?

Our quote includes the HOA paperwork we handle for you. Shawnee's master-planned communities and the surrounding Johnson County neighborhoods with architectural review committees are required under the federal Fair Housing Act to approve reasonable accommodations for disabled residents. We provide the documentation packet at no charge.

A word from Luis

Shawnee sits on the western edge of Johnson County, and the housing stock tells the whole story: 1960s split-levels in Mill Valley and Woodland Park with that classic 90-degree landing turn, 2000s two-stories in Bristol Highlands and Canyon Lakes where every bedroom is upstairs, and original postwar cottages near Old Shawnee Town with narrow stair widths and tight newel posts.

My job is straightforward: show up within 24 hours, walk the stairs with you, and hand you a written quote before I leave. If you have a VA HISA claim through the Kansas City VA or a Frail Elderly Waiver through KDADS, I already know the paperwork — we process more HISA grants in Johnson County than any other county we cover in Kansas.
