Straight Stairlift — Santa Rosa, CA

Straight Stairlift

The standard for Santa Rosa's ranch homes, split-levels, and modern two-stories.

Over 65% of the stairlifts we install across Sonoma County are straight models. The rail bolts to your stair treads — never into the wall — the seat and footrest fold up out of the way, and the battery backup keeps you moving through the next PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff. Most ranch, split-level, and post-2000 two-story installs wrap in under four hours.

Starting at $3,200 installed

What's Included

Stairlift Service Across Sonoma County

Sonoma County, CA

From the hillside homes of Bennett Valley — where steep interior stairs follow the natural grade and curved rails have to navigate mid-landing turns — to the 1950s tract ranches of Rincon Valley with their split-level basements and narrow enclosed stairwells, our team has mapped every pocket of the city. We know which Fountaingrove rebuilds have the open-concept floating staircases that demand slim-profile rails, which McDonald Victorians have the original fir banisters and steep narrow treads, and which Skyhawk two-stories have the wide builder stairs that install in under three hours.

We also staff dedicated coverage for Montecito Heights, Southwest Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Rohnert Park, and Windsor.

1978 Rincon Valley colonial — straight rail on original oak treads

Rincon Valley, CA Installed March 2026

A 1978 two-story colonial in Rincon Valley with 14 carpeted treads over original oak and a homeowner who hadn't slept upstairs in four months after a knee replacement at Providence Santa Rosa Memorial. We bolted the rail into the treads beneath the carpet, specified the swivel-exit seat at the hallway landing, and tested the battery backup against PG&E shutoff scenarios. The beige seat sits unfolded against the open-tread hardwood staircase in the warm residential entry. Mrs. Novak tested it twice before we finished the paperwork. She slept in her own bedroom that night for the first time since surgery.

Bennett Valley hillside — curved rail through 90-degree mid-landing turn

Bennett Valley, CA Installed February 2026

A hillside home in Bennett Valley where the interior staircase follows the natural grade — 16 treads with a 90-degree turn at the mid-landing, steeper than flatland construction. Two other companies told the Kowalskis the grade was too steep for a curved rail. We laser-scanned the full staircase, fabricated the curved rail to match the exact geometry of the turn, and installed a swivel-exit seat at the upper landing. The brown-upholstered seat parks beneath the chandelier at the top. Mr. Kowalski rides from the entry to the bedroom hallway without getting off the seat — one rail, one ride.

Skyhawk tract home — compact straight rail in standard builder stairwell

Skyhawk, CA Installed January 2026

A 1998 two-story in Skyhawk with a standard builder layout — 13 treads, a wooden storage cabinet beside the bottom landing, and a compact entryway. Mrs. Alvarez fell carrying laundry; her daughter in Portland called us the same day. We measured Tuesday, installed Thursday. The brown-upholstered seat mounts on a straight rail bolted into the treads, parks next to the sideboard without blocking the passage, and folds flat against the wall when not in use. The cottage-scale stairwell feels unchanged. Mrs. Alvarez uses her walker to the base, rides up, and picks up a second walker at the top.

Bennett Valley hillside — outdoor rail on wooden deck entry stairs

Bennett Valley, CA Installed December 2025

A hillside home in Bennett Valley where the main entry is accessed from a deck via an exterior wooden staircase — 12 steps from the driveway to the front door, fully exposed to Sonoma County's wet winters and dry fire-season heat. Mr. Torres is a veteran whose HISA grant covered most of the cost. We installed a cream-colored outdoor seat on a UV-coated rail with sealed brackets and an IP55-rated motor housing, added stainless mounting hardware rated for the wet climate, and fitted leaf guards for the surrounding oaks. Natural daylight floods the covered porch entry. The rail survived the entire 2025–2026 wet season without a single service call.

Proctor Terrace bungalow — straight rail on carpeted stairs with slim-profile seat

Proctor Terrace, CA Installed November 2025

A 1958 bungalow in Proctor Terrace with a narrow enclosed stairwell and wall-to-wall carpet over foam padding on every tread. Mrs. Yamamoto's grandson was worried about the carpet — would they need to tear it out? We used our compression-plate mounting system that bolts through carpet and pad into the plywood tread below, no ripping required. The brown-upholstered seat matches the carpet tones at the landing area, with tiled floor visible at the base. The slim-profile seat folds flat against the wall, leaving enough clear walkway for other household members to pass comfortably. Battery backup handled two PSPS events without losing a ride.

Platform Lift

McDonald Victorian — indoor wheelchair platform lift between floors

McDonald, CA Installed October 2025

A 1905 Victorian in the McDonald neighborhood where the original narrow staircase made a seated stairlift impractical for a full-time wheelchair user. Mr. Washington sustained a spinal cord injury and uses a power chair — he needed to ride his chair between the ground-floor living area and the upstairs bedroom without transferring. We installed an indoor inclined platform lift with a flat black anti-slip platform and high-visibility yellow safety edges around the full perimeter, automatic fold-down ramps at both levels, and a keyed call station. The orange-toned walls and window in the stairway provide natural light. The platform rises in about 15 seconds and Mr. Washington rolls straight into the upstairs hallway. The Sonoma County Veterans Services Office helped coordinate his benefits paperwork.

Common Questions

Everything Santa Rosa Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Sonoma County right now?

Straight rails in standard Santa Rosa homes — the 1960s ranches in Rincon Valley, the tract homes in Skyhawk, the split-levels across the southeast side — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you'll need for most Bennett Valley hillside homes and older Victorians near Railroad Square, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised decks and porch entries run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Santa Rosa than San Francisco or the East Bay?

Equipment prices are uniform across Northern California — we don't inflate quotes for North Bay zip codes. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: hillside access in Bennett Valley, preserving original fir banisters in McDonald Victorians, and occasional electrical upgrades in pre-1960 ranches. We tell you the line items upfront.

Does wildfire rebuilding insurance cover a stairlift?

Not directly. Fire rebuild insurance covers the structure — it doesn't typically extend to post-reconstruction accessibility equipment like stairlifts. For Fountaingrove and Coffey Park rebuilds, the primary funding paths are the Medi-Cal HCBA waiver and the VA HISA grant. We walk you through both during the free assessment.

Is it cheaper to move than to install a stairlift?

In Sonoma County, a single-story home averages well over $700,000. A straight stairlift starts at $2,800. Even a curved rail at $15,000 is a fraction of the cost of a new house — before you factor in moving costs, Prop 13 property tax reassessment, and the emotional cost of leaving a home your family has lived in for decades. The stairlift keeps you in the house you already own.

A word from Luis

Most Santa Rosa families call me after something has already happened — a fall on the split-level stairs in a 1960s Rincon Valley ranch, a father in Bennett Valley who stopped going upstairs three months ago after a hip replacement at Providence Santa Rosa Memorial, a daughter in Portland watching her mother grip the banister tighter on every video call.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
