Stairlift Service Across Napa County

Napa County, CA

The Fuller Park and Napa Abajo historic districts hold the highest concentration of preservation-sensitive staircases in the city — 1870s-through-1920s Queen Anne and Craftsman homes with original redwood banisters and fir treads. We bolt the rail into treads only, never into the banister. Browns Valley, two miles west of downtown, is Napa’s split-level belt — three-to-five-bedroom ranches built after 1960, many with a mid-landing 90° turn requiring a curved rail. Westwood, east of Highway 29, is 1950s tract housing where standard straight rails install before lunch. Alta Heights above Esther Deaver Park is hillside territory with steeper exterior approaches and outdoor lifts facing direct afternoon sun. Old Town Napa along the river mixes Victorians, post-flood condos, and converted multi-units. Beyond city limits we cover American Canyon, Yountville, and the Sonoma Valley corridor — no travel fees anywhere in Napa County.

Straight

1956 Westwood tract home — straight rail on original fir treads

Westwood, CA Installed March 2026

A 1956 Devitas-built tract home in Westwood with original dark-stained fir treads, a turned oak banister, and a clean 13-tread straight run from the entry hall to the upstairs bedrooms. Mr. Kowalski, 81, had been managing the stairs with a white-knuckle grip on the railing since a knee replacement at Queen of the Valley Medical Center. The rail bolts directly into the fir treads on the right side, the beige seat parks at the bottom landing and folds flat against the wall when not in use, and the battery backup is sized for a PG&E PSPS outage. Three hours on-site, shoes off at the door.

1889 Fuller Park Queen Anne — curved rail past the original redwood banister

Fuller Park, CA Installed February 2026

An 1889 Queen Anne in the Fuller Park Historic District with an original redwood banister and Eastlake detailing on the newel post. Mrs. Sorensen’s daughter drove up from San Francisco for harvest dinner and realized her mother hadn’t been upstairs in four months. We fabricated a curved rail that bends around the half-wall at the upper landing, threading past the turned spindles without touching a single one. The brown-upholstered seat parks at the top floor where she steps off directly onto the hallway. The chandelier above the landing casts warm light on the framed art flanking the stairwell. One ride from the foyer to the bedroom hallway, zero transfers.

Napa Abajo cottage — straight rail in a compact 1920s Craftsman

Napa Abajo, CA Installed January 2026

A 1924 Craftsman cottage in the Napa Abajo historic district with stone-tile treads, a compact stairwell barely 32 inches wide, and a wooden sideboard at the base of the stairs that Mrs. Tanaka refused to move. We specified the slim-profile rail and mounted it on the stone treads with masonry anchors. The brown-upholstered seat parks at the bottom next to the sideboard and its potted plant, folding flat enough to clear the hallway traffic. The cozy traditional interior — low ceilings, warm wood tones, Mediterranean tile — stayed exactly as it was. Three and a half hours on-site.

Alta Heights hillside entry — weather-sealed outdoor lift on stone paving

Alta Heights, CA Installed December 2025

A hillside home above Esther Deaver Park in Alta Heights with 11 exterior steps from the driveway up to the front door, rough natural stone paving underfoot, and direct western sun all afternoon. Mr. Pacheco, a retired vineyard worker, had been entering through the garage for two years to avoid the front steps. We anchored the outdoor rail into the stone paving with stainless fasteners, installed a cream weather-sealed seat rated for the 105°F August afternoons, and added a carpeted outdoor tread at the bottom landing for safe footing. The battery is heat-rated — standard on every Napa Valley outdoor install. The whole consultation was conducted in Spanish.

Browns Valley ranch — straight rail on carpeted stairs to the master bedroom

Browns Valley, CA Installed November 2025

A 1967 ranch in Browns Valley with wall-to-wall carpeted stairs, a small landing halfway up, and brown carpet that had been there since the 1990s remodel. Mrs. Albright, 78, lives alone and the upstairs master bedroom had become off-limits after a hip replacement. We bolted the rail through the carpet and pad into the wooden substructure beneath — no carpet removal needed. The brown-upholstered seat blends with the carpet tones so well that her morning coffee visitor didn’t notice it for three days. The tiled floor at the bottom landing stays clear when the seat folds flat. Four hours on-site.

Platform Lift

American Canyon two-story — indoor wheelchair platform lift for multigenerational household

American Canyon, CA Installed October 2025

A 2001 two-story tract home in American Canyon where Sra. Gutiérrez, 83, uses a power wheelchair after a spinal injury and could not transfer to a seated stairlift. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift on the indoor stairway — a flat black anti-slip platform with bright yellow high-visibility safety edges, white handrails on both sides, and interlocked gates that prevent movement unless fully closed. The warm terracotta-painted walls and natural light from the stairwell window frame the unit. Luis conducted the entire assessment and walkthrough in Spanish, explained every control twice at her request, and left behind the Spanish-language operating manual. She rolled from the first floor to the second floor for the first time in two years.

Common Questions

Everything Napa Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Napa right now?

Straight rails inside a Westwood tract home, a Browns Valley ranch, or a post-2000 American Canyon two-story run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails — common in the Fuller Park and Napa Abajo historic districts, Browns Valley split-levels with a mid-landing turn, and vineyard estate custom staircases along the Silverado Trail — run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact stair geometry. Outdoor lifts for raised Victorians in Old Town and hillside entries in Alta Heights run $4,500 to $8,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes the rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices higher for homes in the Fuller Park or Napa Abajo historic districts?

Equipment prices are identical across every Napa ZIP. We do not inflate quotes for historic district addresses or vineyard estate properties. What varies is labor for unusual site conditions — preserving an 1880s redwood banister in the Fuller Park district, shimming rail brackets on post-earthquake settled treads, fabricating a curved rail for a custom stone staircase on a Silverado Trail estate, or anchoring an outdoor rail into original 1890s brick steps on a raised Victorian porch. Every line item appears on the written quote before you sign.

Do you charge extra for Spanish-language service?

No. Our installer Luis is bilingual and conducts home assessments in Spanish on request at zero surcharge. Every printed quote, consent form, and operating manual is available in Spanish. Napa’s Hispanic community — concentrated in South Napa, along Old Sonoma Road, and through the American Canyon corridor — gets the same language service as every other family we work with. Zero extra.

My home shifted in the 2014 earthquake and the stairs aren't perfectly level anymore. Does that add cost?

Usually no. Post-quake tread unevenness is something we see on roughly one in five Napa installs, especially in the pre-1950 homes closest to the West Napa Fault. We shim the rail brackets during install to compensate for drift up to about 3/4 inch — that’s included in the standard labor, not a line item. If the settlement is more severe than that, we’ll tell you during the free assessment and quote the additional shimming explicitly. Two other companies will tell you to rebuild the stairs first. We don’t.

A word from Luis

Most Napa families call me after a moment on the stairs that changed everything — a slip on the original fir treads of an 1890s Queen Anne in the Fuller Park district, a parent who stopped going upstairs three months after a hip replacement and never mentioned it, a daughter in San Francisco who drove up for harvest dinner and realized her mother hadn’t been on the second floor since July.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, laser-measure the stairs once, and leave you with a written quote honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. CSLB-licensed under C-61/D-34 — verify us at cslb.ca.gov. En español si lo prefiere.
