The workhorse of Millcreek ramblers and walkout basements along the east bench. About half the stairlifts installed in Millcreek are straight rails. Stairlift Service Across Salt Lake County

Salt Lake County, UT

From 1950s ramblers in Canyon Rim — where postwar floor plans meant narrow stairwells and treads settled unevenly after 70 years — to 1970s split-levels in Mount Olympus and Olympus Cove where the landing turn defines install geometry, our team has mapped every staircase pattern in Millcreek. We know which East Millcreek homes along Evergreen Avenue need the altitude-rated motor profile, which Canyon Rim properties still carry original aluminum wiring requiring a new circuit, which Meadowbrook ramblers have walkout basements needing weather-sealed units, and which Millcreek Center condos require HOA notification under Utah’s Condominium Ownership Act.

1954 Canyon Rim rambler — straight rail on original hardwood treads

Canyon Rim, UT Installed February 2026

A 1954 rambler in Canyon Rim with original dark oak stair treads leading down to the basement. Mrs. Ashworth has lived here since 1971 and the basement stairs are the only path to the laundry and guest bedroom where grandchildren sleep. We bolted a straight rail directly into the hardwood treads, color-matched the brackets to the warm oak tone, and positioned the seat at the bottom landing. The home still had original aluminum wiring, so a DOPL-licensed electrician ran a new dedicated copper circuit from the panel before the mount. The folding seat leaves full passage width on the open-tread stairway.

Curved

1968 Olympus Cove split-level — curved rail through 90° landing at 5,100 feet

Olympus Cove, UT Installed March 2026

A 1968 split-level in Olympus Cove at 5,100 feet where the staircase curves 90 degrees at the upper landing before opening onto the hallway. Mrs. Sorensen had stopped going downstairs after a fall in November. We laser-scanned the staircase, fabricated a custom curved rail that bends around the balustrade at the top floor, and installed a swivel-exit seat that deposits her onto the upstairs hallway. The motor controller is calibrated to the altitude-rated cooling profile, and the brackets are shimmed to compensate for 3/8 inch of settling over 58 years on Wasatch alluvial soil. Modern finishes and a chandelier above frame the upper landing cleanly.

1973 Mount Olympus bi-level — compact straight rail beside the hallway cabinet

Mount Olympus, UT Installed January 2026

A 1973 bi-level in Mount Olympus with a compact stairway and a wooden cabinet with potted plants at the base of the stairs. The narrow stairwell — two inches tighter than standard, common in 1970s Utah construction — required a slim-profile straight rail and narrow-footprint seat. We mounted the rail on the stone-tiled treads, positioned the seat so it folds flat beside the sideboard without blocking passage, and the cozy traditional interior stayed exactly as the family wanted it. Mr. Jensen’s daughter in Portland joined the assessment on FaceTime and approved the quote the same afternoon.

East Millcreek raised entry — outdoor lift on stone-paved front porch steps

East Millcreek, UT Installed November 2025

A 1958 home on the east bench with a raised front entry and rough natural stone paving at the walkway. The seven exterior steps ice over November through March and bake in direct Wasatch sun June through September. Mr. Whitehead is a retired Hill Air Force Base civilian who qualified for the HISA grant through the George E. Wahlen VA Medical Center. We mounted a weather-sealed outdoor rail along the stone-paved porch steps with a cream-colored UV-resistant seat, temperature-swing gasket kit, and altitude-rated motor controller. He rides from the stone walkway to the covered front porch and steps off at the door.

Meadowbrook rambler — straight rail on carpeted stairs to lower-level workshop

Meadowbrook, UT Installed December 2025

A 1965 rambler in Meadowbrook with carpeted stair treads and a tiled landing at the bottom leading to the lower-level family room and workshop. Mr. Clark is 81, lives alone, and was not about to give up his workshop in the basement. The brown-upholstered seat blends with the carpet tones on the treads, and the rail runs straight from the landing to the upper hallway. We measured Wednesday, installed Friday morning, and he was back in the workshop by noon. Three hours start to finish.

Platform Lift

Millcreek Center — indoor wheelchair platform lift for post-surgery recovery

Millcreek Center, UT Installed October 2025

A 1980s ranch near 3300 South where Mrs. Rasmussen uses a wheelchair after knee surgery at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray and cannot transfer to a seated stairlift. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift on the indoor stairway — a flat black anti-slip platform with high-visibility yellow safety edges and white handrails. She rolls her wheelchair onto the platform, the safety arms close, and the lift carries her between floors. The orange-toned walls and natural light from the stairway window frame the unit cleanly. Installed Monday, she came home Wednesday.

Common Questions

Everything Millcreek Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Millcreek right now?

Straight rails in standard Millcreek homes — 1950s ramblers in Canyon Rim, newer builds near Millcreek Center, single-run basements in Meadowbrook — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for 1960s and 1970s split-levels in Olympus Cove and Mount Olympus where the landing turn makes a straight run impossible cost $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor weather-sealed models for raised entries and walkout patio stairs run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, altitude-rated motor controller, and first service visit.

Are prices different in Millcreek than Salt Lake City or Park City?

Equipment prices are the same across Utah — we don’t inflate quotes based on zip code or neighborhood. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: running a new dedicated circuit in a 1950s Canyon Rim home with original aluminum wiring, fabricating a curved rail for an Olympus Cove split-level with a tight landing turn, or compensating rail mounts for foundation-settled treads in older East Millcreek homes. Every line item is disclosed upfront. No surprise premiums.

Does the New Choices Waiver cover a stairlift?

Yes. Utah’s New Choices Medicaid HCBS Waiver covers stairlifts as environmental accessibility adaptations when documented in an individualized care plan. Requirements: age 65+ or physical disability, financial eligibility for Utah Medicaid, and currently residing in or at risk of nursing facility placement. Call 1-800-662-9651 to start the process. We are an enrolled Utah Medicaid provider — your case manager names us as chosen vendor, and we handle authorization paperwork from there.

Any hidden fees for condo or HOA installs?

Our quote includes all HOA paperwork we handle. Utah’s Condominium Ownership Act and the federal Fair Housing Act require HOAs to approve reasonable accessibility modifications for residents with documented medical needs. We’ve worked with condo associations along 3300 South in Millcreek Center, townhome communities in Meadowbrook, and HOAs across Salt Lake Valley. The FHA documentation packet is provided at no extra cost.

A word from Luis

Most Millcreek families call me after the same conversation — a parent who hasn’t been downstairs to the family room since winter, a slip on the split-level stairs in a 1960s Canyon Rim ranch, a son in Denver who just found out his mother has been sleeping on the main-floor couch because the bedroom stairs are too steep after her hip replacement.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that’s honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells.
