Late-1800s Historic District cottage — straight rail on original hardwood treads

Roswell Historic District, GA Installed March 2026

A late-1800s cottage on Mimosa Boulevard in the Roswell Historic District with original hardwood treads, a narrow 28-inch stairwell, and a hand-turned oak banister. Two other companies said the width wouldn't work. We specified a slim-profile track that clears the original banister by three inches and mounts directly into the treads without touching a spindle. Mrs. Broadwell, age 84, slept in her own bed that night for the first time since January. The stairwell looks no different from below.

1978 Martin's Landing split-level — single curved rail past mid-landing turn

Martin's Landing, GA Installed February 2026

A 1978 split-level in Martin's Landing — six steps from the foyer to the main living level, a mid-landing with a 90-degree turn, then eight more steps to the bedrooms. Other installers quoted two separate lifts with a seat transfer at the landing. We laser-scanned the full geometry on the first visit, fabricated a single curved rail that carries the Eckerts from the foyer to the upper hallway in one continuous ride, and added a powered swivel-exit seat at the top. Red-clay foundation settlement had shifted the treads about a quarter-inch over 48 years — we shimmed the rail brackets to compensate.

1986 Horseshoe Bend Tudor — straight rail on plush carpet with masonry anchors

Horseshoe Bend, GA Installed January 2026

A 1986 Tudor-style home in Horseshoe Bend with a formal foyer staircase, a stucco-and-stone accent wall, and a plush carpet runner. Mr. Tanner, age 81, had stopped going upstairs six months ago. The rail mounts on the right side against the stone wall using masonry-rated anchors. The folded chair tucks flat against the wall at the bottom, leaving the foyer traffic pattern intact. His wife said it was the first time she'd seen him smile about the stairs in six months.

Rivermont raised entry — outdoor rail over stone paving for a Vietnam-era veteran

Rivermont, GA Installed December 2025

A Rivermont home along the Chattahoochee with a raised front entry — seven exterior steps over stone paving. Mr. Dawson is a Vietnam-era veteran who qualified for a HISA grant through the Atlanta VA Health Care System, covering the full installation cost. We anchored the rail into the stone with stainless-steel hardware, sealed the motor housing to IP55, and UV-coated the rail for Georgia's long summers. Mr. Dawson told us the hardest part of the whole process was picking up the phone.

1990s Azalea Park traditional — straight rail on carpeted treads, two-day turnaround

Azalea Park, GA Installed November 2025

A 1990s traditional in Azalea Park with a standard 13-step carpeted staircase and wide treads — the most common layout in Roswell's swim-and-tennis communities. Mrs. Patel's son called from New Jersey after her neighbor told him the truth about her struggles on the stairs. We measured on Tuesday and installed on Thursday. The rail bolts through the carpet into the stair treads, the carpet stays intact around the brackets. Her son said she called him that night from her bedroom for the first time in weeks.

Platform Lift

Crabapple garage entry — wheelchair platform lift for power chair access

Crabapple, GA Installed October 2025

A Crabapple home with a four-step rise from the garage entry to the main living floor. Mr. Whitfield uses a power wheelchair after a stroke, and the daily transfer over those steps had become a twice-daily ordeal for the whole family. We installed a vertical platform lift with a 36-by-54-inch deck that carries the full power chair from garage level to main floor in under 20 seconds. Yellow pressure-sensitive edges on all moving surfaces stop the lift instantly on contact. The family went through the Georgia EDWP Medicaid waiver and paid nothing out of pocket.

Common Questions

Everything Roswell Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Roswell right now?

Straight rails in standard Roswell homes — the Horseshoe Bend Tudors, Azalea Park traditionals, Historic District cottages — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for Martin's Landing split-levels and Rivermont landing turns run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is custom-fabricated to your exact staircase geometry, which requires a laser scan and one to two weeks of manufacturing. Outdoor lifts for raised front entries run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes equipment, installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Roswell than other North Fulton cities?

Equipment prices are the same across Georgia — we don't inflate quotes for Roswell Historic District or Horseshoe Bend addresses. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: slim-profile track for narrow historic-district stairwells, foundation-settlement shimming for older homes on red clay, and masonry anchors for stone-accent foyers in Horseshoe Bend Tudors. Every line item appears on the written quote so you can compare apples to apples with any other estimate. No surprise premiums, no address-based markups, no North Fulton surcharge.

Does the red-clay foundation settlement affect pricing?

Shimming rail brackets to compensate for foundation settlement is included in the install quote at no extra charge. Most Roswell homes built before 1990 have some degree of tread unevenness from Georgia's red-clay subsoil shifting over decades — the Horseshoe Bend Tudors and Martin's Landing split-levels are the most common examples. We measure for it with a laser during the free assessment and factor the shimming into the rail fabrication specifications. It's a standard part of every North Fulton job, not an upcharge, and it ensures the chair rides perfectly level regardless of the foundation movement underneath.

Is a used or refurbished stairlift worth considering?

For straight staircases, a certified refurbished unit can save 30 to 40 percent off a new install — we carry factory-reconditioned straight rails with new upholstery, new batteries, and a two-year warranty. We replace every battery with our heat-rated spec before resale, because factory batteries fail in Georgia's attic-adjacent stair temperatures within two seasons. For curved rails, refurbished is almost never viable because the rail is custom-built to a specific staircase geometry. Ask during your Roswell assessment — we'll tell you honestly whether a refurbished unit makes sense for your staircase or whether new is the only realistic option.

A word from Luis

Roswell calls follow a pattern I've learned over 15 years — a grown child in Alpharetta or Sandy Springs worried about a parent alone in a Martin's Landing split-level with 14 steps to the bedrooms, or a couple in Horseshoe Bend who built the house in 1986 and never planned on the second floor becoming a problem at 73. I drive to your door within 24 hours, measure with a laser, and hand you a written price that's honored for 30 days.

No pressure. No upsells. If you qualify for the Georgia EDWP Medicaid waiver or a VA HISA grant through the Atlanta VA, I'll tell you before we talk numbers.
