Stairlift Service Across Nassau County

Nassau County, NY

Rockville Centre's housing stock runs from 1880s farmhouses to mid-century ranches. Old Canterbury and Canterbury Estates north of Lakeview Avenue hold the densest concentration of pre-1940 Colonials and Tudors — narrow treads, steep rises, 36-inch-wide flights. Lakeside Park, built up after 1900 around Lakeside Drive and Broadway, has wider Victorians with gentler pitches but more landings. Maplewood Gardens and Greystone trend toward mid-century splits and ranches with carpeted treads. Park Lane homes usually have room for a straight rail. South of Merrick Road the homes are newer but mostly two-story.

Old Canterbury 1925 Colonial — straight lift on original oak treads

Old Canterbury, NY Installed February 2026

This 1925 Colonial on Berkshire Road had original dark oak treads — 9 inches deep, not today's 11. The straight rail bolted directly to the treads in 3 hours with no wall contact. The homeowner's mother had been sleeping on the first floor for eight months after a hip replacement and was back upstairs the same day.

Common Questions

Everything Rockville Centre Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding, no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

How much does a stairlift cost in Rockville Centre?

A straight stairlift starts at $2,800 installed. Curved lifts begin at $9,000 depending on turns and landings. Outdoor lifts for porches and deck stairs start at $4,000, and heavy-duty units rated to 600 lb start at $5,050. Financing runs $79 monthly. The quote from the assessment is the price you pay.

What affects the price of a curved stairlift in Rockville Centre?

The number of turns is the biggest factor. A single 90-degree turn costs less than continuous curves with intermediate landings — common in the larger Victorians and Tudors near the Village Green and Old Canterbury. Rail length, powered hinges crossing doorways, and custom brackets for older treads all affect the final cost.

Does Medicare cover stairlift costs in Rockville Centre?

No. Original Medicare classifies stairlifts as home modifications, not durable medical equipment. Some Medicare Advantage plans offer partial reimbursement, but it varies. Reliable funding in New York includes VA HISA grants ($6,800 for service-connected veterans), the NHTD Medicaid waiver, and NY Access to Home.

Are there any hidden fees with a Rockville Centre stairlift install?

None. The price includes the lift, rail, installation labor, battery backup, and first-year service. No weekend surcharges and no historic-district fees. Custom powder-coat colors are an optional add-on, and in-home assessments are free.

A word from Luis

Rockville Centre homes have a specific kind of staircase that comes up again and again — narrow, steep, original to the house. In Old Canterbury and Canterbury Estates north of Lakeview Avenue you're looking at Colonials and Tudors from the 1910s and 1920s. The treads are often 9 inches deep instead of today's 11. A straight rail bolts right onto those old oak treads — no wall work, no drywall repair. Three hours and your mom is using her upstairs bathroom again.

For the curved installs, which I do a lot of in the larger Victorians near St. Agnes Cathedral and the Village Green, we come out with a laser rig and measure every turn. The rail ships from the factory bent to those exact angles. I've put curved rails into RVC homes with five separate landings — it works fine, it just costs more.

Closer to Hempstead Lake or the water, South Shore salt air is a factor, so outdoor lifts need IP55 marine-grade sealing. If your dad's a veteran, the East Meadow VA Clinic on Hempstead Turnpike handles the HISA paperwork, and I've walked plenty of families through it. Call me for a free assessment and I'll tell you which funding route fits.

Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Rockville Centre homes present specific staircase challenges — narrow, steep, often original to the house. In Old Canterbury and Canterbury Estates north of Lakeview Avenue, Colonials and Tudors from the 1910s and 1920s predominate, with treads measuring 9 inches deep instead of the modern 11-inch standard. Straight rails bolt directly to those original oak treads without wall work or drywall repair, usually in about three hours.

For curved installs in the larger Victorians near St. Agnes Cathedral, and for outdoor lifts near Hempstead Lake where South Shore salt air corrodes standard hardware, we use laser measurement and IP55 marine-grade sealing. Every visit starts with a free in-home assessment. Call (800) 965-0350 and we'll tell you whether the VA HISA grant or the NHTD waiver fits your situation.
