Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Nassau County

Nassau County, NY

East Rockaway is a mile-and-a-half-square village, but the housing stock varies more than people expect. Bay Park has 1940s two-story colonials on the water — salt-air corrosion drives our outdoor rail specs. Waverly Park (near the Hewlett border) is full of prewar bungalows with 28-inch tread widths, so we run compact seat pans there. Centre Avenue commuter homes by the LIRR station tend to have tall narrow straight flights to attic bedrooms. Ocean Avenue houses near the main station have basement flights that flooded during the 2024 nor'easter. Main Street village homes are our most common straight-rail installs on standard oak. Atlantic Avenue tilts toward two-family homes with second-floor rental units where the landlord pays for a platform lift in the common entry.

Ocean Avenue — outdoor lift with marine-grade hardware

Ocean Avenue, NY Installed November 2025

Seven concrete porch steps on the bay side of Ocean Avenue, rough stone paving at the base. Common entry vestibule of a two-family home on Atlantic Avenue. Flat black platform with yellow safety edges and white handrail — spec'd for a wheelchair user, not a seated rider, rated to 600 lb. Common Questions

Everything East Rockaway Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in East Rockaway?

Straight rails start at $2,800 installed — that covers a standard 13-foot run like most Main Street village colonials. Curved rails for Bay Park colonials with a landing turn start at $9,000 because the rail is custom-bent to your exact stringer in the factory. Outdoor units with marine-grade stainless hardware start at $4,000 along the waterfront.

Is financing available for East Rockaway homeowners?

Yes. We offer payment plans from $79 per month with approved credit, typically structured as 36- or 60-month terms. Most East Rockaway customers choose the 60-month plan so the monthly payment sits alongside Nassau County property taxes without strain. There is no early-payoff penalty.

Does Medicare cover a stairlift in East Rockaway?

No. Original Medicare Parts A and B classify stairlifts as home modifications, not durable medical equipment, so they are excluded. Some Medicare Advantage plans sold on Long Island include a home-modification allowance of $500 to $1,500 per year. Check your plan's Supplemental Benefits summary under 'Home Modification Benefit' before ordering — the benefit must be pre-authorized.

Why do outdoor stairlifts cost more near Bay Park?

Houses within a half mile of Hewlett Bay need marine-grade stainless fasteners and the IP55-rated sealed motor housing. Standard zinc hardware corrodes within two nor'easter seasons in salt air — we have pulled enough rusted carriage assemblies to know the difference. The marine upgrade adds about $400-600 over a standard outdoor unit and roughly doubles service life.

A word from Luis

Bay Park homes sit close enough to Hewlett Bay that every piece of exterior hardware corrodes faster than the manual suggests. I spec marine-grade stainless on outdoor rails here, not zinc-plated — I have replaced enough rusted carriages to know the difference. The old Waverly Park bungalows around the Hewlett-East Rockaway Jewish Center have 28-inch tread widths — tighter than almost anywhere else in Nassau. On those staircases I size down to the compact seat pan and fold the armrest flat so two people can still pass.

After a nor'easter last March I fielded eleven calls from Centre Avenue commuter homes where the basement flight had flooded and the rail needed re-leveling. A Waverly Place homeowner called at 7am; her 1933 bungalow had four inches of water at the stair base — we pulled the motor housing, dried the track channel, and remounted the drive unit at the top of the flight so the next surge would not reach it. Salt air and storm surge are the real variables on this side of the island, and the rail spec has to account for both before the first bolt goes in.

— Luis Ramírez, East Rockaway
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

East Rockaway is small enough that we know which staircases in which blocks need which rail. A bungalow on Waverly Place is not a colonial on Bay Drive, and the rail spec has to reflect that — starting with tread width, not brochure photos. Families using the NHTD Medicaid waiver apply through Nassau County Department of Social Services; veterans apply for the $6,800 HISA grant through Northport VA Medical Center on Middleville Road.

Call Luis to book an in-home measure — no charge for the assessment. Straight rails are usually installed within ten days of the deposit; curved rails take three to four weeks because the rail is factory-bent to your exact stringer.
