A single straight run, the rail bolts to your stair treads (never into the wall), the seat and footrest fold up out of the way, and the battery backup keeps you moving through the next winter windstorm outage. Most Fairwood two-stories and Kennydale ramblers install in under four hours.

Stairlift Service Across King County

King County, WA

King County, WA — From the lakefront homes of Kennydale along Lake Washington's southern shore, where 1950s ramblers sit on steep lots with 15-step climbs from street to front door, to the panoramic hilltop houses of Renton Highlands with their Cascade and Rainier views, our team has measured staircases in every Renton neighborhood. We know which Talbot Hill homes from the 1920s have steep narrow stairs with uneven risers from a century of settling, which Benson Hill split-levels have the mid-landing turn that only fits a curved rail, and which Fairwood subdivisions around the golf course have wide modern stairs that install in three hours. Because we cover all of south King County from our I-405/Highway 167 crossroads, we also staff dedicated visits for Newcastle, Tukwila, Bryn Mawr-Skyway, and Maple Heights — no waiting on a tech driving down from north Seattle.

1958 Kennydale rambler — straight rail on original hardwood stairs

Kennydale, WA Installed March 2026

A 1958 rambler in Kennydale two blocks from Lake Washington — the kind of home Boeing engineers bought when the 737 plant first opened. Original hardwood treads on the stairs to the daylight basement, a finished family room downstairs, and Mrs. Tanaka hadn't been down there since her hip replacement at Valley Medical Center three months earlier. Her son called from Bellevue on a Tuesday, Luis measured on Wednesday, and we installed on Friday. The rail finish matches the original maple tone, the chair parks flush against the wall at the top landing, and Mrs. Tanaka rode down to see her grandchildren's playroom that same weekend.

90° landing turn in a 1967 Renton Highlands split-level

Renton Highlands, WA Installed February 2026

A 1967 split-level in Renton Highlands with the panoramic Cascade view that sold the Caldwells on the house 40 years ago — and the mid-landing staircase that nearly made them sell it last year. Seven steps from the entry to the living level, a 90-degree turn at the landing, then nine more steps to the bedrooms. We laser-scanned the staircase, fabricated a single curved rail that carries them from the front door to the bedroom hallway in one continuous ride, and installed a swivel-exit seat at the top. Mrs. Caldwell said the view from their bedroom window is worth every dollar they spent to keep reaching it.

1920s Talbot Hill cottage — straight rail past century-old millwork

Talbot Hill, WA Installed January 2026

A 1924 cottage on Talbot Hill where the original fir staircase has been climbed by four generations of the same family. The risers had settled unevenly — a quarter-inch here, three-eighths there — over a century of Pacific Northwest rain soaking into the hillside foundation. Mrs. Orozco's daughter drove up from Tacoma every morning to help her mother up the stairs. We shimmed the rail brackets to compensate for the uneven risers, bolted the track into the fir treads without touching the original newel post or spindles, and conducted the entire walkthrough in Spanish at Mrs. Orozco's request. Her daughter hasn't made that morning drive since January.

Kennydale hillside entry — outdoor rail on stone-paved steps from the street

Kennydale, WA Installed December 2025

A 1962 lakeside home in Kennydale where the lot drops sharply from the street — eleven stone-paved steps from the sidewalk down to the front porch, slick with moss and rain for eight months of the year. Mr. Bergstrom is a retired Navy veteran who qualifies for HISA through the VA Puget Sound system. We prefilled VA Form 10-0103, the prescription came from the Renton VA Clinic within three weeks, and installation was authorized the same month. The outdoor rail is marine-grade coated against the persistent King County moisture, the motor housing carries an IP55 weather seal, and we added a moss-guard channel cover on the rail track because Kennydale's tree canopy drops organic debris year-round.

Fairwood two-story — straight rail on carpeted stairs, three-hour install

Fairwood, WA Installed November 2025

A 1998 two-story near the Fairwood Golf and Country Club — wide stairs, level treads, wall-to-wall carpet, modern construction. The kind of install that goes fast. Mr. Pham had knee replacement surgery scheduled at Valley Medical Center for the following month and wanted the lift working before he came home from the hospital. We measured on Monday, installed on Wednesday, and he rode it from the front door to his upstairs bedroom twelve days later without ever bearing weight on the stairs. The carpet wasn't creased. His daughter said it was the first time the family wasn't arguing about whether he should move to a single-story.

Platform Lift

Benson Hill home — indoor inclined wheelchair platform lift with yellow safety edges

Benson Hill, WA Installed October 2025

A 1985 home in Benson Hill where Mr. Washington uses a power wheelchair full-time after a stroke two years ago. A seated stairlift was not an option — he needed to ride his chair onto a platform and travel between floors without transferring. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift along the indoor stairway — a flat black anti-slip deck with bright yellow high-visibility safety edges on the perimeter, white handrails, and interlocked gates at top and bottom. The platform travels along the stair angle on a rail system, carrying Mr. Washington and his chair from the main floor to the lower level. His occupational therapist at Valley Medical Center wrote the medical necessity letter for the insurance claim.

Common Questions

Everything Renton Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Renton right now?

Straight rails in standard Renton homes — a Fairwood two-story, a Renton Highlands split-level, a Kennydale rambler — run $2,900 to $5,600 installed. Curved rails, which you'll need for most 1960s and 1970s Benson Hill and Renton Highlands split-levels with a mid-landing turn, run $9,000 to $15,200 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for steep hillside entries in Kennydale and Talbot Hill run $4,200 to $7,800 with marine-grade rail coating standard. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are Renton prices different from Seattle or Bellevue?

Equipment prices are identical across King County — we don't inflate quotes for a Kennydale lakefront address or a Newcastle hilltop home. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: long outdoor hillside runs from street to front door on steep Kennydale lots, L&I electrical permit pulls when a pre-1960 home needs a dedicated 120V circuit, or compensating rail mounts for settled treads in older downtown Renton houses. We list the line items upfront. No surprise premiums.

Do you charge extra for a bilingual consultation?

No. Every Renton assessment can be conducted in Spanish at your request — Luis is bilingual and has handled consultations across south King County for years. Every printed quote, consent form, and operating manual is also available in Spanish. For Vietnamese, Chinese, and other languages common in south King County, we bring in a phone interpreter at our cost — never yours. Zero surcharge.

Is there a premium for homes that need two stairlifts?

Two straight rails in a three-level Renton home typically run $5,200 to $9,800 total installed. We measure both stair runs on the first visit and quote them together. If one run is straight and the other curved — common in Renton Highlands split-levels with a walkout basement — we price each rail separately so you can stage the purchase if budget is tight.

A word from Luis

Most Renton families call me after a close call on the stairs — a slip on the carpeted steps in a Renton Highlands split-level, a parent who hasn't been upstairs in weeks after a knee replacement at Valley Medical Center, a daughter in Portland worried about her mother alone in the Kennydale house she's owned since 1982.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
