Straight Stairlift — Redlands, CA

Straight Stairlift

The workhorse of Redlands homes — from North Redlands ranches to university-area two-stories.

Over 70% of the stairlifts we install across Redlands are this model. A single straight run, the rail bolts to your stair treads (never into the wall), the seat and footrest fold up out of the way, and the battery backup keeps you moving through the next power outage. North Redlands ranch installs wrap in under three hours; historic homes in the Smiley Park district take closer to four with extra care around original millwork.

Starting at $3,150 installed

What's Included

  • Battery backup for power outages
  • Swivel seat with safety lock
  • Two wireless remote controls

Downtown Craftsman bungalow — rail finish-matched to 1912 dark oak treads

Downtown Redlands, CA Installed January 2026

A 1912 Craftsman bungalow on Cajon Street with original dark oak treads that the homeowner had maintained for over three decades. Mrs. Cunningham was clear that the rail had to blend with the existing wood grain — anything that looked medical was out of the question. We spec'd the slim-profile rail, matched the finish to the original dark oak, and mounted it so the chair parks flush against the wall at the bottom landing. Two garden club meetings came and went before anyone mentioned it. Thirteen feet of rail, installed in four hours, and the original oak looks exactly the way it has since 1912.

1897 Smiley Park Queen Anne — curved rail past original fir spindles

Smiley Park, CA Installed March 2026

An 1897 Queen Anne in the Smiley Park Historic District with a staircase that curves at the upper landing, original fir spindles, and a newel post the family considers part of the home's architectural identity. Two other companies told the Whitfields the spindles would need modification. We digitally scanned the staircase on the first visit, fabricated a curved rail that threads past every original spindle without grazing a single one, and installed in a single afternoon. A neighbor from the Redlands Area Historical Society walked through the following week and called it the most careful installation she had seen in any district home.

North Redlands ranch — compact profile on a 1967 carpeted stairwell

North Redlands, CA Installed February 2026

A 1967 ranch-style home in North Redlands with fourteen carpeted treads, a wide stairwell, and a family that needed the lift working before their father's next cardiology appointment at Loma Linda. Their son works at Esri headquarters down the road and coordinated the consultation during a lunch break. We bolted the rail through the carpet and pad into solid lumber, parked the brown seat flush at the bottom, and tested all safety sensors before leaving. The battery backup kept the lift running through a July power outage three months after install — the family found out it worked when they needed it most.

Live Oak Canyon hillside entry — outdoor lift on stone steps with HISA funding

Live Oak Canyon, CA Installed December 2025

A Live Oak Canyon home where the driveway sits six feet below the main entry, connected by ten stone-paved exterior steps with full southern exposure. The Reyes family qualified for a HISA grant through VA Loma Linda — the campus is less than four miles from their front door. We prefilled VA Form 10-0103, the prescription came back in five weeks, and $2,800 of the install was covered by the grant. UV-coated seat, sealed IP55 motor, chemical-set anchors into stone. The lift ran through one full summer of triple-digit Inland Empire days without a single service call.

University-area two-story — three-generation home with swivel-exit seat

South Redlands, CA Installed November 2025

A South Redlands two-story shared by three generations — the grandparents upstairs, the parents on the main floor, and a granddaughter attending the University of Redlands. Thirteen carpeted treads, wide and level, with the grandmother's bedroom and bathroom both on the second floor. We installed a straight rail with a swivel-exit seat at the top landing so she steps off onto the hallway floor instead of the top tread, and a folding footrest so the rest of the family can pass freely on the stairs. Three hours start to finish. The granddaughter walks past it on her way to class every morning.

Platform Lift

South Redlands split-level — indoor wheelchair platform lift between entry and sunken den

South Redlands, CA Installed October 2025

A South Redlands split-level with a four-step drop between the main entry and the sunken den — a floor plan common across 1980s construction in this part of San Bernardino County. Mr. Patterson uses a wheelchair after hip replacement surgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center and the sunken den had been off-limits for months. We installed an indoor wheelchair platform lift with a flat platform, yellow high-visibility safety edges, and automatic gate arms at both levels. He rolls on at entry level, presses one button, and rolls off into the den. His surgeon cleared the setup, and the walking boot came off eight weeks later — but the lift stayed because the ride is smoother than the climb.

Common Questions

Everything Redlands Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Redlands right now?

Straight rails in standard Redlands homes — a North Redlands ranch, a South Redlands two-story near the university, a State Street Village newer build — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, common in Smiley Park Victorians and downtown Craftsman bungalows with landing turns, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is custom-fabricated to your staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised entries in Live Oak Canyon and hillside properties run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Redlands than in San Bernardino or Riverside?

Equipment prices are identical across the Inland Empire — we don't inflate quotes for Smiley Park historic addresses or Live Oak Canyon hillside homes. What can vary slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: extra care on century-old treads in the historic district, heat-rated lubricant specs for outdoor installs, and chemical-set anchors for stone porch steps in the canyon. We itemize everything upfront. No surprise surcharges.

My home is in the Smiley Park Historic District. Does that affect the price?

Interior installs require zero city review — the rail bolts into existing stair treads and is invisible from the street. Outdoor porch lifts on contributing structures within the designated historic overlay may require a historic review through the City of Redlands, but interior stairlifts do not. We handle the review application at no charge when exterior work is involved. The preservation-conscious approach we take on Smiley Park installs — finish-matching, spindle clearance verification, period-appropriate seat color — is part of how we work, not an extra line item.

Do you charge extra for Spanish-language service?

No. Every Redlands assessment can be conducted in Spanish at your request — Luis handles consultations across San Bernardino County in both languages. Every printed quote, consent form, and operating manual is available in Spanish. Zero surcharge.

A word from Luis

Most Redlands families call me after a near-miss on stairs — a slip on worn treads in a Smiley Park Victorian, a parent who hasn't been upstairs since a hip replacement at Loma Linda, a son driving from Riverside twice a day to check on his mother in a two-story on North Redlands.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells.
