Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Washington County

Washington County, OR

We install stairlifts across Oak Hills and nearby Washington County neighborhoods. In the Oak Hills Historic District — Oregon's first mid-century modern planned community, National Register since 2013 — most homes are late-1960s split-levels and atrium designs where the main staircase runs straight between the living level and the bedroom level. The Wooded Way section has larger 1990s homes with wider treads. Homes near NW Perimeter Drive are mostly original Rummer builds with narrower staircases and half-walls at the upper landing. We also serve Cedar Mill, Bethany, and Forest Heights, where 1980s–2000s construction means varied stair geometry — some straight, some with a single 90° turn at the landing.

1967 Rummer Split-Level on Perimeter Drive

Oak Hills Historic District, OR Installed March 2026

The Chens' 1967 Rummer split-level on Perimeter Drive has those original narrow oak treads — 10 steps from living room to bedroom hallway. Mrs. Chen's knee replacement made those steps a problem. We ran a straight rail on the right side, bolted to the treads in about 3 hours. The cream seat parks at the bottom, out of the living room's sightline when not in use.

1995 Colonial with 90° Upper-Landing Turn

NW Wooded Way, OR Installed January 2026

The Patels' 1995 colonial on Wooded Way has a grand foyer with a 90° turn at the upper landing — 14 steps up, then the staircase pivots left around a half-wall beneath a chandelier. A straight rail wouldn't work. We did a 1-hour laser measurement, then installed a custom-bent curved rail. The brown seat parks at the top landing against the half-wall.

Compact 1978 Ranch on Stone Treads

Cedar Mill, OR Installed October 2025

The Morrisons' 1978 ranch in Cedar Mill has a compact staircase — 11 stone-tread steps from the front entry up to the main living area. The stairwell is tight, with a wooden sideboard at the base. We installed a straight rail on the left wall, brown seat tucking in beside the sideboard when parked. The stone treads meant careful bolt placement, but the install still wrapped in about 3.5 hours.

Outdoor

Flagstone Entry Porch with IP55 Outdoor Rail

Forest Heights, OR Installed November 2025

The Kowalskis' Forest Heights home has a flagstone entry porch with 8 steps up from the driveway — the main way into the house. Mr. Kowalski's COPD made those outdoor steps a daily struggle, especially in Portland's wet winters. We installed an IP55 weather-sealed outdoor straight rail, cream seat, marine-grade covers on all electrical connections. It's been through two rainy seasons now without any issues.

2004 Two-Story on Carpeted Stairs

Bethany, OR Installed February 2026

The Nguyens' 2004 two-story on a Bethany cul-de-sac has 13 carpeted steps in a straight run from the tiled foyer. Mrs. Nguyen picked the brown upholstery to match the stair carpet — you barely notice the rail when the seat's parked upstairs. Took just under 3 hours. The carpet and pad meant we used longer bolts to anchor through to the subfloor treads.

Inclined Wheelchair Platform in Split-Level

Somerset West, OR Installed August 2025

The Davies family in Somerset West needed a solution for their son, who uses a wheelchair full-time. Their split-level has 9 stairs from the garage entry to the main floor. We installed an inclined platform lift — black flat deck rated for 600 pounds, yellow safety edges, white handrail along the carriage. The platform folds up when not in use so the stairs stay walkable for everyone else.

Common Questions

Everything Oak Hills Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a straight stairlift cost in Oak Hills?

A straight stairlift in Oak Hills starts at $2,800 installed. Most mid-century split-level homes here have 10 to 13 straight steps between floors, so the rail is a single factory-cut length. The price includes the seat, rail, mounting brackets bolted to the treads, battery backup, and labor. If your staircase is wider or you want an upgraded seat upholstery, the price adjusts slightly. We quote a firm number at the free in-home assessment — no surprise fees.

How much is a curved stairlift for an Oak Hills home with a landing turn?

Curved stairlifts start at $9,000 in Oak Hills. The price depends on the number of turns and total rail length. We do a 1-hour laser measurement on site to capture the exact geometry of your staircase — every degree of turn, every rise and run. The rail is custom-bent at the factory and typically ships in 7–10 business days. Homes in the Wooded Way and Bethany sections with L-shaped or U-shaped staircases usually fall in the $9,000–$11,500 range installed.

Do you offer financing for stairlifts in Washington County?

Yes. Financing starts at $79 a month. We work with third-party lenders who offer 0% APR introductory terms on approved credit. The application takes about 10 minutes, and you'll have an answer before the assessment is over. For veterans, we also process HISA grant applications — up to $6,800 for service-connected disabilities — so you may not need to finance at all.

Are there any Washington County or Oregon programs that help pay for a stairlift?

Several. Oregon's K Plan (1915(k) Community First Choice) through Medicaid covers home modifications including stairlifts, with a $5,000 cap per modification per plan year. Washington County's Disability, Aging and Veteran Services office (ADRC, 855-673-2372) can help you determine eligibility. For veterans, the HISA grant covers up to $6,800 for service-connected disabilities and $2,000 for non-service-connected. The Northwest Access Fund also offers low-interest loans for accessibility equipment.

A word from Luis

I've installed stairlifts in about 40 Oak Hills homes over the years — the Rummer builds on Perimeter Drive, the colonials on Wooded Way, the newer places in Bethany and Cedar Mill. The one thing every homeowner tells me after the install is the same: 'I wish we'd done this two years ago.'

The mid-century split-levels here are actually easier to fit than people think. The staircase is almost always straight, and the treads are solid fir or oak — great anchoring. Most installs are done before lunch.

If you're on the fence, let me come measure. No charge for the assessment. I'll tell you honestly whether a stairlift makes sense for your stairs and your budget.

— Luis Ramírez, Oak Hills
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Oak Hills was Oregon's first planned community — laid out in the late 1960s with split-levels and atrium homes that are beautiful to live in but tough to age in. If you or a family member are avoiding the stairs, a stairlift changes the math. One morning of installation, and the upstairs becomes part of the daily routine again.

Call us at the number above or fill out the form for a free in-home assessment. Luis measures your stairs, quotes a firm price on the spot, and can usually schedule the install within two weeks. No hard sell, no pressure — just a straight answer about what your stairs need.
