Straight Stairlift — Tigard, OR

Straight Stairlift

The go-to solution for Tigard's Bull Mountain two-stories, Summerlake colonials, and Scholls Ferry split-levels.

The majority of stairlifts we install in Tigard are straight-rail models — and in the Willamette Valley, every one ships with an IP54-sealed motor housing and anti-mold gaskets as standard spec, not an upgrade. This market gets 40+ inches of rain annually; a factory-default motor ventilation plate starts growing mildew within a few years in this humidity. The rail bolts into your stair treads, the seat folds up out of the way, and the battery backup keeps running through a power outage.

Starting at $3,200 installed

What's Included

  • Battery backup for power outages
  • Swivel seat with safety lock
  • Two wireless remote controls
  • Soft start and soft stop motion
  • Fold-up seat, arms, and footrest
  • 10-year motor & gearbox warranty

Compared to Alternatives

vs Curved: 3x less expensive and installed in one visit. vs Home elevator: 10-15x less cost and no construction. vs Moving bedroom downstairs: Keeps your home exactly as it is.

Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Washington County

Washington County, OR

From the Bull Mountain ridge homes with their view-lot split-levels and tight interior stairwells, to the Summerlake and Woodard Park neighborhoods with their 1980s two-stories, to the newer River Terrace builds where quarter-turn staircases are common — our team has worked across every Tigard neighborhood. We know which Metzger-area homes have the original 1960s hardwood treads that need low-profile rail anchoring, which Scholls Ferry corridor homes have the split-foyer layout, and which Downtown Tigard ranches need an outdoor platform lift instead of a stairlift.

We also serve King City, Durham, Tualatin, and Garden Home-Whitford — all within Washington County, same response time, same pricing.

1970s Bull Mountain two-story — straight rail on original fir treads

Bull Mountain, OR Installed March 2026

A 1972 Bull Mountain two-story with original Douglas fir treads and a narrow 32-inch stairwell. Mr. Patterson had his knee replaced in January and his surgeon flagged the stairs as a fall risk. We fitted a low-profile straight rail without removing the spindles, color-matched the bracket finish to the existing fir, and added a fold-down footrest that clears the low soffit at the top landing. He rides it six times a day and his physical therapist signed off on his home-exercise plan.

Curved

River Terrace two-story — slim-profile curved rail in a modern open foyer

River Terrace, OR Installed February 2026

A 2018 River Terrace home with an open-concept foyer and engineered hardwood treads curving 90° around a half-wall. Mrs. Nakamura wanted the lift to blend with the modern interior, not look clinical. We laser-scanned the curve, fabricated a slim-profile rail in brushed pewter, matched the seat upholstery to the existing stair runner, and positioned the top park point flush against the wall. From the entry you barely notice it.

1984 Scholls Ferry split-level — compact straight rail in a 28-inch stairwell

Scholls Ferry, OR Installed January 2026

A 1984 split-level along the Scholls Ferry corridor with a tight 28-inch-wide stairwell and 12 carpeted treads leading to the lower level. Two other companies declined the job citing the narrow width. We installed a compact-profile straight rail bolted through the carpet into the tread lumber, positioned the folding seat to clear the newel post by half an inch, and added a 90° swivel-exit at the top landing. The Bergstroms walk past the folded seat without brushing it.

Outdoor

Summerlake colonial — weather-sealed outdoor rail on front entry steps

Summerlake, OR Installed December 2025

A 1989 Summerlake colonial with a raised front porch and seven concrete entry steps facing northwest — full exposure to Oregon rain nine months of the year. Mrs. O’Brien had fallen on the wet steps twice in the previous winter. We anchored an outdoor straight rail into the concrete treads, fitted a cream weather-resistant seat with IP55-sealed motor housing, UV-coated all hardware, and installed stainless fasteners rated for Pacific Northwest moisture. The battery backup runs independently during winter power outages. She uses the front door again.

Metzger-area ranch — compact rail on a 1960s original hardwood staircase

Metzger, OR Installed November 2025

A 1962 Metzger ranch with original hardwood treads, a low ceiling at the upper landing, and a stairwell that measured exactly 28 inches wide. Three companies told the Kowalskis their staircase was too narrow. We fitted a compact-profile straight rail with a fold-flat footrest that tucks against the wall, positioned the top park point under the low header with two inches to spare, and bolted through the hardwood into the joist beneath. Installation finished before noon.

Platform Lift

Woodard Park raised entry — outdoor wheelchair platform lift on a 1970s split-entry

Woodard Park, OR Installed October 2025

A 1977 Woodard Park split-entry with seven exterior steps and a wheelchair-bound resident. The northwest-facing entry gets full Oregon rain exposure. We installed an inclined platform lift with a flat black anti-slip deck, yellow high-visibility safety edges, and IP55-rated motor housing. The platform folds against the wall when not in use. Mr. Fitzgerald rolls his power wheelchair onto the deck, presses the call button, and reaches the front door independently. No service calls through the first Oregon rainy season.

Common Questions

Everything Tigard Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Tigard right now?

Straight rails in standard Tigard homes — the 1970s Bull Mountain two-stories, the 1980s Summerlake colonials, and the Metzger-area ranches — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for quarter-turn landings in Scholls Ferry split-levels and sweeping entries in River Terrace homes run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is fabricated to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised entries and concrete front steps run $4,200 to $7,500 with full Oregon weather sealing. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are there any additional costs for homes in Bull Mountain or River Terrace?

Equipment prices are the same across Washington County. What varies is install complexity — a curved rail through a River Terrace open-foyer staircase is more labor-intensive than a straight bolt-on in a Metzger ranch. We detail every line item on the quote. No neighborhood surcharge, no surprise fees.

Does Oregon Medicaid cover stairlifts? What programs exist here?

Yes — Oregon’s K Plan (Community First Choice State Plan) classifies stairlifts as home modifications. The K Plan covers up to $5,000 for home modifications based on medical necessity documented in your care plan. You must be assessed at nursing-facility level of care and enrolled in Oregon Health Plan (OHP). We are a credentialed K Plan provider. Contact Oregon DHS Aging and People with Disabilities at 1-800-282-8096 — once your case manager is assigned, we handle the prior authorization paperwork. Oregon Project Independence also covers a portion for seniors 60+ above Medicaid limits.

Do you offer financing if I don’t qualify for K Plan or OPI?

Yes — three lending partners with 0% APR for qualified buyers and low fixed-rate plans from $79/month. Application is a soft credit pull, takes about four minutes, and approval is usually instant. Many Tigard families combine financing with the IRS medical expense deduction or a partial VA HISA grant to bring the monthly payment down further.

A word from Luis

Most of my Tigard calls come from families in Bull Mountain two-stories or the split-level homes along Scholls Ferry Road — houses built in the 1970s and 1980s when staircase geometry was an afterthought. The layout usually works fine for 30 years, then a knee replacement or a balance issue changes everything.

My job is straightforward: come out within 24 hours, measure the staircase, and hand you a written quote you can take your time deciding on. No pressure. No callbacks from a regional sales office. Just a local installer who knows Washington County.
