Stairlift Service Across Suffolk County

Suffolk County, NY

Middle Island's housing runs the full range—Birchwood at Spring Lake with its gated two-story units and lofted bedrooms where curved rails handle the turns, Coventry Manor split-levels from the 1980s where a straight lift bridges the six-step split between living levels, Artist Lake condos off Middle Country Road with narrow staircases that need 32-inch-fit rails, Strathmore on the Green detached homes near the golf course with full flights to the second floor, and Lake Panamoka cottages near the Pine Barrens edge where compact straight lifts fit the tight stairwells. Off Yaphank-Middle Island Road, the older Capes and Colonials near Cathedral Pines and Prosser Pines have steep, narrow original staircases—common in pre-1970 builds.

Straight

Oak Tread Straight Rail in Coventry Manor Split-Level

Coventry Manor, NY Installed March 2026

The Donovans' Coventry Manor split-level had dark oak hardwood treads and a straight staircase connecting the living area to the bedroom level. After Mrs. Donovan's knee replacement, the six-step rise between the kitchen and the upstairs became a barrier. Luis installed a beige straight rail that bolted directly to the oak treads—no wall brackets, no drywall repair. The seat parks at the bottom landing, out of the living room traffic path.

Curved Rail Around Half-Wall in Birchwood at Spring Lake

Birchwood at Spring Lake, NY Installed February 2026

The Mitchells' Birchwood at Spring Lake two-story unit had a staircase that turned 90 degrees at a half-wall landing before continuing to the lofted bedroom area, with a chandelier hanging above. Mr. Mitchell had been sleeping on the couch downstairs for months. Luis measured the turn with a one-hour laser scan, and the custom-bent curved rail arrived two weeks later.

Stone-Tread Straight Lift in Artist Lake Condo

Artist Lake, NY Installed January 2026

The Russos' Artist Lake condo had stone tile treads and a wooden sideboard at the base of the stairs—a compact cottage-style layout common in the older Middle Country Road units. The narrow staircase had only 33 inches of width. Luis installed a brown-seat straight lift using a tile-safe anchor system that didn't crack the stone. The seat parks beside the sideboard at the bottom, leaving enough room to walk past.

Weather-Sealed Outdoor Lift on Prosser Pines Raised Ranch Porch

Prosser Pines area, NY Installed November 2025

The Kowalskis' raised ranch off Yaphank-Middle Island Road had a rough stone-paved front porch with eight steps—beautiful but lethal in a nor'easter. Mr. Kowalski, 81, had fallen twice the previous winter. Luis installed a cream-colored outdoor lift with IP55 weather sealing and stainless hardware right onto the stone porch.

Carpeted Landing Straight Lift in Lake Panamoka Cape

Lake Panamoka, NY Installed April 2026

The Hendersons' Lake Panamoka Cape Cod had carpeted treads in a warm beige that matched the brown upholstery of the stairlift seat. The stairs led from a tiled entryway up to the second floor. Mrs. Henderson, recovering from spinal surgery, couldn't manage the steep Cape staircase. Luis installed the rail directly onto the carpeted treads—the bolts went through the carpet into the wood beneath.

Platform Lift

Indoor Wheelchair Platform Lift in Strathmore on the Green Colonial

Strathmore on the Green, NY Installed October 2025

The Bennetts' Strathmore on the Green Colonial had a full staircase that Mr. Bennett, who uses a wheelchair after an MVA, couldn't use at all. Luis installed an indoor inclined platform lift with a flat black deck and yellow safety edges running alongside the white handrail. The platform carries Mr. Bennett's wheelchair up to 600 lb and folds up when not in use so the family can still walk the stairs.

Common Questions

Everything Middle Island Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Middle Island NY?

Straight stairlifts start at $2,800 installed. Curved lifts run from $9,000—the price depends on how many turns your staircase has and the total rail length. Outdoor lifts start at $4,000. Heavy-duty models rated for 600 lb start at $5,050. Every quote includes the in-home measurement, the rail, the carriage, installation, and the first year of service calls. No hidden fees—Luis gives you one number after measuring your stairs.

Does Medicare cover stairlifts in Suffolk County?

No. Original Medicare (Parts A and B) does not cover stairlifts—they classify them as home modifications, not durable medical equipment. Some Medicare Advantage plans in Suffolk County offer a home-safety allowance that may contribute $500–$1,000 toward a stairlift, but you need to check your specific plan. The NHTD Medicaid Waiver in New York and the Access to Home state program are the main public funding routes for Middle Island residents.

Is financing available for a stairlift in Middle Island?

Yes—financing starts at $79/month through our third-party partner. Most approvals come back same-day. No prepayment penalty if you pay it off early. For veterans, the HISA grant ($6,800 for service-connected, $2,000 for non-service-connected) covers a straight stairlift outright—no repayment, tax-free, one-time benefit. We help with the paperwork at the in-home assessment.

Are there any local Middle Island discounts or programs?

Beyond the HISA grant for veterans and the NHTD Waiver for Medicaid-eligible residents, New York's Access to Home program provides grants for home accessibility modifications for low- and moderate-income residents with disabilities. This is administered through NYS Homes and Community Renewal. Suffolk County's Office for the Aging can also point you toward local resources. We walk through all the options at the assessment and help you figure out what you actually qualify for.

A word from Luis

Folks moving around Middle Island know Route 25 gets you everywhere, but once you're home, it's the stairs that decide whether you stay. Over in Birchwood at Spring Lake, those two-story units with the lofted bedrooms are beautiful—but when a knee goes, that staircase becomes a wall. We've put curved rails into more than a dozen Birchwood homes. Same story in Coventry Manor: the split-level layouts from the 80s are solid construction, but those six steps between the living room and kitchen turn into a daily risk.

We also see a lot of older Capes and Colonials off Yaphank-Middle Island Road, near Cathedral Pines. Narrow staircases, tight landings—sometimes only 32 inches between the wall and the rail. The straight lifts bolt to the treads there. No wall damage, three hours, done. And for the folks out near Prosser Pines in those raised ranches, an outdoor lift on the porch steps gets them from the driveway to the front door without a slip on the ice. Suffolk County winters aren't Minnesota, but the nor'easters dump enough to make those front steps treacherous.

— Luis Ramírez, Middle Island
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Middle Island's location in central Brookhaven—22 miles from the Northport VA Medical Center on 79 Middleville Road and about 15 miles from the Riverhead VA Clinic on Center Drive—puts veterans within a reasonable drive of both facilities while giving them access to the NHTD Medicaid Waiver for home modifications. Suffolk County has more veterans than any other county in New York State, and the HISA grant ($6,800 for service-connected vets) covers a stairlift outright for most straight-rail installs.

From the gated Birchwood community to the ranches off Yaphank-Middle Island Road, every home has a staircase that eventually needs a plan. Call Luis at (800) 965-0350. He'll drive out, measure the stairs, and give you a number that covers everything—equipment, install, and the first year of service calls. Same-day assessments available for Middle Island, Coram, Ridge, and anywhere in the Longwood school district.
