Stairlift Service Across Montgomery County

Montgomery County, PA

From the grand stone estates of Gladwyne — where Mill Creek Road addresses sit on multi-acre lots with staircases that require curved rails through sweeping foyer turns — to the 1920s stone colonials and Tudors of Bryn Mawr designed by architects like Mellor & Meigs, from the 1950s stone twins of Bala Cynwyd that produce the most predictable straight-rail geometry on the Main Line to the split-level ranches of Penn Valley where the mid-landing turn is the most common curved-rail trigger we see. We know which Merion Station blocks have Colonial Revival houses with original oak banisters that homeowners refuse to let anyone touch, which Wynnewood colonials need a two-stage first-to-third-floor installation, which Ardmore Victorians fall inside the HARB-reviewed historic district, and which Villanova estates need two weeks of custom rail fabrication. We also staff Narberth, Haverford, Radnor, and Wayne without travel fees.

1952 Bala Cynwyd stone twin — straight rail on original dark oak treads

Bala Cynwyd, PA Installed March 2026

A 1952 stone twin on Bryn Mawr Avenue in Bala Cynwyd with 14 dark oak treads in a simple straight run from the front hall to the upper landing. Mrs. Greenberg had been using the stairs on her hands and knees since a fractured pelvis in December. We bolted the beige seat rail directly into the oak treads at the bottom of the staircase, where it parks against the wall next to her husband’s coat rack. The original oak banister is untouched — not a scratch on it. She rode upstairs for the first time in three months the same afternoon.

Gladwyne estate — curved rail around a sweeping Colonial Revival foyer turn

Gladwyne, PA Installed February 2026

A 1928 Colonial Revival estate off Mill Creek Road in Gladwyne with a sweeping walnut staircase that curves through the two-story foyer. The curved rail follows the banister’s arc without touching a single spindle, and the brown-upholstered seat parks at the upper landing where Mrs. Worthington steps off directly onto the hallway floor. The rail threads past the half-wall balustrade and the framed art on the wall, disappearing against the walnut. Her garden club met in the foyer two weeks later and no one noticed until she demonstrated it.

Merion Station colonial — straight rail in a compact entry with original slate treads

Merion Station, PA Installed January 2026

A 1938 stone colonial near the Merion train station with slate stair treads, a narrow entry, and a wooden sideboard at the base of the stairs that had been in the family since the house was built. We drilled through the slate with a masonry bit, sealed every bolt with silicone, and mounted the brown-upholstered seat to park flush next to the sideboard. The compact entry and stone treads give the space a traditional cottage feel. Mr. Patel’s wife still walks the stairs daily without noticing the rail.

Outdoor

Bryn Mawr — outdoor lift on a raised stone front porch

Bryn Mawr, PA Installed December 2025

A 1935 Tudor near Bryn Mawr College with a raised stone front porch and seven exterior steps of natural bluestone pavers. Mr. Sullivan has progressive MS and could no longer manage the front steps. We anchored the outdoor rail into the rough stone paving with stainless expansion bolts and installed a cream weather-resistant seat with UV-stabilized upholstery. Natural daylight floods the covered porch entry from above. The hot-dip galvanized brackets and neoprene isolation washers handle the Delaware Valley’s 62 freeze-thaw cycles per year.

Wynnewood colonial — straight rail on carpeted stairs with a swivel-exit seat

Wynnewood, PA Installed November 2025

A 1955 colonial on a wide Wynnewood block with carpeted stairs and a small landing at the top. Mrs. Kim was recovering from double knee replacement surgery and her daughter drove from Manhattan every weekend for stair duty. We installed a straight rail on the carpeted treads with a brown-upholstered seat that blends with the neutral carpet tones. The seat parks at the landing area where the wall-mounted light switches sit just above the rail line. The tiled hallway floor at the top provides a stable step-off surface with the swivel-exit seat.

Platform Lift

Ardmore Victorian — indoor wheelchair platform lift for a spinal cord injury patient

Ardmore, PA Installed October 2025

A three-story Ardmore Victorian where Mr. Washington is paralyzed from the waist down after a job-site accident and cannot transfer from his wheelchair. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift on the indoor stairway — a flat black anti-slip platform with yellow high-visibility safety edges and a white safety handrail. The orange-toned walls and window on the landing give the stairway natural light. Community HealthChoices through Keystone First covered $6,000 of the cost. Mr. Washington rolls onto the platform, presses one button, and rides to the upper level without ever leaving his chair.

Common Questions

Everything Lower Merion Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Lower Merion right now?

Straight rails in standard Lower Merion homes — the 1950s Bala Cynwyd stone twins, the Wynnewood colonials, the Ardmore Victorians — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for Gladwyne estates with sweeping foyer turns, Penn Valley split-levels with mid-landing 90-degree bends, and three-story Bryn Mawr colonials run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised stone front entries and covered porch steps run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, freeze-thaw-rated hardware, and the first service visit.

Are prices different on the Main Line than in Philadelphia?

Equipment prices are identical across the region — we do not inflate quotes for a Gladwyne or Villanova address. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: custom curved geometries in estate homes with sweeping staircases, HARB submission paperwork for historic resources in designated districts, and the compact-profile rail configuration needed for narrow pre-war stairs in some Merion Station and Ardmore homes. We tell you every line item upfront. No surprise ‘Main Line premiums.’

Will the freeze-thaw hardware add to my cost?

No. Hot-dip galvanized brackets with sealed neoprene isolation washers and 304-stainless fasteners are standard on every Lower Merion install — indoor and outdoor. The Philadelphia metro cycles through 62 freeze-thaw events per year and standard powder-coated hardware fails within five winters. We do not charge extra for the spec that should be baseline in this climate. It is included in the quoted price.

Do you charge extra for Spanish-language service?

No. Every assessment can be conducted in Spanish at your request — Luis is bilingual. Every printed quote, consent form, and operating manual is also available in Spanish. Zero surcharge. Lower Merion’s workforce population along the Lancaster Avenue corridor includes a significant Spanish-speaking community, and we serve them the same way we serve everyone.

A word from Luis

Lower Merion families call me when the stone colonial they’ve lived in for 35 years starts working against them — a slip on the original slate treads in Gladwyne, a parent in Bryn Mawr who hasn’t been upstairs since a hip replacement, a son in New York worried about his mother alone in a three-story Bala Cynwyd twin that was built before anyone imagined aging in place.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that’s honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
