Stairlift Service Across Cass County

Cass County, IN

We install across all of Logansport and Cass County. The Point Historic District — those 1890–1910 Queen Annes and Colonial Revivals along Market and Eel River Avenue — almost always need custom curved rails. Potawatomi Point has newer construction with wider stairs, so straight rails go in fast there. Georgetown, one of Indiana's oldest Black settlements dating to the 1820s, has compact bungalows where the stairwells are tight but manageable. Over in Dunkirk and the west side, the housing stock is mixed — some prewar, some 1960s. Twelve Mile and Lucerne give us the rural installs where outdoor lifts for porch access are common. We also serve Peru, Kokomo, Delphi, Monticello, and Lafayette.

1901 Queen Anne Gets a Straight Rail on Dark Hardwood

Point Historic District, IN Installed March 2026

The Crawfords' Queen Anne on Market Street was built in 1901 — original dark oak treads, steep pitch, narrow stairwell. The bottom landing sits right next to the front parlor entry, so the rail had to park tight against the newel post. Luis measured the tread depth at 9 inches — just enough for the standard carriage bolts. The cream-colored seat at the bottom landing matches the oak stain without looking medical.

Curved Rail at Upper Landing in Potawatomi Point

Potawatomi Point, IN Installed February 2026

The Hendersons' two-story in Potawatomi Point had a staircase that turned 90 degrees at a half-wall landing before continuing to the upper floor. A chandelier hung at the turn, so clearance was tight. Luis brought the laser-measurement rig and mapped the exact curve — the rail arrived in three sections, joined on site, follows the half-wall contour without touching it.

Compact Bungalow in Georgetown with Stone Treads

Georgetown, IN Installed January 2026

The Millers' 1920s bungalow in Georgetown has stone-faced treads — uneven in spots and narrower than modern code. The staircase runs tight between the living room and a wooden sideboard that couldn't be moved. Luis used the slim-rail mount, bolting to the treads at the sturdier points he identified during assessment. The brown seat at the bottom landing parks within a foot of the sideboard with room to walk past.

Outdoor

Outdoor Porch Lift in Twelve Mile

Twelve Mile, IN Installed October 2025

The Thompsons' ranch property outside Twelve Mile has a three-step stone porch entry — rough flagstone, no railing. After a fall last autumn, they called Luis. The outdoor unit uses an IP55-sealed motor, a weather cover over the gear rack, and a heated battery compartment for Cass County winters. The cream seat sits at the porch base, exposed to full daylight but fully weatherproofed. Stainless anchors into the stone treads.

Carpeted Stairs in a Logansport Northwest Split-Level

Logansport Northwest, IN Installed April 2026

The Bakers' 1968 split-level off Michigan Avenue has wall-to-wall beige carpet on the stairs — clean rise, standard tread depth. Luis ran the rail up the right side, bolting through the carpet into the plywood treads below. The brown seat matches the carpet tone and parks at the tiled-floor base landing. Under three hours from arrival to test ride. This is the most common install type in Logansport's postwar subdivisions.

Platform Lift

Indoor Wheelchair Platform Lift in Lucerne Ranch

Lucerne, IN Installed December 2025

The Davis family in Lucerne needed a solution for their son, who uses a wheelchair full-time. Luis spec'd an inclined platform lift with a flat black deck, yellow safety edges, and a white handrail. The platform carries up to 600 lb and folds against the wall when not in use. Five hours — heavier rail, more anchoring points, extra testing on the incline angle. Indoor use only.

Common Questions

Everything Logansport Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Logansport?

A straight stairlift in Logansport starts at $2,800 installed. Curved lifts — common in the Point Historic District and older homes — start at $9,000 because the rail is custom-bent to your staircase. Outdoor models start at $4,000, and heavy-duty units (600 lb capacity) start at $5,050. Every quote includes the site survey, rail fabrication, installation, and a 5-year warranty with lifetime rail coverage. Financing runs $79/month. No hidden add-ons.

Why are curved stairlifts more expensive?

The rail. A straight rail is factory-cut. A curved rail is bent on-site to match your exact staircase — every turn, every landing, every degree of pitch. In Logansport's older homes, especially the Queen Annes in the Point Historic District, staircases often have irregular turns that don't match any standard template. The 1-hour laser measurement and custom fabrication is what drives the cost to $9,000 and up. The result is a rail that hugs your stairs exactly.

Does insurance cover stairlift installation in Cass County?

Medicare typically does not cover stairlifts — they classify them as home modifications, not durable medical equipment. Indiana Medicaid through the PathWays for Aging program (which replaced the old A&D Waiver in July 2024) can cover home modifications including stairlifts for eligible Hoosiers aged 60+. The VA's HISA grant covers up to $6,800 for service-connected veterans. We walk you through the paperwork for any program you qualify for.

Are there any hidden costs with Logansport stairlift installation?

No. Every quote we give in Logansport is a fixed price. It covers the assessment visit, the rail, the carriage, installation labor, cleanup, and a demo so you know how to use it. If your staircase needs additional structural work — rare but possible in very old Cass County homes — we tell you before we start and you approve the change. No surprise bills at the end.

A word from Luis

"Logansport has a housing stock you don't see everywhere in Indiana. The Point Historic District alone has dozens of Queen Annes and Colonial Revivals from the 1890s — beautiful homes, but those staircases were built for 19th-century feet. Narrow treads, steep pitch, no room for a landing chair. I've measured stairs on Market Street and Eel River Avenue where a standard straight rail wouldn't clear the baseboard. That's why I carry a laser measurement kit to every assessment here."

"Out in Potawatomi Point and the newer builds off Michigan Avenue, the geometry is simpler — wider treads, standard rise. But then you get the freeze-thaw cycles. Any outdoor install in Cass County needs to handle a winter where the temperature swings from 10°F to 40°F in the same week. We use weather-sealed rail covers and IP55-rated gear housings, and we run a heated battery compartment so the lift starts cold. It holds up."

— Luis Ramírez, Logansport
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Logansport sits at a river junction that shaped its history — the confluence of the Wabash and Eel Rivers put it on the map, and the Michigan Road kept it connected. Today it's a tight-knit city of about 18,000 where families stay for generations. That means a lot of people are watching parents and grandparents struggle with the same staircases they grew up climbing.

Whether your home is a 1901 Queen Anne on Market Street or a ranch in Lucerne, you can get a quote within 48 hours. We come out, measure, talk through the funding paths that apply, and give you a number you can make a decision on. No follow-up calls. No push. Just the facts.
