Stairlift Service Across Cabell County

Cabell County, WV

From the 1920s colonials and Tudors of Ritter Park — where wide stairways, original hardwood banisters, and formal millwork require careful finish-matching — to the railroad-era bungalows and worker two-stories of Southside and Highlawn, where steep, narrow treads and tight stairwells are the standard, our team has mapped every staircase pattern in Cabell County. We know which Enslow Park homes have the mid-landing turn that requires a curved rail, which Guyandotte pre-Civil War structures have the irregular treads that need a custom rail mount, and which Westmoreland postwar ranches have the raised entry and exterior steps that need cold-weather-rated outdoor hardware.

We also cover Barboursville, Ceredo, Kenova, Lavalette, Pea Ridge, and Lesage with the same 24-hour assessment window and no travel surcharge.

1928 Ritter Park colonial — rail color-matched to original oak banister

Ritter Park, WV Installed March 2026

A 1928 colonial in the Ritter Park Historic District with the original oak banister, hardwood treads, and formal millwork throughout. One competitor told the family they’d need to remove two spindles to fit the rail. We color-matched the rail finish to the existing oak, bolted into the treads with countersunk fasteners, and left every spindle, every piece of trim, and every surface exactly as we found it. The lift blends into the woodwork so well that visitors don’t notice it until Mrs. Adkins presses the button.

90° landing turn in a 1935 Enslow Park Tudor

Enslow Park, WV Installed February 2026

A 1935 Tudor in Enslow Park with a 90-degree landing turn and a leaded glass window at the mid-point. Two other companies told the family they’d need two separate lifts — one for each run. We laser-scanned the full staircase and fabricated a single curved rail that carries Mr. Morrison from the entry to the upstairs bedrooms in one ride. The chair threads past the leaded glass on the landing without coming within six inches. He uses it eight times a day.

Compact rail in a narrow Guyandotte worker’s cottage

Guyandotte, WV Installed January 2026

A cottage in Guyandotte dating to the early 1900s with irregular tread depths, uneven riser heights, and treads that have shifted over a century of settling. The staircase is 31 inches wide. We measured each tread individually and specified a custom rail mount that compensates for every irregularity. The brown-upholstered seat folds to 11 inches. The ride is perfectly smooth — you’d never know the stairs underneath are crooked. Mrs. Henderson’s grandmother uses it daily.

Cold-weather outdoor rail for a raised Westmoreland entry

Westmoreland, WV Installed December 2025

A postwar ranch in Westmoreland with a raised front entry and seven concrete steps that ice over every winter. Mr. Compton is a veteran who lives five minutes from the Hershel ‘Woody’ Williams VA Medical Center on Spring Valley Drive. We hand-delivered the HISA paperwork to the prosthetics department and the grant covered $6,800 of the cost. The cold-weather LiFePO4 battery ran through a week of single-digit nights in January without a hiccup. Every component is galvanized and rated for West Virginia’s freeze-thaw cycles.

Highlawn carpeted stairs — swivel-exit seat for safer top-landing step-off

Highlawn, WV Installed November 2025

A two-story home in Highlawn near Marshall University with carpeted stairs and a standard 36-inch staircase. Mrs. Blevins’s daughter in Charleston arranged the install remotely — the assessment was conducted on FaceTime so she could see every measurement. The swivel-exit seat at the top landing lets Mrs. Blevins step off onto the hallway floor instead of balancing on the top tread. The rail bolts through the carpet into the wooden treads beneath. She had her lift four days after the first call.

Platform Lift

Indoor wheelchair platform for a Southside split-entry bungalow

Southside, WV Installed October 2025

A split-entry bungalow in Southside where Mrs. Walker uses a power wheelchair full-time. A seated stairlift was not an option — she needed to ride her chair between floors. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift along the indoor stairway: a flat black anti-slip platform with yellow high-visibility safety edges, white handrails, and a keyed lockout. The WV Aged and Disabled Waiver covered the full cost through her DHHR case manager. Mrs. Walker rolls in and out of the house independently now — first time in two years.

Common Questions

Everything Huntington Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in the Huntington area right now?

Straight rails in standard Huntington homes — the Southside bungalows, the Highlawn two-stories, the Ritter Park colonials — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for staircases with landings or turns, common in Enslow Park and the older Guyandotte homes, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact geometry. Outdoor models for raised entries and exterior steps run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, cold-weather battery, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Huntington than Charleston or Morgantown?

Equipment prices are the same across West Virginia — we don’t inflate quotes by region. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: preserving original banisters in pre-war Ritter Park homes, compensating for irregular treads in Guyandotte, and the occasional electrical upgrade in a 1920s home still on its original wiring. Line items are on the written quote.

Is a used or refurbished stairlift worth considering?

For straight staircases, a certified refurbished unit can save 30–40% off a new install — factory-reconditioned with new upholstery, new cold-weather battery, and a 2-year warranty. For curved rails, refurbished is almost never possible because each rail is custom-manufactured. If your Huntington home has a standard straight run, ask about refurbished inventory during the assessment.

Do I need to verify the WV contractor license?

Yes — and you should. West Virginia requires a contractor license through the Division of Labor for any residential work over $2,500. Our WV contractor license number appears on every written quote. Verify at labor.wv.gov/contractor/contractor-search before signing any contract with any installer. An unlicensed contractor doing work over that threshold violates WV Code 21-11.

A word from Luis

Most Huntington families call after a scare on the stairs — a slip on the oak steps in a Ritter Park colonial, a father who hasn’t been upstairs since the knee replacement at Cabell Huntington, a daughter in Charleston worried about her parents in a 1930s Tudor they’ve owned for 50 years and aren’t leaving.

My job is straightforward: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and hand you a written quote honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. The Hershel ‘Woody’ Williams VA Medical Center is right here in Huntington and I’ve handled the HISA paperwork dozens of times for Cabell County veterans.
