Stairlift Service Across Boyd County

Boyd County, KY

From the stately American Foursquares and Classical Revivals lining the streets around Central Park — where steep interior stairways with original oak treads and ornate newel posts demand precise rail placement — to the mid-century brick ranches and Cape Cods in South Ashland along Blackburn Avenue, our crew has measured staircases across every section of this Ohio River city. The Oakview-Blackburn neighborhood features wider-lot homes with standard straight-run stairs and finished basements. The 13th Street corridor near the commercial district has older two-story residences with narrow treads and landing turns. Out toward Valley View, newer construction from the 1980s and 1990s has open floor plans and wider stairways that simplify every install.

1920s American Foursquare near Central Park — slim-profile rail on steep oak treads

Central Park, KY Installed March 2026

A two-story American Foursquare near Central Park with 13 steep original oak treads only 31 inches wide between plaster walls. Mrs. Sloan had been sleeping in the downstairs parlor for three weeks after hip replacement surgery at King's Daughters Medical Center because the stairs were off-limits. We laser-measured the run, confirmed the slim-profile rail would leave 20 inches of clear passage, and installed the same week. The brown-upholstered seat folds flat against the wall at the bottom landing. Mrs. Sloan slept in her own bedroom that night.

13th Street two-story — curved rail through a 90-degree landing turn

13th Street, KY Installed February 2026

An older two-story home along the 13th Street corridor with seven steps from the front hall to a 90-degree landing, then eight more steps to the upstairs bedrooms. Mr. Henderson's family has owned this home since the early 1960s. We digitally scanned the entire run on the first visit, fabricated a single curved rail that carries him from the front hall to the upper hallway without stopping, and installed a swivel-exit seat at the top so he steps onto hardwood instead of balancing on the top tread. His VA provider at the Huntington VA wrote the HISA prescription and the grant covered $6,800.

South Ashland ranch — straight rail on carpeted stairs, same-week install

South Ashland, KY Installed January 2026

A 1960s brick ranch on Blackburn Avenue in South Ashland with carpeted stairs and a standard 36-inch-wide staircase. The brown-upholstered seat sits at the bottom next to the family's hall closet and a framed photo of Mr. Morrison's Army unit from Fort Campbell. The rail bolts through the carpet into the wooden treads beneath — no carpet removal, no damage to the pile. Folded, the seat and rail take up 11 inches, leaving 25 inches of clear passage. Luis walked the couple through every control at the kitchen table after the install.

Outdoor

Oakview-Blackburn home — outdoor lift on raised concrete porch entry

Oakview-Blackburn, KY Installed December 2025

A mid-century home in the Oakview-Blackburn neighborhood with eight poured-concrete front steps leading to the covered porch. Mrs. Jackson hadn't used her own front door in two months — her son had been driving her around to the lower garage entrance. The cream-colored weather-resistant seat sits at the bottom step, ready when she comes home from errands. Every component is rated for Kentucky freeze-thaw cycles, sealed against Ohio River valley humidity, and carries corrosion protection for the river moisture that settles over Boyd County each morning.

Valley View home — straight rail on wide carpeted treads, same-week install

Valley View, KY Installed November 2025

A 1990s two-story home in Valley View with wide carpeted treads and an open floor plan. Mr. Mitchell's daughter in Louisville called on Wednesday, we measured Thursday morning, and the install crew arrived Friday afternoon. The rail mounts flush against the wall on the right side, leaving the left banister fully open. The swivel seat at the top lets Mr. Mitchell step off onto the upstairs hallway carpet facing the master bedroom. He was riding it by Friday evening.

Platform Lift

Westwood home — inclined wheelchair platform lift with yellow safety edges

Westwood, KY Installed October 2025

A two-story home in Westwood where Mr. Parsons uses a power wheelchair full-time after a spinal cord injury during his Marine Corps service. A seated stairlift was not an option — he needed to ride his chair between floors. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift along the indoor stairway: a flat black anti-slip platform with yellow high-visibility safety edges on all thresholds, white handrails, and a keyed lockout so visiting grandchildren cannot activate it unsupervised. The HISA grant covered $6,800 and the HCB Waiver covered the remaining balance through his Medicaid case manager. Mr. Parsons rolls onto the platform, presses one button, and rides the incline to the upper floor without leaving his chair.

Common Questions

Everything Ashland Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Ashland, KY?

Straight rails in Ashland homes — the brick ranches in South Ashland, the Cape Cods near Blackburn Avenue, the newer builds in Valley View — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for the historic Foursquares near Central Park or the two-story homes along 13th Street with landing turns run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your staircase's exact geometry. Outdoor models for raised front entries run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are Ashland prices different from Huntington or Ironton?

Equipment prices are identical across the Tri-State area — we do not adjust based on which side of the Ohio River you live on. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: steep original oak treads in Ashland's pre-war historic homes near Central Park, narrow stairways in older residences along the 13th Street corridor, or outdoor porch steps on hillside lots. Those variations are reflected in the line-item quote, not hidden in surcharges. We list every cost on the written estimate.

Is a stairlift cheaper than moving to a single-story home?

Relocation costs in Boyd County — real estate commission, closing costs, moving crew, new deposits — run $8,000 to $18,000 minimum. A straight stairlift installs in under four hours for $2,800 to $5,500 and lets you stay in the home you've lived in for decades, in the neighborhood you know, close to your doctors at King's Daughters and your church. For most Ashland families, the stairlift costs less than the real estate commission alone.

Do you offer financing for Ashland homeowners?

Yes. We offer 12-month interest-free financing and extended terms up to 60 months starting at $79 per month for a standard straight install. Approval takes minutes during the in-home visit. We also help you stack financing with VA HISA, Kentucky's HCB Waiver, or Boyd County Senior Services assistance so you pay the lowest possible out-of-pocket.

A word from Luis

Ashland families usually call after a fall or a close call on the stairs — a grandmother who slipped on the hardwood landing of an American Foursquare near Central Park, a retired steelworker recovering from knee replacement at King's Daughters Medical Center who hasn't been upstairs in six weeks, a daughter in Lexington worried about her parents in a two-story on Winchester Avenue they've owned since 1968.

I drive out, laser-measure the staircase, and hand you a written quote good for 30 days. No pressure, no upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
