Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Roanoke County

Roanoke County, VA

We work across the unincorporated Hollins community in northern Roanoke County, plus the small slice that crosses into Botetourt County. The Hollins University Historic District around the Quadrangle and Black Horse Tavern is full of pre-1940 farmhouses with narrow heart-pine staircases — straight rails fit cleanly. South toward Walrond Park and the Plantation Road corridor we see 1970s-era ranches that take standard 14-foot rails. The post-2000 builds in Wildwood, North Lakes, and around the Carvins Cove trailhead almost always have a half-landing turn that needs a curved rail. Hollins Center townhomes and the Friendship Lane developments round out the regular service area; we also cover the Mountain View ridge homes off Hollins Road.

Common Questions

Everything Hollins Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Hollins, VA?

A standard straight rail in a Hollins University-area farmhouse runs $2,800-$3,400 installed. Curved rails for the half-landing turns in Wildwood or near Carvins Cove start at $9,000 because every rail is laser-measured. Outdoor IP55 units for Plantation Road porches start at $4,000.

Are there hidden fees on a Hollins stairlift quote?

Our quote breaks out four lines: rail, seat, labor, and the freeze-thaw maintenance plan. Roanoke County does not require a permit for a residential stairlift, so there's no permit line. The only typical add-on is a dedicated 110V outlet at the bottom landing — about $180 if your electrician isn't already on site.

Does a 100-year-old farmhouse cost more to outfit?

Not for a standard straight. The heart-pine treads in pre-1940 Hollins homes take stainless lag bolts the same as modern lumber. Curved rails on those homes can cost slightly more if the stringer geometry is irregular — we measure and quote that during the survey.

How does financing work — what's the monthly payment?

From $79/month on a 60-month plan for a standard straight, with no prepayment penalty. We also accept VA HISA, Virginia CCC Plus Waiver direct-pay, and the Virginia Livable Home Tax Credit (LHTC) up to $6,500 at filing.

A word from Luis

Hollins is two housing stocks bolted together. North of Williamson Road you have the original 1900-1940 farmhouses near Hollins University and the Black Horse Tavern with steep, narrow stairs and original heart-pine treads. South of Plantation Road you have the post-2000 townhomes and the larger Wildwood single-family builds where the stairwells are wider but the half-landings turn 90 degrees.

I cover both halves the same week. Salem VA processes most of my Hollins veterans through the HISA grant, and I drive the paperwork over to 1970 Roanoke Boulevard myself when a client can't make the trip. Same-day site survey if you're in Roanoke County and call before noon.

Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

A 1925 farmhouse near the Hollins Quadrangle takes a different rail than a 2003 townhome off Plantation Road. We send a written quote within 24 hours of the site survey that breaks out rail, seat, install labor, and the freeze-thaw maintenance plan as separate line items, so you can see exactly what changes between a $2,800 straight and a $9,000 curved.

Reach Luis directly. Hollins surveys are typically same-week, and we'll tell you on the phone whether your stairwell takes a straight or needs the curved before we drive out.
