Stairlift Service Across Montgomery County

Montgomery County, VA

From the tree-lined streets of Old Blacksburg near Virginia Tech to the mid-century split-levels in Hethwood, from the established homes off Prices Fork Road to the wooded hillside properties along Brush Mountain, the newer builds in North Main, and the Tom's Creek neighborhood near Heritage Park, our crew has measured stairs throughout this town. We know which Old Blacksburg homes have the narrow 1940s stairwells that need the compact-profile rail, which Hethwood split-levels have the 90-degree mid-landing turns, and which Brush Mountain hillside homes have exterior steps that ice over from December through March.

We also serve Christiansburg, Radford, Dublin, and Pulaski without additional travel charges.

Hardwood stairs in an Old Blacksburg colonial — beige seat parked at the bottom landing

Old Blacksburg, VA Installed March 2026

A 1950s colonial off Roanoke Street in Old Blacksburg with hardwood oak treads and a 34-inch-wide straight run. Mrs. Graham had her hip replaced last year and could no longer manage the 13 steps to the upstairs bedrooms. Luis bolted the straight rail directly into the hardwood treads, parked the beige seat at the bottom landing with a powered swivel at the upper end, and tested every sensor.

90° curved rail in a Hethwood split-level — brown seat parked at the upper landing

Hethwood, VA Installed February 2026

A 1980s Hethwood split-level with a 90-degree turn at the mid-landing. Two competitors said the existing wooden handrail had to come out. Luis laser-scanned the staircase, fabricated one continuous curved rail that clears the handrail by two inches, and installed it in a single morning. The brown seat parks at the upper landing and matches the existing woodwork.

Tom's Creek, VA Installed January 2026

A 1930s Tom's Creek cottage off Heritage Park with a tight stairwell off the foyer, light stone-tile treads, and an oak sideboard the family inherited. Luis fitted the short 12-foot compact rail next to the sideboard without moving it, parked the brown seat at the bottom landing, and tested the soft-stop. The treads stay tile, the cabinet stays put, and Mrs.

Carpeted stairs in a Brush Mountain home — brown seat for a Vietnam veteran

Brush Mountain, VA Installed November 2025

A hillside home on Brush Mountain where Mr. Fischer, a 79-year-old Vietnam veteran, lives alone with carpeted stairs to the upstairs bedroom. His knees can't handle the 14 steps anymore. The HISA grant through the Salem VA at 1970 Roanoke Blvd covered $6,800, and the Virginia Livable Home Tax Credit (LHTC) added up to $6,500 in state credits.

Indoor inclined wheelchair platform in a North Main two-story

North Main, VA Installed October 2025

A two-story home on North Main where Mrs. Torres uses a power wheelchair full-time after a spinal injury. A seated stairlift was not an option — she rides her chair between floors. Luis installed an inclined wheelchair platform along the indoor stairway: flat black anti-slip deck, yellow high-visibility safety edges, white handrail, keyed lockout so the visiting grandchildren can't activate it.

Common Questions

Everything Blacksburg Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Blacksburg right now?

Straight rails in standard Blacksburg homes run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails — needed for Hethwood split-level mid-landings and Old Blacksburg L-shaped staircases — run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is custom-manufactured. Outdoor models with cold-rated batteries run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Is pricing different in Blacksburg compared to Roanoke or Salem?

Equipment prices are identical across the New River Valley and Roanoke metro. We don't adjust quotes based on location. Blacksburg families do tend to be well-informed about funding — the VA HISA grant, Virginia Medicaid CCC Plus waiver, and the Livable Home Tax Credit are all frequently used here. We walk every family through the options during the free assessment.

Do split-level homes cost more to install in?

If the split-level staircase is straight — same price as any other straight rail. Many Hethwood and Prices Fork split-levels have short straight runs of 6-8 steps between levels, which actually cost less than a full two-story run. If the split-level has a turn at the mid-landing, it becomes a curved rail job and the price reflects the custom fabrication.

Is a used or refurbished stairlift cheaper?

Certified refurbished straight rails start around $2,000 installed — roughly 30% less than new. The rail and motor are factory-reconditioned, the seat upholstery is replaced, and you get a 2-year warranty instead of 5. We carry refurbished inventory for Montgomery County and can usually install within a week. Curved rails are always new because every curved track is custom-manufactured.

A word from Luis

Blacksburg is a university town, but the families who call us aren't students — they're Virginia Tech professors who retired and stayed, long-time residents on the hilly streets off Main, and veterans connected to the Salem VA 30-40 minutes east via I-81. When someone calls, it's usually after a fall or a close call on the 1940s Old Blacksburg colonial stairs.

Here's what I do. Drive out, laser-measure every tread, and hand you a written quote honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. If you're a veteran, I've handled HISA paperwork through Salem VA at 1970 Roanoke Blvd dozens of times for New River Valley families — and the Virginia Livable Home Tax Credit adds up to $6,500 on top.
