Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Guilford County

Guilford County, NC

From the 1920s Colonial Revivals and Tudors of Emerywood — where Earl Sumner Draper's original subdivision layout means every house has a formal staircase with original millwork the homeowner won't let you scratch — to the Craftsman bungalows along Johnson Street in the Uptown Suburbs Historic District, where quarter-sawn oak banisters and heart-pine treads are standard, our team has mapped every stair configuration in the city. We know which Westchester Tudors have the narrow enclosed staircase that needs a slim-profile rail, which Oakview and Southside ranch homes have the wide 1960s stairs that install in three hours flat, and which Washington Terrace homes have the split-level entry common to 1970s Piedmont construction. We also cover the newer communities out toward Jamestown, Archdale, and Kernersville where HOA approval is the only extra step — we handle the accommodation paperwork at no charge.

1926 Emerywood Colonial — straight rail on original oak treads

Emerywood, NC Installed March 2026

A 1926 Colonial Revival in Emerywood — part of Earl Sumner Draper's original subdivision, now inside the Uptown Suburbs Historic District. The staircase has original quarter-sawn oak treads and a walnut banister that High Point furniture craftsmen installed nearly a century ago. We color-matched the rail to the existing oak grain, bolted into the treads only, and left the walnut banister completely untouched. Mr. Patterson rode it to the master bedroom that evening for the first time in six weeks.

Westchester Tudor — curved rail through an enclosed landing turn

Westchester, NC Installed February 2026

A 1932 Tudor Revival in Westchester with an enclosed staircase, plaster walls on both sides, a 90-degree turn at the upper landing, and original heart-pine treads. The staircase is 31 inches wide — tight by modern standards but common in High Point's pre-war Tudors. We laser-scanned the entire staircase, fabricated a curved rail that carries her from the entry hall through the turn and onto the upper hallway in a single ride, and specified the slim-profile seat to preserve every inch of clearance. Her mother was back in her own bedroom the night of the install.

Johnson Street Craftsman — slim rail alongside original stone-accent wainscoting

Johnson Street, NC Installed January 2026

A 1923 Craftsman bungalow on Johnson Street in the Uptown Suburbs Historic District, with original stone-accent wainscoting along the stair wall and heart-pine treads that have darkened to amber over a century. We bolted a slim-profile straight rail into the treads without touching the stone wainscoting or the original fir baseboard. The rail sits three inches from the wall — close enough that Mr. Brewer can steady himself on either side, far enough that nothing historic is at risk. He rides it six times a day.

Outdoor

Southside bungalow — weather-sealed outdoor lift on stone-paved front entry

Southside, NC Installed December 2025

A 1948 bungalow in Southside with a raised front porch, seven exterior steps over stone paving, and a Carolina red-clay yard that turns to mud every time it rains. We sealed the motor housing to IP55 for Piedmont humidity, applied UV coating for the long Carolina summers, and bolted the rail into the stone paving with chemical-set anchors. The lift has run through an entire winter of Piedmont rain and two ice storms without a service call. Mrs. Robinson told us she used to dread leaving the house when it rained.

Oakview ranch — straight rail over wall-to-wall carpet

Oakview, NC Installed November 2025

A 1963 ranch home in Oakview with wall-to-wall carpet over plywood subfloor and a clean 12-foot straight run from the split-level entry to the main living area. We bolted the rail through the carpet into the plywood subfloor with backing plates, confirmed the carpet wouldn't bunch around the brackets, and installed in under three hours. Mrs. Tucker told us her husband used to grip the handrail so hard his knuckles turned white. Now he rides up reading the High Point Enterprise.

Platform Lift

Washington Terrace — indoor wheelchair platform lift with yellow safety edges

Washington Terrace, NC Installed October 2025

A 1971 split-level in Washington Terrace where Mr. Simmons, a 68-year-old Army veteran who served at Fort Liberty (then Fort Bragg) and uses a power wheelchair full-time after a service-connected spinal injury, needed to reach the upper living area from the entry foyer. A seated stairlift was not an option because transferring out of the wheelchair twice per trip was medically inadvisable. We installed an indoor platform lift with a 36-by-54-inch platform, yellow high-visibility safety edges on all sides, automatic folding ramp at the lower level, and keyed lockout. His HISA grant through the Kernersville VA clinic covered the full cost.

Common Questions

Everything High Point Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in High Point, NC right now?

Straight rails in standard High Point homes — the ranches in Oakview, the bungalows along Johnson Street, the newer builds out toward Jamestown — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you'll need for most Emerywood Colonials and Westchester Tudors with enclosed staircases and landing turns, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised front porches run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in High Point than Greensboro or Winston-Salem?

Equipment prices are identical across the Triad — we don't adjust quotes by zip code. What can add modest cost is unusual install conditions: compensating rail mounts for settled treads in pre-1940s Emerywood homes, or routing a new dedicated outlet in a Westchester Tudor where the nearest plug is behind a plaster wall. We tell you the line items upfront. No Triad surcharges, no zone fees.

The furniture factory ruined my husband's knees. Is there a disability discount?

We don't discount the equipment, but we do help you access every funding source that applies. NC's CAP/DA Waiver covers stairlifts with a $28,000 lifetime cap for adults assessed at nursing-facility level of care. Social Security Disability recipients often qualify. If your husband is a veteran, the HISA grant through the Kernersville VA clinic covers up to $6,800. And if a physician documents the medical necessity, the full cost is deductible as a medical expense on both federal and NC state returns. We stack all applicable programs during the free assessment.

Is a used or refurbished stairlift a good option for a High Point home?

A certified refurbished straight rail typically costs $1,800 to $3,200 installed — roughly 30–40% less than new. We inspect every component, replace worn gears and batteries, and provide a 2-year parts warranty. Curved rails cannot be refurbished because each rail is custom-fabricated to one specific staircase. If your Oakview ranch or Johnson Street bungalow has a standard straight run, refurbished is a solid option. We bring both new and refurbished quotes to your assessment so you can compare side by side.

A word from Luis

Most High Point families call me after someone has already given up the upstairs — a father who hasn't slept in the master bedroom of his Emerywood Colonial since his knee replacement, or a grandmother in a Westchester Tudor who fell on the landing and whose daughter in Greensboro found out three days later.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
