Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Middlesex County

Middlesex County, MA

We install across all of Groton's villages. Groton Center holds Federal and Greek Revival colonials around the Town Green with steep winders and heart-pine treads. West Groton sits between the Nashua and Squannacook rivers — a mill village with narrow 32-inch staircases in 1860–1900 cottages. Lost Lake and Knops Pond are former summer colony homes with damp fieldstone basements that need sealed drive housings. East Groton near the Groton School campus runs 1820–1880 Federal and Greek Revival with tight upper landings. Long Hill and the South Street corridor blend antique farmhouses with newer subdivisions. We also serve Squannacook along the river. Every quote accounts for Middlesex County freeze-thaw — never salt-air, since Groton is well inland.

Common Questions

Everything Groton Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Groton, MA?

A straight stairlift in Groton starts at $2,800 fully installed. Curved rails for the winders common in Groton Center and East Groton colonials start at $9,000. Outdoor units start at $4,000, heavy-duty up to 600 lb at $5,050. The price depends on rail length, turn count, and whether the staircase needs shimming for original heart-pine treads.

Are there hidden fees on a Groton stairlift install?

No. The signed quote covers rail, motor, seat, install labor, runner removal if needed, and the 5-year warranty. Two add-ons occasionally come up: sealed lower drive housing ($180) for the damp basements common around Lost Lake and Knops Pond, and a longer charge rail ($95) for 1780–1820 colonials where outlet placement is limited.

What's the monthly payment on a Groton stairlift?

Financing starts at $79/month with 0% APR through Synchrony, subject to credit approval. A $2,800 straight install at 60 months runs about $79/mo; a $9,000 curved at 84 months runs about $130/mo. We run your rate during the in-home estimate so the number is firm before you commit.

Does Medicare cover stairlifts in Middlesex County?

No — Medicare Part A and B do not cover stairlifts in Massachusetts because they are classified as home modifications, not durable medical equipment. The MassHealth Frail Elder Waiver covers them through its assistive technology benefit, and the VA HISA grant covers up to $6,800 for service-connected veterans through Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans' Hospital at 200 Springs Road, Bedford.

A word from Luis

Groton is one of the oldest towns in Middlesex County — chartered 1655 — and you feel that the moment you start measuring stairs here. The Center has 1780–1850 colonials with steep winders and 30-inch tread runs. West Groton mill cottages run narrower still. East Groton and the homes around the Groton School campus skew Federal and Greek Revival with original heart-pine treads that have moved 200 years' worth of seasonal swings. Off-the-shelf rails do not fit these staircases. I photo-measure every turn and order the bend to match.

The other constant is weather. Groton sits 35-plus miles inland from Massachusetts Bay, so I never quote a salt-air corrosion package — that's a coastal upsell that does nothing here. What I do quote is freeze-thaw shimming, a longer charge rail for nor'easter outages, and a sealed lower drive housing for the damp fieldstone basements common around Lost Lake and along the Nashua River. The 1782 Job Shattuck colonials and the homes off Boston Road need different brackets than a 1990s subdivision off Townsend Road. We treat them differently.

— Luis Ramírez, Groton
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Groton's housing runs older than almost any town in Middlesex County. A stairlift here has to fit a 1780 colonial winder, not a catalog. We measure your actual staircase, quote a rail bent to match, and never charge you for marine-grade hardware your inland home does not need.

If your parent in Groton Center or West Groton is starting to avoid the stairs, call us. We come out, take the measurements, and tell you the real cost — including whether MassHealth Frail Elder Waiver, MassAbility, or HISA can cover part of it.
