Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Middlesex County

Middlesex County, MA

From the ornate Victorians of Belvidere — where curved rails thread past original walnut banisters and stained-glass landings that the Lowell Historic Board watches closely — to the triple-deckers of Centralville and The Acre where the conversation is about steep pitch, narrow width, and landlord approval paperwork, our team has measured every staircase style in the city. We know which Pawtucketville single-families have the wide suburban staircases that install in three hours flat, which Highlands multi-families have the shared stairwells that require building-access coordination, and which South Lowell postwar capes have the enclosed half-flight to the second floor that takes our slim-profile seat because nothing else fits. We also cover the surrounding Merrimack Valley — Dracut, Chelmsford, Tewksbury, Tyngsborough, Billerica, and Westford — so you never wait on a tech driving up from Boston.

1895 Belvidere Victorian — straight rail on original oak treads past the walnut banister

Belvidere, MA Installed March 2026

A Queen Anne Victorian on Andover Street in Belvidere with original quarter-sawn oak treads, a walnut banister, and a stained-glass window on the mid-landing. Mrs. Fitzgerald has lived in the house for 47 years and was firm: the banister stays exactly as it is. We bolted the rail into the oak treads only — pre-drilled pilot holes to prevent splitting in the 130-year-old wood, used stainless lag bolts to resist basement humidity. The beige seat folds flat against the wall so the walnut spindles remain fully visible from the front hall.

Highlands multi-family — curved rail threading the upper-landing turn in a 1910 three-family

Highlands, MA Installed February 2026

A 1910 three-family in the Highlands where the Sok family occupies the second floor. The steep staircase from the shared first-floor entry makes a 90-degree turn at the upper landing. The curved rail sweeps around the half-wall balustrade at the top without touching the shared stairwell walls. The brown-upholstered seat parks at the upper floor landing where the grandmother steps off directly onto the hallway. She had been sleeping on the living room couch for three months because she couldn’t make the turn at the top.

Pawtucketville cottage — straight rail on stone treads in a compact 1940s entry

Pawtucketville, MA Installed December 2025

A 1940s cottage-style home in Pawtucketville with stone treads and a compact stairway flanked by a wooden sideboard that Mrs. Nguyen refused to move. The brown-upholstered seat parks at the base of the stairs right next to the cabinet with its potted fern, and the slim-profile rail fits the traditional entry without crowding the furniture. The stone treads required masonry-bit pilot holes and silicone-sealed stainless bolts to prevent moisture intrusion. A cozy, no-fuss straight-rail install in a home that feels like it hasn’t changed since the 1950s — and that’s exactly how the family wanted it.

Outdoor

South Lowell — outdoor porch lift on stone paver steps at a raised front entry

South Lowell, MA Installed November 2025

A 1952 Cape Cod in South Lowell with a raised front porch and eight exterior stone paver steps. Mrs. O’Brien had not used her front door in months after orthopedic surgery. We anchored the outdoor rail into the rough stone paving with stainless expansion bolts and installed a cream weather-resistant seat with UV-stabilized upholstery rated for Massachusetts winters. The motor housing is IP55 weather-sealed and the cold-weather battery variant handles sub-zero January nights. Natural daylight floods the covered entry, and the carpeted bottom tread transitions cleanly to the paver surface.

1904 Centralville triple-decker — slim-profile rail on carpeted stairs in a 27-inch stairwell

Centralville, MA Installed January 2026

A 1904 triple-decker on Wilder Street in Centralville where Mr. Sullivan has owned and occupied the first floor for 38 years. The carpeted stairs run between two plaster walls with just 27 inches of clearance. Two companies told him it was too narrow. We brought the slim-profile seat that folds to 11 inches from the wall — the brown upholstery matches the neutral carpet tones, and the seat parks at the small landing area. Wall-mounted light switches sit just above the rail line. The tiled floor at the bottom of the landing provides solid anchor points for the base mount.

Platform Lift

The Acre — indoor wheelchair platform lift for a power-chair user

The Acre, MA Installed October 2025

A 1908 building in The Acre where Mr. Chhim uses a power wheelchair after a workplace injury and cannot transfer to a seated stairlift. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift on the indoor stairway — a flat black anti-slip platform with yellow high-visibility safety edges so he can see the boundary clearly from his chair, and a white safety handrail along the ride path. The orange-toned plaster walls and window on the landing give the stairway good natural light. The MRC Home Modification Loan Program covered the full cost at 0% interest, deferred until the property sells. Mr. Chhim rolls from the street into his apartment without leaving his chair.

Common Questions

Everything Lowell Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Lowell right now?

Straight rails in standard Lowell homes — the Pawtucketville single-families, the South Lowell capes, the wider triple-decker units in Centralville — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for homes with mid-landing turns or L-shaped staircases, common in Belvidere Victorians and some Highlands multi-families, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised entries and front porches run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different for triple-deckers than for single-family homes?

Equipment prices are the same regardless of building type. What can vary slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: slim-profile seats for the 26-to-28-inch stairwells common in pre-1920 triple-deckers in Centralville and The Acre, electrical panel work when a home has 60-amp service that can’t support a dedicated circuit, or curved-rail fabrication for a Victorian staircase in Belvidere with a mid-landing turn. We tell you the line items upfront — no surprise fees after we’re already in the stairwell.

I rent my unit. Who pays for the stairlift?

In most cases, the tenant pays for the stairlift and retains ownership — you can take it with you if you move. Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 151B and the federal Fair Housing Act require landlords to allow reasonable accessibility modifications for tenants with disabilities. The landlord can require restoration of the stairwell upon move-out, but cannot unreasonably refuse the installation. We prepare the reasonable-accommodation request packet, send it to the landlord with the relevant statute citations, and follow up directly so you don’t have to. MassHealth Frail Elder Waiver and the MRC Home Modification Loan Program both cover tenants with landlord permission.

Do you charge extra for Khmer-language or multilingual service?

No. For Cambodian-American families in The Acre and across Lowell, we coordinate a Khmer-speaking community interpreter for the home assessment and installation walkthrough at no charge. Every printed quote, consent form, and operating manual is available in the family’s preferred language. Zero surcharge. Lowell has the second-largest Cambodian-American community in the country — multilingual service is how business should work here, not an add-on.

A word from Luis

Most Lowell families call me after a near-miss on a steep set of triple-decker stairs — a slip on the worn treads in a Centralville three-family, a parent who hasn’t been to the second floor of a Belvidere Victorian in weeks after a hip replacement, a daughter in California worried about her Cambodian-American mother alone in a Pawtucketville two-story she’s lived in for 30 years.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that’s honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. We also work with Khmer-speaking families through our community interpreter network — your mother hears every word in the language she’s most comfortable in.
